by Mistake: A Steamy Romantic Comedy: (Poison & Wine, book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 1,195 ratings

You've Got Mail meets Grey's Anatomy in this sweet slow-burn, virtual meet-cute romance.

There’s so much going on in Anna’s life. Teaching countless hours at the studio and nurturing the three major relationships of her life – her group of tight-knit friends, all while attempting to not screw up this whole adulthood thing leaves very little time to waste on yet another dating app. At this point, a relationship is off the menu. Being “self-partnered” is more than enough.

A serious relationship has been crossed off Liam Brody’s list of goals, at least for the foreseeable future. Completing his residency and becoming a trauma surgeon is his only priority. Casual relationships, his friends, and books are the only things he’s willing to lose his precious free time to.

When an accidental email starts a deep online connection, both Liam and Anna dive in with zero concern . . . because there’s really no harm in getting close to someone who you’ll never meet in real life, right?

Wrong.

When a turn of events brings their “safe” virtual connection to an unexpected face-to-face, Anna and Liam learn their online chemistry pales in comparison to the real deal. A realization that brings along the bazillion-dollar question – what do you do when you meet The One at the most impossibly wrong time?

This was a great read. The plot was great and I loved the “Chickens” and their brute honesty, as well as their humor. They were a great support for each other. It’s nice to have some close friends to bounce ideals off of and to get sound (if not a bit unrealistic) advice from.

    SNEAK - PEEK:
Liam (an interning doctor) has sent off an e-mail, to a friend that he hasn’t seen in a while. The e-mail is delivered to the inbox of Anna (a fitness instructor). Rather than ignore the erroneous e-mail, she decides to answer it. A photo (of two men) is attached to the e-mail and Anna is curious, as to which one sent the e-mail or rather which one is Liam.

Anna has this quirky habit of attaching a quote, at the end of her e-mails and now she has the interest of Liam (a doctor in the making). They quickly become pen pals / e-mail buddies and find that, they have a lot in common.

Upon meeting for the first time, they are both in awe. Because, they have each seen each other before. Liam is still commitment shy, from his last relationship. His main focus, is his career. Which is time consuming and hell on any relationship. Anna is goal driven as well. She aspires to own her very own fitness studio.

Liam has an up and coming commitment, that he hasn’t spoken to Anna about. Rather than get into any relationship with her, he decides to not define their relationship nor take it any further. This hurts Anna. Because she knows that, what they have together is a once in a lifetime love. Liam knows the same thing as well…He feels it in his heart. But, he doesn’t know what to do with it. He’s so goal driven and never lets loose. He knows one thing…He’s losing Anna.

Anna and her group of lady friends are some very interesting characters. Anna, of course, being the most interesting. She's beautiful and upbeat and all sorts of wonderful things. She's a very nice person with an easy sense of humor. So when she gets that random email, she answers it, starting off a life-changing relationship. Her sister and other friends are with her through it all, as close female friends are. They provide the humor, advice, and shoulders to cry on as needed. They also provide the wine for the celebrations 🍾 as they roll along. A great friendship into romance as well as women's friendships. Recommended.

Well written. Interesting characters and great story line. I love how narratives are finally changing and showing strong, successful, and independent females with whom romance is a side story not the only story.

Liam tries to send his friend Ben an email but it ends up in Anna's inbox. Anna writes Liam back to let him know he has the wrong email. This triggers an online pen pal friendship. The 2 become close and move to phone calls then firing out they live close meet IRL. The 2 become even better friends and form a great bond.

I love Anna's crazy girlfriends the Chicken group/coup lets call them. they are so funny and I have always wanted girlfriends like that in my life but sadly never found them. Liam works all the time but does have some good friends for support as well.

Liam needs to get out of his head and he needs to say what is on his mind. It took him too long to figure things out. It took him too long to tell Anna all the things he should of said from the beginning. I love that I am left with the feeling that Anna will do amazing things with the fitness studio and maybe venture into a healthy food area of business.

The 2 characters work out their differences and you at least get a HEA e ding.

Anna is busy and does not have time for anything. Liam is studying and has no time for anything else. They meet in the most unusual way, accidentally through an email. So a virtual relationship is good for them and it gets hot. Then what happens when they meet? I thought Anna and Liam were good characters and all her friends were funny and interesting. I liked the book. The story itself was good.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a sweet and enjoyable romance of two people at mismatched stages of their life. He has been burned by a prior love who was not adapted or tolerant of what it takes to be an intern/resident. She has the most amazing group of women friends. He is hung up on not risking another relationship that would interfere with the demands of his residency. I had a bit of a hard time staying engaged and took breaks. It is a relatively clean romance, which was nice. I have a friend with a yoga studio and I am certain that it is a midweek day that things like painting can happen.

Poison & Wine is the name of the bar where the female characters of this book hang out. But this book is primarily about the relationship that's formed between Anna and Liam. These characters have chemistry and I enjoyed the back and forth going on between these characters before they met. Sigal Ehrlich really does a good job of making this story come alive. I will definitely read the next book in this series.
