Men of Hidden Justice
Because love can bleed into the darkest heart

My instincts had always served me well.
Listening to my gut, the warning voice in my head that told me when to walk away.
I never failed to heed the signs.
Until the day she walked into my office.
I knew she would be trouble, but I ignored the alarm bells.
And then it was too late, and I fell. Hard.
A lie tore us apart, and I thought I’d lost her forever.
But now she’s back—with a secret she’s been keeping.
This time, I’m not letting her go.

The Commander is book three in the Men of Hidden Justice series by Melanie Moreland.

Julian Grayson, the Commander, the man who controls the chess board so to speak. He controls the operations from his desk but still participates in missions as well. He also runs Elite Security, sort of a cover for Hidden Justice. Julian keeps a secretary for his security business who works three days a week. It is a pretty boring job, answering the phone, some filing and general office work. He prefers hiring older women who are happy in such an easy job. His current secretary is leaving so he is hiring someone to replace her. At the last minute, a young, beautiful, firey red head runs in and Julian is immediately smitten. He knows he should send her away. That she is the complete opposite of what he is looking for. But before his mind can catch up with his mouth, he’s offered her the job.

“I knew you were going to be trouble. The very best kind.”

Taliyah (Tally) Wells loves her new job. It’s in a secure building she feels safe in. And something about her new boss just makes her feel at peace. She’s attracted to him. How could she not be? He’s a beautiful man. But she tries to hide her feelings. Tally not only works for Elite Security, she also bartends on the weekends, trying to make ends meet.

Both Tally and Julian have secrets. Tally has a past she has been hiding from. And of course, Julian keeps Hidden Justice a secret. Tally has no idea where he goes when he is away for days at a time or when he says he’s leaving for meetings. They also both try to keep their attraction to one another a secret but when danger once again finds Tally, Julian can no longer hide how he feels.

Lies, even lies of omission, can tear people apart. And now it’s too late. But when fate delivers Tally back into his life once again, Julian knows this is his chance to make things right this time. Because now he knows that he wasn’t the only one keeping secrets. There is a lot of forgiveness that needs to happen for both of them. But Julian isn’t giving up. This time he’s not letting her go.

This was a great addition to the series. I was so curious about Julian. Both of these two made mistakes and I loved Julian’s determination to finally make it right. I’m not sure if I could have been as forgiving as he was. They really were perfect for each other. For some reason, though, I didn’t feel as connected to them as I did the previous couples in their books. I think that’s just a me thing. But, it was an enjoyable book with plenty of steam, suspense and danger, and of course, as with any of Melanie’s books, a strong hero that will do absolutely anything for the woman he loves.

OMG! Can you say swoon???? If I still had my ovaries they would have exploded! Julian is my absolute favorite in this series! Strong, protective, alpha and as usual, clueless when it comes to relationships. Tally is hiding from something the day she literally blows in to Julian’s office and his life. He doesn’t know what it is, he only knows she makes him feel something he never thought he would. But in his quest to protect what he loves, he loses it all. But fate steps in and brings him more than he ever thought possible. This story will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions but it is so worth the ride!! One of my favorites from Melanie!

5 Star Review The Commander (Men of Hidden Justice #3) by Melanie Moreland

It’s no secret if you have followed any of my reviews that I’m not a huge fan of Mafia or dark romance stories but Melanie Moreland turned my opinion right around with this Men Of Hidden Justice series. Book three in the series The Commander was everything I was expecting and so much more. I loved the first two book, but Julian Grayson and Taliyah (Tally) Wells surpassed even these.

The Commander was suspenseful, romantic, emotional, riveting and I was hooked from the first to the last chapter. It was extremely well written with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.

To say their journey was rocky is an understatement and at times I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading. The chemistry and heat that sizzles between Julian and Tally was electric.

There were times that my heart broke for the pain and loss of connection between Julian and Tally and I was hoping that they could come to terms with the past and rediscover the passionate love that they share. Julian was such a protective man who cannot believe how in love he is with Tally and that part of the story made me smile.

I loved this book, it is my favourite of the three and happily recommend you one click, you won’t be disappointed.

This is the 3rd book in this series and we got a taste of what was to come at the end of book 2. I’ve been impatiently waiting to see how Julian’s story would end. This is a must read with a lot of emotion. I love to see an ALPHA male fall hard and Moreland did not disappoint in the love story between Julian and Tally! This is a must read!

I devoured Julian’s book. The first time he was introduced I was intrigued and really hoped he would get to tell his story. And what a story it was. I loved seeing Julian and Tally’s journey, from how they met to their hea and everything in between. It was a such an enjoyable ride. Seeing the Commander in all his glory, and the man Tally brought out in him. I especially loved seeing him in the present time, Daddy Julian is so swoony. Wow! Melanie Moreland once again proves to me why she is a one-click author. Her storytelling always reels me in—hook, line and sinker. Julian and Tally’s story is a wonderful conclusion to the Men of Hidden Justice series. As a reader I would definitely not object to more of these delicious men!

Complex, Compelling, and Commanding
Once again, Melanie Moreland made me stay up way past my bedtime to finish one of her amazing books. “The Commander” is the third book in the Men of Hidden Justice series, and while it follows the storyline of Julian, one of the minor characters in the prior two books, it differs quite a bit in tone from the first two books in the series. The Commander is less dark than the “The Boss” and “Second in Command,” and has more of a BAM/ Vested Interest feel to it. And trust me, I am not complaining. One of the things I love the most about Melanie is her ability to interweave her characters and series, bringing the best story to light without falling into a predictable formula, and without trying to shove a round story into a square hole. Once again, Melanie has created characters that are complex, well-developed, and easy to fall in love with. The storyline is emotional and well-paced. Although there is a timeline shift within the plot, it is smooth and seamless, creating a complete and compelling picture of Julian & Tally’s relationship, with a truly beautiful HEA. I’m not quite ready to let go of the Men of Hidden Justice yet, and after reading this book I’m pulling for a either a spin-off series or another installment featuring a specific side character.

She spelled one word. Trouble. The exact kind of trouble I didn’t need.

I am and forever will be a sucker for second chance romance. Now, these stories can vary in length and why our couple is apart. That doesn't matter to me. What I love is they have chemistry from the start of the story. With that, we know they are going to find their way back.

Now the good thing for those readers who dislike missing out in the beginning. Melanie Moreland offers this story in two parts (after she shocks the sh#t out of you in the prologue). We get the will they/won't they. Tally needs a job, and Julian needs to keep his hands off her but can't.

How distracting she would be to me with that hair and those mesmerizing eyes. And her legs. I didn’t need those kinds of distractions.

One thing leads to another and BOOM - we've caught the love bug. However, secrets are never good. These two - well ... they get an A+ in secrets. This leads us to a fast forward to tension-filled but when are they going to just give in Present Day. Then...secrets come out. YIKES! Of course Matteo and Marcus come back for one more job. *sigh* and *swoon*

Things I loved about the story:
- Daddy Julian
- Alpha-Protective Julian
- Tally has no patience for steamrollering alpha males (GO GIRL!)

Things to consider:
It is a part of a series. However, storyline emphasis is more on contemporary and less on suspense in this book. Those who skipped 1 & 2 I believe could easily dive in here.

This story hinges on the relationship. What causes it to fall apart and how they can rebuild. Chemistry and love are there but the true test is the tough stuff. Melanie Moreland developes a well-rounded story building on that relationship to last. This is the stories I call "Unputdownable" because the pacing is in time with the action and smexy times.

It's hard to pick a favorite among the Men of Hidden Justice, but Julian wins because we get plenty of sexy and adorable daddy in this hero.

A personal favorite and recommend you get to clicking to read.

The Commander
(Men of Hidden Justice #3)
Written by: Melanie Moreland

Julian Grayson, The Commander, the man who makes the decisions about when and where Hidden Justice will take down the next ring of criminals who prey on innocents; the people that can’t fight for themselves. He keeps Hidden Justice - hidden so to speak. Elite Security has a small office hiding a big secret.

Julian has a lot of big important decisions that he makes each day, decisions that save lives. Although he has a protocol for hiring a secretary when Taliyah Wells bursts into the office and asks if the job has been filled, Julian says no and sits her right down and looks at her resume and he doesn’t stick to his rules instead he hires her.

Taliyah Wells, 28, single and possibly the new obsession for Julian. She has his attention, he breaks his own rules; so he wasn’t surprised the night he’d been out that he ended up at the bar where Tally worked. He wasn’t surprised when he drank too much, what was surprising was who was on his bed with him when he woke up the next morning. Showing up to apologize was right where he needed to be when Tally needed someone to come to her rescue. While she recuperates they get closer, their attraction towards each other grows and Julian finds himself wanting more with Tally, wanting a relationship, to take care of her, to keep the fear out of her eyes.

Julian does just that, gives her what she needs and makes her feel secure and safe. Taken care of and before you know it she’s Mrs. Julian Grayson. It’s shortly after the trip to Vegas things start to fall apart. It’s about fourteen months until he sees her again, only this time there is someone else with her and it only takes Julian a few short moments to realize who that someone else is. Will they work out their differences and is there still danger lurking?

Melanie Moreland writes beautiful stories; she can make a reader feel that you are there beside the characters, eating, talking, as if they are real. She engages readers, their minds, their feelings and she takes you on a journey, often a rocky journey but always ending with two people who will spend their lives with each other, who will work to stay with each other and who give readers a sense of happiness and peace when her stories are finished. I can honestly say, after reading one of her books I feel like I have lots to share and am happy that I spent my time with Melanie and her wonderful characters.

Taliyah (Tally) Wells bursts into Julian Greyson's office and life with the force of a northern gale. She is the last thing he wants but exactly what he needs. Her firey red curls and sapphire eyes are too much of a distraction for him. He runs Elite Security as a front for Hidden Justice, an organization that performs dangerous overt missions against human trafficking and government threats.

Julian can neither ignore nor control his fascination with Tally. She feels safe in his building and around her handsome, older boss. The chemistry between these two is undeniable but they both have secrets that could break the threads of connection they are weaving between them.

When revelations are exposed, secrets revealed, and truths told, what will be left of the sham of a relationship that felt so real? Will it be strong enough to withstand the hard facts, or will it crumble to dust?

"Together, right?" That was our new motto.
She nodded. "Together."

These Men of Hidden Justice... I love how wonderfully protective and possessive they are, while empowering the heroines at the same time.
The only reason why I'm giving this a 4 is because I enjoyed Matthew and Marcus more than I did Julian, and it was harder to connect to this couple, but make no mistake - he is pretty much dreamy.

"The moment I met him, he overwhelmed me."
I felt a bit like Taliyah when I first met Julian, in the best possible way. The guy is overwhelming, intimidating, and so freaking amazing. The Commander, perfectly in control of everything and everyone, who chooses secretaries he cannot possibly be interested in to avoid any complications. Until an interesting redhead walks in, and he can't help himself. Something draws him to her.

"Her closeness had banished the dark and given me rest. Her touch eased the turmoil brought me peace."
Taliyah was simply looking for a job, something she could do alongside the bartending job she has to keep ends meet. A part-time secretary job at a security firm seemed pretty much wonderful to her. A bonus? Her boss. A guy she can't help but feel safe with, or be attracted to. Even though she really shouldn't.

"There are a lot of reasons I should walk away", He muttered.
"Are there any not to?"
His mouth covered mine.
"Yes."

When Julian needs Tally, she's there for him. When she's the one who needs him, of course he is too. They're perfect together, and they're living in a perfect little bubble for a while. But both of them are hiding something from each other, something that can easily prevent them from being together. Something that ultimately breaks them up. Secrets tend to do that.

"I had never thought of my eyes as beautiful until I saw them in my daughter’s face."
When fate and life itself brings Tally back into Julian's life, there's no way he can let her go again. I don't think he would survive it. In my opinion, and even though they were both lying to each other and they both need to forgive and be forgiven, I couldn't fully wrap my head around what Taliyah did. I don't think Julian should have been as forgiving. I think he deserved more from her.

"I want to be the one who is always there."
Love wins in the end, and I got all the feels. I love how Melanie Moreland can take us for a ride, but always makes everything worthwhile in the end. I will miss these guys, and this series.

P.S. Would it be too much to get a happily ever after for Damien too? Maybe a novella? The guy just seems so wonderful!

I was one of those readers who was hoping Ms. Moreland would write Julian's story and I had anticipated it being fabulous like all her other reads, but she far exceeded my expectations with Julian and Tally's story! Their journey was an emotional one for me, maybe even more so than Matteo's and Marcus's, which surprised me because I adored the first two books in the Men of Hidden Justice Series, but there was something about Julian that tugged at my heartstrings. These two were meant for each other in every single way. And of course, I'm going to say it again and everyone is probably tired of me repeating myself in my reviews, but Melanie Moreland writes the very best epilogues of all time! There hasn't been an epilogue she's written that I didn't end up in a puddle of tears and this was no exception. What a spectacular way to end this series -- bravo Ms. Moreland!

This series has ruined me. The Men of Hidden Justice own a piece of my book loving heart and with each book, that piece just gets bigger and bigger. After falling for Matteo and Marcus, Julien is the next to wow me with his intensity and need to protect those in need.

The Commander is his and Tally’s love journey. It was an incredibly beautiful one and an emotional one too. From their first meeting to the very end, the love they shared was always visible but life has a way of making you work hard for what you need and deserve and these two fought an uphill battle and got everything they so richly needed and deserved.

Once I started, I could not put this book down and a part of me was regretting it coming to an end. Julien and Tally left me with a happy heart and I can only hope that Melanie will gift us with Damien’s story too. I’m giving The Commander the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy.

This is another great book by Melanie Moreland, and a great end for this series, at least for now because well you never know with Mrs. Moreland....
Julian the man behind the scenes, the keeper of secrets. The man with a plan, and rules. Rules for himself and rules for others.
What happens when you break your rules?
Enter Tally, smart, driven, loyal, stubborn, and a rule waiting to be broken. And boy does Julian set out to demolish his rules but actions have consequences!
Can Julian and Tally overcome the consequences of both their actions and live the life they are meant to have?
Well the justice may be hidden but you can bet Melanie Moreland will make sure they find their HEA!
I have voluntarily left this review.

I loved the first two books in this series but The Commander was a whole another level, Julian and Tally’s story blew me away because this is a very special read, a journey that has stayed with me long after the final words were read and a couple I wanted more from.
Julian Grayson lives for his job, he uses Hidden Justice as a cover for all he does and the last thing he needs in his complicated world is a relationship but now he finds himself attracted and wanting more from a woman who stumbled into his office looking for a job.
Tally is strong and independent, she stands for no nonsense but the one thing she demands is honesty. So what happens when Julian’s world crashes into hers, which leads to her keeping a massive secret from the man who holds a incense of her heart……
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, there are secrets, misunderstandings but there is also lots of love and loyalty. I fell hard and fast for this couple, Julian is the man you want in your corner, swoon worthy and protective, Tally is strong and sassy but it was the slow burn and intensity that took this book to another level. Perfect addition to a wonderful series.

Oh wow! I love this series, and it’s just getting better and better. Julian’s story has got to be my favourite to date. Add in ‘that’ book cover, and wow! Julian is the glue that keeps The Men of Hidden Justice together, and as a front for his job with Hidden Justice, he runs a security company, and he’s in need of another middle aged part time secretary to keep the ruse going. He wasn’t planning on Taliyah coming in and turning his world upside down though. I loved Julian and Tally together, I loved how she always caught him off guard, and made him so much more human. Before Tally he was emotionless and without feeling or connection, and then with Tally by his side he becomes a man on a mission - all possessive, alpha and protective. He just needs to come clean about what he really does, because we all know, secrets always seem to come back and bite you in the butt. An emotional and at times gripping story that had me addicted throughout.

The Commander is Book three in the Men of Hidden Justice series. Julian Greyson is “The Commander”. From his secret office, no longer going out into the field, he is at the helm of Hidden Justice. But when he hires a new secretary to man the desk at the front of his security firm he finds himself in deeper than he ever could have imagined.

“How incredibly enticing she smelled. Like warm honey and citrus. The frightening part was that I wanted to be even closer. I wanted to pull her against me and inhale her into my lungs. Meld her close to my body. Taste her.”

This story is part swoony office romance, part romantic suspense with a little mystery mixed in and a twist that kept me guessing. Love this story and this series.

The Commander by Melanie Moreland book 3 in The Men of Hidden Justice
This book is proof why Melanie is a one-click author. From page one Julian & Taliyah story held me hostage, I just had to read it all. Melanie's way of writing and telling a story not only captures my attention but the characters capture my heart.
Julian and Taliyah have some hurdles to jump before reaching their HEA. Some twist and turns the book is definitely a must have.

Just so you are aware. I'm not a huge fan of Mafia type stories, so I would not normally choose to read this book. But I am a huge fan of Melanie Moreland and her writing.
This series is set in the world of Hidden Justice, an under ground agency set up to rescue victims of organised crime & deal with the organisation behind the atrocities. Just like all the stories in this series The Commander is relationship driven & the setting is the scaffolding. By that I mean it's not the the focus, so if like me you're not a Mafia romance fan you are still going to love reading The Commander.
Julian, The Commander, he's in charge, running the operation. He is a very alpha male. Very in control, passionate, protective, detail oriented. Just hawt!
Taliyah Wells is trying to make her dreams come true. To make something of her life after a traumatic, sad start. Tally is a strong, independent woman alone in the world until she bursts into Julian's office to interview for the secretarial post.
When Julian lets his heart rule his head, something he's never done before, and offers Tally the post. His whole well controlled exterior begins to crack.
I can't tell you how much I loved this story. It is the icing on the Hidden Justice cake.

Julian is the man in charge of Hidden Justice so even though he doesn’t take an active role in all the missions he does spearhead the intel to ensure the safety of his teams. With his current receptionist retiring he needs to replace her and has a certain type of employee in mind however when Tally comes to interview, he is intrigued and quickly decides she is the perfect woman for the job.

Tally has escaped a dangerous past and all she wants is to keep a low profile and live her life. It is only a matter of time before the chemistry between her and Julian ignites however their happiness is short-lived when she realizes she never really knew him at all. When fate brings them together once again Julian wants a second chance, but will he be able to convince her?

The love and chemistry between them was never in question however Julian’s determination to protect Tally causes turmoil and he has a few important lessons to learn if they are to find their way back to each other. The narrators were a great match for the characters as they brought out the protector in Julian as well as the strength and resilience in Tally.

The Commander,
Wow. This book was great. I could not put it down.

I was so excited for Julians book. And Melanie did not disappoint. She took us on an emotional ride with this story.
Julian and Tally’s story is beautiful.
They have an instant spark from the first moment they meet.
I loved how Julian was with her. How all the Men of Hidden Justice are with there women. Protective , possessive , love deeply. They do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
And a perfect epilogue.
I did not want this story to end.

Romantic suspense, workplace romance, secret baby, strong chemistry , heartbreak, emotional, second chance, sweet, swoony, great characters , hea.

I love this series. And all of the characters. I am going to miss them. This will definitely be a re read for me.

Congrats Melanie on another great story. I’m excited to see what you come up with next.

As the Commander of Hidden Justice, Julian is used to keeping things close to the vest and moving people and controlling outcomes as you would as a chess master. However, when Tally comes into his office for a job interview, Julian is thrown for a loop and all control is thrown out the window. With her own issues from her past, Tally feels a connection with Julian but wants to keep everything work related, but when her safety is on the line, Julian breaks protocol and becomes her knight. What will happen when his true identity is revealed? Can you drop everything for a chance at love? Once again, Melanie Moreland captures the readers hearts as well as their minds with a wonderfully written story that they cannot put down. Filled with the perfect amount of danger, lies and everlasting love is another book in the Hidden Justice series that deserves more than 5 stars!!

Something I love about the Hidden Justice Men is their possessiveness.

Tally hit Julian so hard and he didn't see her coming. He doesn't know what to do with her and with the feelings he has when she is around.

To Tally, Julian makes her feel safe but she can't let her guard down. Something will pull them together but something else will tear them apart.

I loved how strong and independent Tally was, but at the same time, she accepted Julian and the way he was. And how Julian was protective about her but at the same time let her be.

I am not ready to let them go and hopefully we have more of them!

This one was intense from the beginning, no not dark, sparks fly from almost the start. Julian is the head of Hiden Justice he has a lot of teams to worry about he didn't need a young secretary to distract him. Taliyah was in need of comfort and security so she took the opportunity to interview for Elite. We learn what happens when you don't reveal all of your past or all of yourself to your loved one. Favorite scenes though when she wanted to come up with a nickname for Julian and when Julian had poop on his hand 🤣. Great book, love Melanie Moreland words.

This series keeps getting better and better! The Commander has everything a suspense romance needs and I have to tell you that these characters are so so good!
I love how Melanie Moreland introduce us slowly to their romance and how Julian is so protective of Tally, the story is slowly burned and their romance is off the charts.
I just loved it!

I love this series and The Commander is my favorite of the bunch!!

Julian Greyson. Gruff, in command, no room for emotions, his life revolves around his work. Tally bursts (literally!) into his life and nothing is ever the same. Warm, generous, giving, Tally is the opposite of the harsh world Julian knows and even though he knows he needs to stay away from her, nothing can keep them apart.

This is such a great story! Julian and Tally go through many ups and downs as they navigate their relationship and we are there for it all. Well thought out characters, fantastic storyline and all the steamy scenes make this a five (plus!) star read!!

This final book in this series, I think, is my favorite. Julian is the commander. He is the one who oversees his area and is responsible for his men. When they are done with Hidden Justice, he offers them to join his cover business as security. His office is small, it's just him and a secretary who he only employs three days a week to keep up appearances. She is always an older woman who won't stay long. That is until Taliyah comes bursting in his office and his life and his heart.
I loved this story. Julian has teased his friends in the past for falling in love but he falls so much faster. His attraction is immediate but he knows he can't act on it. Not only is Tally his employee but his job is too dangerous. Tally is also attracted to Julian but he is her boss. She just needs to finish her college degree that has been put on hold too many times. Working two jobs will help. It's her second job that ultimately brings out the alpha protector in Julian that forces them to confront their feelings. I loved the love story! I loved the intrigue! I loved the alpha! I loved the strong heroine!

This is the 3rd book of the Hidden Justice Men, i was really intrigued by Julian's story and totally enjoyed this book.
Melanie knows how to tell stories, that's for sure.. she knows how to keep you hooked to the book.
Julian is the commander, strong, lethal.. but he also has a heart and Tally earns it.. it was very nice the read their love story, the ups and downs and see the evolution.
I recommend this book but first must read the other 2

Oh, how the mighty have fallen...in love that is.

I was so excited about Julian and Tally's story.
One by one, Julian has watched his men fall in love and in turn, leave Hidden Justice to protect their women. If only he would have thought of that sooner.

I love that we get a full backstory of Julian and Tally's past and not just little flashbacks. It really gives the book so much more substance.

Another suspenseful and steamy read from Melanie Moreland, with a beautiful HEA. If you haven't read any of the Hidden Justice League series, I 100% recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

Daddy Julian warms my heart.

Well- let’s see, what have we got here- a recipe for mediocrity? I wish. This is a recipe for badly written, overused and recycled story with nothing and I mean nothing good about it.

How is this the same person who wrote The Contract!? The writing was so cheesy and sterile, cold even.
It’s not just that I couldn’t connect with the characters and their relationship wasn’t believable but overall this gave me such distant, cold vibes.
The story itself also didn’t help matters because it was very unoriginal and truly, it was boring as heck.
I also had a problem with the very problematic relationship portrayed. In my opinion Julien was a refined bully. He bullied his was into her life and then he gaslighted the hell out of her until she married him - all for her protection of course. I’m so tired of that frankly disturbing trope of hiding stuff from the female MC (cause God forbid she might just faint from shock) I mean seriously- these men proclaim to love these women something fierce but they don’t respect them enough to think them capable of handling life the same way they’ve done BEFORE they met them. What kind of crap is that?

I wish I never picked this up. The writing was amateurish, the dialogue do stilted, cheesy and fake, the plot boring and problematic, the characters without flavour ans problematic again. Just an overall BIG NO
