I was not sure what to expect going in as this was a new author for me so I really did not foresee that once I picked this up I would be compelled to finish it in one sitting. The story was unique and easy to follow. The author did a great job of transporting me into the story, making me feel like I was actually there. I was cringing and laughing and making all those facial expressions and verbal cues (don't laugh, you just wait, I promise you can't help it) The characters are so vivid and easy to connect with. I couldn't help but feel some form of attachment to them - well most of them there are a couple I would like to toss to the R people who have the sharpened teeth! So much was packed into this first in series and yet I didn't feel like I was reading an outline. All the important pieces fit into the story easily. I am not even sure how to explain it (why I am not a writer). A fabulous first in series that I recommend for those who enjoy YA sci-fi with a twist This ends on a bit of a cliffy (fine a major cliffy) that left me really wishing it was longer or the second in the series was out now.
