Hockey Hotties #4

Sneaking Around With #34

Rate this book
I have a reputation for being tight-lipped. You learn quick when you become a professional hockey player to be guarded with the media, so I’ve worked hard to cover up the mistakes of my youth.

But when I’m traded to the Florida Fury, where my ex–best friend is the starting right wing, I’m forced to confront my past. Ford and I have a lot of history, especially when it comes to his little sister, Imogen.

My heart still lurches in my chest when I see her.
My hands want to reach out and touch her.
My mouth wants to keep apologizing.

She’s the only woman who ever made me want more. But she’s also the one who fell victim to my most regrettable decision.

I’m not a believer in fate, but I must be back in her world for a reason. I’ve fought for everything I’ve gotten and I’m not backing down from what I know will be the best thing in my life.

Sneaking Around With #34 is another winner in this series. I have not read the entire series yet, but so far I am liking it.
Miss Rayne done a good job bringing the story alive.

Imogen dan Warren had been a high scho sweetheart. Something tragic happened and it ripped them apart. The second chance romance is the trope here. Miss Rayne done a good job not letting her readers know what is that 'something tragic' until the right moment.

I do like Warren. He is earnest in groveling department. It's just Imogen have a drama queen issue.
Overall a good read to start my weekend.

I am loving this series so much! I was so excited to read Warner and Imogen's story and it did not disappoint!

This was a second chance love story with ALL THE FEELS!! Their past was turbulent and they both came out bruised and heartbroken. One vowed to never love again and one vowed to get the one true love back at all costs. Despite being high school sweethearts, the pain was too much and they parted ways. Anger and what ifs are drowning them despite moving on with their lives without the one who makes their heart beat.

Now, they are in each other's lives again. Warner now plays with the Florida Fury , along with Imogen's brother Ford, his ex best friend. Tempers are heated and it shows out on the ice. Ford will not let go what happened with his sister and his supposed best friend.

Temptation is there though for these two, but so are all the memories of the sorrow and pain. It takes the reader a bit to fully know what caused the divide when they were younger, but once you know... you'll completely understand and you'll want to root for them cause they are so darn great for each other.

The audio for this was so good! I swooned over Warner many times and my heart hurt for Imogen - but despite all that, I totally shipped them. 1000%!

This was a fun and easy read. If you've read any books but these authors you know what to expect.

I really liked that trope (brother's best friend turned to rival) and it was nice to see the guys from the previous books. Nothing more to say about it. A good and light read. 3 ⭐

It’s gotta be a no for me. I was on board before you find out what happened in high school and then I was like yeeeeaaahhhhh so you want me to sympathize with a rich white woman who doesn’t understand why a boy who grew up in poverty wouldn’t want to jeopardize his ability to provide for her and his family??? This is the heroine??? He finds out she’s pregnant 30 minutes before he’s supposed to go to a try out for the hockey draft right out of high school and needs to go because unlike HER he DOES NOT come from old money and if he wants to support them he needs to play hockey. He says let’s talk about our options after and she acts like he said “go get an abortion.” Are all rich people this crazy?

At one point she says “Is it so crazy to hope that you would do the honorable thing?” As if him wanting to discuss their options then not wanting to get expelled from high school and ruin his chances of giving her some semblance of the WILDLY cushy life she lives is a bad thing. (Her brother blackmails the hero with something that could get him expelled to keep him from seeing her after she has a miscarriage.)

BRUH she’s so unlikeable at this point. A completely out of touch spoiled rich white girl and honestly I wish our hero would find someone else because he deserves a hell of a lot better.

It’s possible she realizes this at some point but I don’t think I can wait until she does. Time and maturity should have put it into perspective but it hasn’t for her. She should know by now that their circumstances were different but since her circle is only filled with people like her she doesn’t get it. I don’t think I can read a privileged white woman pouting because she didn’t get her way and being so out of touch with reality…I already have to live with real people like that.

Also, the only person of color in this book is the Hispanic personal chef for the heroine’s family 😑 so I guess I shouldn’t be all that surprised at the sheer caucasity.

Warner and Imogen's story was one that I had been waiting for because when Warner was traded to the Florida Fury we could see the animosity between Ford, Imogen's brother, and Warner I knew there was going to be a great back story there and Piper Rayne did not disappoint me at all. In fact I was caught off guard with a huge shocker and if you've read any of my past reviews you know that's hard to do because I normally pick up on clues but this one was like BAM! and all of the air was sucked out of my lungs...and that bumped this right up to a five star read for me.

I loved the connection between Imogen and Warner, it was so strong that even though they had been broken up for years they still felt so strongly about the other. So much so that once they were able to work through things they were able to really let themselves be a peace again. But things with Ford were a different story....

I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Steamy Sports Romance, New Adult Romances, Enemies to Lovers, or Second Chance at Love Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

a second chance brother's best friend romance.

they dated back in high school but something happened and they haven't spoken since.
now years later they work together, and he'll do everything to get the girl back.

i really enjoyed this, the only complaint is that i felt as if the heroine didn't understand why hockey was so important to the hero because she was rich, but besides that, lovely couple.

Piper Rayne and sports romance are really the dream team. I’m loving this sexy hockey series. Swoony, heartfelt, funny, and bingably sweet, Sneaking Around with #34 is a feel good, heart-hittting second chance romance brimming with feelings and laughter. I loved every minute.

This is a second chance with a bit of a twist because it also has the workplace romance vibe and the fun angle of the former-best-friend-now-enemy’s little sister trope too. Warner once broke Imogen’s heart when they were young, a mistake he hopes to rectify now that their paths have crossed again as Imogen takes on a new role with his team. But their past history isn’t the only barrier. Despite his best efforts to earn her forgiveness and reclaim her heart, Imogen is determined to keep him away….and her brother most certainly won’t approve. So even when Imogen starts to cave in her heart, these two have to stay on the sly to explore their feelings.

I really loved Warner as our hero- a man who has had to work hard for everything that he’s achieved, and a man who has worked to better the circumstances of his family. He’s a decent guy, hard working and altruistic, despite some of his mistakes, the greatest of which are his regrets with Imogen, and the ways in which their high school budding romance was cut short. Parts of this are heartbreaking, knowing how much has festered, how much sadness and pain has accumulated as time as gone by, but that also adds to our thrill of seeing them try to work it out. Seeing the truths rise to the surface. We get to see the full facets of Warner as these two reconnect and open their hearts, and I was glad that Imogen both made space in her heart to heal but also wasn’t too easy to forgive, while also taking time to understand.

This Florida Fury series is just so engaging- great chemistry, interesting characters, a big ole secondary cast with this family-hockey ensemble, and the perfect balance of heart, humor, and heat. I love these hockey hotties!

Be still my hockey romance loving heart ♥️.

𝗦𝗡𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 #𝟯𝟰 is the best kind of second chance romance read. My heart was all in from the moment I started reading Warren and Imogen’s story and when I say, I could not put this book down, I mean, I could not put this book down until the very last page. And the scene where Imogen crawls across the table, was the moment when my heart felt right, once again.

What a beautiful and emotional read this book was. Thank you Piper & Rayne, for writing the beautiful romance books that you do. If you love a good hockey romance and/or second chance and/or opposite side of the tracks, romance read, then this book is a must read romance for you!

I’m giving 𝗦𝗡𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 #𝟯𝟰 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

All Frosting, No Cake

50% of the book was pointless alluding to how Warner betrayed Imogen, without really saying why. No real substance. I almost stopped reading because of the repetitiveness. The story could have be told in half the space, but then they would only be able to charge for a novella, which is essentially what we got. So much hype for nothing. There was no real plot development. Disappointed I preordered this.

I've not read any Piper Rayne's books before. And this one came as a pleasant surprise. The story in this book was going quite good. The pacing was in normal speed. It wasn't to quick or too slow, which was perfect for me.

Imogen and Warner were really cute couple. The Prologue was soo soo cute. I do admit, I was in the middle of the book and I was thinking to myself "Come on, I want to know what happened between them before" 😁. Soo soo me 😂. I am glad that they took the long awaited second chance and love. The only thing that it was a bit strange was...that Warner attempts for reconcilation with Imogen needed a bit more effort. From that point of view, it was too easy.

Beside that everything else was really great. Like I mentioned in the beginning I've not read other books from this author, and I would love to in the future. The author got me pretty much excited for Kane's book. Which comes last...I think...for now 😂.

Ten years ago Imogen and Warner were high school sweethearts. They thought that they had found their forever and were ready to take on the world together . . . until everything came crashing down on them. Now ten years later, Warner is traded to the Florida Fury, where Imogen was just recently hired to be the hype girl for the Florida Fury. Imogen is still so raw that she wants nothing to do with Warner but her new job forces them to work closely together. Warner is determined to win his girl back and uses their proximity for another chance.

This was the biggest emotional gut punch of a book I have read by Piper Rayne. Maybe that is because I can relate to Imogen more than I want any woman to, or maybe it is because I love Imogen and Warner so much. Regardless, this story hit me harder than any book I have read by this writing duo. Imogen and Warner gutted me. I felt their pain and anguish deep. While their story is still fun and amazing, filled with everything you would expect from this duo, this one hit me a little bit deeper. I am obsessed with this series, the Fury and their ladies that bring them to their knees.

4,5 stars. My favorite in this series so far! I wasn’t sure what to think of Warner in Ford’s book, but I warmed up to him in Tropical Hat Trick and loved him in this one. Warner was Ford’s best friend in high school and started a secret relationship with Ford’s sister Imogen before they got outed. All went well until something happened and it tore Warner’s friendship with Ford apart and caused Warner and Imogen to split up. We don’t find out what exactly happened until the middle of the book, but it was legit. There had to be a reason though and Warner had to do some major groveling, which he did. He was a fantastic hero and I like some good grovel! Ford was his a$$hole self again in this book, but there was so much more to his behaviour. I like that this series really focusses on each couple instead of dropping breadcrumbs of the other couples. Warner and Imogen really fit!

***Spoilers about safety and triggers👇🏻***

Safety spoilers
Safe read. Hero not a manwhore. Both not celibate during the 10 year separation. Hero said it weren’t that many women and all just sex. No number mentioned on heroine’s part. No cheating, sex with OP or OW/OM drama. At the end of the book there was a line I didn’t get. Imogen told Warner she found something in his spare bedroom and he answered “Shit, I told her it was over, I promise”. There was no OW drama in this book, but perhaps the authors wrote that out? His reaction didn’t make any sense to me.

Trigger warner:
Miscarriage (heroine in high school)

Next book is Cory and I am so excited to read that one! I loved him in Tropical Hat Trick and was shipping him and Ande. He seemed to be a manwhore in this book, but I don’t believe it. He must have changed so much since the previous book. And he told Ande “You will hear rumours, but trust me.” We will see if he can be trusted. 😏🙏🏻

I love a good second chance romance and authors Piper Rayne offer up a great one in Sneaking Around with #34. What I loved about this book was that the rift was between more than the hero and heroine, because when they first were together, the hero was high school best friends with the heroine’s brother so there was a bit of betrayal on more than one level and as this story plays out we see if even went deeper. I’m not a fan of angst and to be honest despite the complications in this book, I didn’t feel like it was overrun with angst, there was a bit and considering how the past collided with the future it was warranted, but I also felt like the hero and heroine had matured and while they were at odds for a part of this book, they found a way to be civil and work together. I also liked that once the heroine got past her stubbornness, they had some open and honest conversations that set them on a path to move forward from the past and find their happiness together. Equal parts emotional, sweet, and sexy, Sneaking Around with #34 was impossible to put down.

Most of his childhood and teenage years Warner Langely lived in fear. Fear of not having enough to eat, fear of not having a roof over his head, and fear of not being able to take care of his mother and younger siblings so they didn’t have the same fears. Getting a hockey scholarship to a private uptown high school gave him the opportunity he needed to make their lives better. It also gave him the best friend he’d ever had, Ford Jacobs who mistakenly assumed he was from a wealthy wine making family and brought his younger sister Imogen into his life. When things blew up between him and Imogen, he took the blame because his family came first, but losing not only her but also Ford has haunted him for years. Being traded to Ford’s team was the opening he needed to get back what they once had, but that hasn’t been working out as well as he hoped and now with Imogen working for the Florida Fury as well and she needs his cooperation…that is an opportunity he can’t pass up.

While the incident that drove Warner and Imogen (Gen) apart was brought up quite a few times throughout this book, it was usually dismissed quickly as Gen didn’t want to talk about it. It wasn’t rehashed over and over, it was a reminder that these two had a past that ended badly and from Gen’s point of view it was all Warner’s fault, something he acknowledged and tried to apologize for many times. Warner was quite crafty in agreeing to be the face of the Fury only if Gen was with him at all publicity stunts and interviews her department set him up for. He was determined to remind her how special their connection had been and try and win her back. While Gen held a pretty good grudge, it was easy to see that Warner had never gotten completely over her. I actually liked that he had to work for it and while I did at times feel Gen was a bit harsh with him; I think that only made him more determined. Ford’s behavior throughout this book made me want to smack him, and even though it came towards the end, Gen’s words to him about his behavior cut him to the quick and made him realize he had some unresolved issues he needed to work through.

I hated that Gen made Warner sneak around once again to be with her, but I also understood her hesitation. There was such a connection between them that went beyond the physical and that was because their previous relationship started as friendship and moved to more. That foundation was still there, the feelings hadn’t gone away despite a decade of being apart and I loved how easily they moved into a relationship despite the issues they faced. It wasn’t always easy (the sneaking around for one), but there was respect and love between them almost from the start.

For a second chance romance, Sneaking Around with #34 was a fun and delightful read, yes there were moments of frustration, anger, and sadness, but there were a lot of lighthearted and sweet moments to balance it out. I can say without a doubt that Sneaking Around with #34 is my favorite in the Hockey Hotties series.

I'm always up to read whatever Piper and Rayne decide to write and release next, but I have to admit that I'm very excited that the Hockey Hotties series is back with more books! I really enjoyed the first three, and am eager to meet even more of the players and to see them all find love! SNEAKING AROUND WITH #34 was definitely one that I was excited for after how much build up we had in the previous book, and it definitely delivered!

Before I go into too much on Warner and Imogen though, I'm loving that we actually got so many cute cameos from the couples in the first three books, and team moments in this one! Makes me even more excited for future books!!!

Okay, now first, I have to say that I absolutely loved this book! I’m not usually a huge fan of second chance romances because it can sometimes feel like you miss getting to see all of the moments when the couple actually falls for each other, but I thought that Piper and Rayne did an excellent job with that here through flashbacks and having Warner and Imogen get reacquainted, too. Their chemistry was lovely and I adored their banter, and I was rooting for them right away. It was also nice to get to see more of their backstory since we’ve been teased about Warner and Ford (Imogen’s brother) being at odds in past books! I was definitely feeling all the feels while reading this one, and it stayed on my mind after I'd finished--already looking forward to more of Imogen and Warner in future books! :D

Overall, I thought that SNEAKING AROUND WITH #34 was wonderful! It was such a sweet story, and had some nice steam to it, too! It’s a lovely addition to the Hockey Hotties series and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series...especially since we got some great teases for the next two books in this one. Highly recommended!

I feel like the books are getting better and better!! 😍😍

I started loving Warner in the novella Tropical hat trick even though we hadn't seen him in the series before and I feel like Sneaking around with #34 is now one of my favourite books in the series. I loved that he and Imogen had history and a past. I loved that there were flashbacks of their past, slowly putting together what had happened to them when they were still in high school. I loved the development Warner went through when it comes to personality and character, but that he also stayed true to himself and was still the guy he was before. And even though there was all this tension between him and Ford I also loved that the Florida Fury guys welcomed Warner. The team dynamic was fantastic, I loved reading about the scenes on the ice and off the ice. I loved how the "older" characters had so much screen time, too!

Just overall, this book was perfect in my eyes. I also grew to like Jana a lot and even though I'll have to wait two more books until getting to know her story, I am already looking forward to it so much!

But for now; let Cory have his HEA please!👀❤️

Rayne targets more than just the heart. Warner and Imogene capture the attention with some angstful emotion, tempt the senses with their scorching hot attraction and stir up trouble with all the humor lying in between. Sneaking Around With #34 is a second chance to get to know a few rulebreakers and lose your heart at about the same time their finding theirs.

I have loved the hockey hotties stories from the beginning and this one is such a good addition. So glad we got Warner and Imogen's story!

Sneaking Around With #34 is a second chance romance that had me all up in my feels. The back story between this couple is an emotional one but when they give that love a second chance watch out! Loved having all the previous Fury players in the background - even with Ford being a bit too whiney. This one is so much more than a hockey romance. Great book!

5 Star review Sneaking Around With #34 (Hockey Hotties #4) by Piper Rayne

AUDIO REVIEW:
This is the fourth book in the Hockey Hotties series from Piper Rayne. Sneaking Around With #34 was a great addition to the series. I love second chance at love stories and that is what happens when Warner Langley is traded to the Florida Fury. His ex best friend Ford plays for the team and where he is his sister Imogen will not be far away.
Could this be Warner’s chance to get the woman he loves back or is the pain of the past to much for them to come to terms with? This was an emotional roller coaster of a read at times and when secrets are finally revealed will it rip them apart or bring them together?
Jacob Morgan and Stella Bloom did a wonderful job with their narration bringing the passion and angst that is Warner and Imogen;s story to life. They certainly did justice to both the characters and the story that Piper Rayne wove with their performances.
I fell hard and fast for these characters, particularly Warner who has a heart of gold and is doing whatever he can to support his family. I was really cheering for them to get their happily ever after. There was witty banter, angst, passion and wonderful characters throughout this story and I cannot wait to see who is next in this addictive series.

This book hit a few of my book trope favorites: best friend’s sister, athlete and second chance romance. I was excited when the book began because I thought the buildup was great. The whole time I was waiting to find out what Warner did to hurt Imogen and even Ford so badly. I have to say I think it fell short. Of course I feel for Imogen because she had no idea that he actually showed up but Ford made him leave. I can understand her being upset with him because it seemed like he just walked away on one of the worst days of her life; even though in the end that is what he did. Ford has to be one of the worst supporting characters I have been introduced to in a while. I don't even think he was upset about what happened between Warner and Imogen. I think he used that situation to push them away from each other. The way he acted in high school and now what so immature and ridiculous. Luckily Warner and Imogen’s story was good enough to keep me interested.

Warner and Imogen secretly dated when they were younger.
The brother found out and was pissed since it was with his best friend.
She gets pregnant and it freaks out Warner because he already has to take care of his mom and siblings and getting into the NHL is the only way he can afford to do that.
A day later, he releases they can make it work but by the time he wants to give it a go with her, she’s in the hospital after a miscarriage and the brother doesn’t let him see her.

This causes tension between the three of them for 10 years until Warner gets traded to play on the brother’s hockey team where he and Imogen make up and start dating in secret again.

Narrators we’re great but it was a fairly forgettable book.

Warner's got a new team, is in a new city, and he's come to get his first and only love back. If only Imogen would let him in, even just a little. He's more than up for the challenge now, though, and isn't about to blow it this time around like he did when he was 18 and stupid like all 18 year olds are. Her defenses aren't the only obstacle that Warner has to scale, though, there's the little bump that his new teammate is Imogen's brother Ford, the guy who used to be his best friend and who hates him now. Yeah, it's not going to be easy, but he's got love on his side.

Imogen knows she won't survive a heartbreak by her first love, so she's going to have to steel herself against Warner. Having to work with him as he's the Fury's new face will be difficult, but she can do it. She'll need to remember what he did to her back in high school, and not give into his incredible charm or the chemistry that still exists between them. She isn't about to give him a second chance to break her, not again. Nope.

I love second chances. They make me all gooey inside when two people who once loved each other get another shot at it, BUT only if they both deserve that second chance. Warner and Imogen more than deserved their second chance, and I was riveted as I read every word of their journey from the blush of young love to the passionate adult love they have in their present. Warner was so sweet and swoony, and I was rooting him on as he set about getting his second chance. Imogen was strong, but could only resist Warner for so long. I like how she made him work for it, though, and I loved how she finally stood up to her brother, who I wanted to smack every time he acted like an immature buffoon. These hockey players of Piper Rayne's and the women that bring them to their knees have been so entertaining, now I am dying to know if Cory and Ande get their own second chance when Second Shot with #76 lands on my Kindle!

Piper Rayne always manages to make me fall in love with the characters and their emotions so easily. Sneaking Around with #34 made me laugh and cry and feel every single emotional deep in my heart. Warner and Imogen's second chance romance is exhilarating, heartaching and swoon fest all the way. This brother's best friend sports romance was entertainment overload.

Warner Langley knew his trade to Florida Fury won't be an easy one. New team. New people. And Ford Jacobs who is his once upon a time best friend and now enemy because he broke his sister Imogen's heart in high school. Their past is complicated. When Imogen takes over as the team's hype girl, things become even more awkward. Warner is determined to get Imogen back and earn her forgiveness. Imogen wants to keep on pushing him back even when her heart wants him. And Ford will lose his mind if it gets out that they are sneaking around each other.

Warner is more intense that the previous heroes in this world. He comes from a less than privileged background and his first objective was to support his family by playing professional hockey. And he did it. It took some sacrifices and regrettable decisions. He is a good man with battle scars and broken pieces. And since their school days, Imogen was his hope and light. But something really heartbreaking happened that tore them apart. I was waiting on pins and needles to know the secret and when it came out, I feel devastated for both of them. Years of pain, anger, bitterness and guilt kept them away. And this is their chance to work through everything. Their hearts are connected deeply and the time didn't reduce the intensity. Warner melted my heart and his sexy arrogance is charming combined with his vulnerability. Imogen is a fierce and sweet character. She didn't let Warner off the hook so easily and made him work for it. But her kind and loving heart also understood the circumstances. Poor Ford could do nothing..awww. Like all fictional family created by Piper Rayne, the whole crew of Florida Fury is awesome. They are a real family in every sense. They made me laugh so hard and the accidents were hilarious.

Sneaking Around With #34 by Piper Rayne was an entertaining sports rom com that will fill your heart with warm feels and you will have a blast.

This is the first book I've read in the Hockey Hotties series and I really liked it a lot! The second chance romance between Warner and Imogen was well done and it was fun to unravel what tore them apart the first time and then watch them overcome their history to develop a stronger relationship. I loved the other characters in the series, with the exception of Ford. The danger of reading an interconnected series out of order is that when characters behave badly in a future book, it makes me less likely to want to go back to their book to read.

That said, I smiled a lot when the main couple interacted and there are so many hockey hotties that need their HEAs; I can't wait to read their stories! This is a great book to read for a generally low angst, fun sports romance! 4.5 stars.

Book four in the Hockey Hotties series and hands down my favourite book yet! 🤩

Warner and Imogen!!!
After the ending of Ford’s book and getting an insight as to what we’d expect in this, I was giddy and ready for what was in store for us next!

I was so curious as to what happened between Warner, Imogen and Ford all those years ago and why Imogen and Ford hated Warner so much…

This enemies to lovers, second chance, sports romance with a sprinkle of workplace romance as well as ex-best friends little sister, like the previous books in this series, is bingeable and I loved every minute.

Warner had just been traded to the Florida Fury and was ready to start the season off with his new team and fans to show them what he’s made of.
Great, right? Wrong.
The animosity between him and his ex best friend, Ford, (Imogen’s older brother) was quickly becoming too much.

Warner broke Imogen’s heart years ago and it’s a decision he’s regretted every day.
However, now that Imogen’s taken on a new role with his team at the Florida Fury, he’s hoping to rectify his mistakes and earn her forgiveness now that they’ll be forced to see each other again.

Imogen can’t deny the feelings she’s suppressed for Warner now that they’ve reconnected. Their chemistry is off the charts, the attraction is undeniable and it isn’t long before the two give in and decide to give their relationship another shot.
Except having a protective older brother who just so happens to pop up everywhere isn’t ideal, forcing Warner and Imogen to sneak around and explore these new found feelings for one another on the sly.

I loved Warner so much!
He worked tirelessly to achieve everything he has today and create a better life for his family.
Despite the mistakes he made in the past—his greatest being losing Imogen—he continued to work on every facet of his life, from winning back Imogen’s heart, to repairing his friendship with Ford and to winning over the team and fans at the Florida Fury.

The plot, the spice (the mouth on this man 🫠), the banter between the boys—all of it was superb! I’m a sucker for a second chance romance and Piper Rayne executed this one to perfection.

f: Imogen
m: Warner
(Dual POVs)

Oh em geeeee this one tugged at my heartstrings. And tugged. And tugged. The pain from their past is still very present, as well as the love they still have for each other. Imogen fighting the love she still felt for Warner, while also dealing with the pain of the past had my heart hurting for her. Seeing the fierce love Warner had for Imogen and the immense guilt over what happened in the past also had me hurting.

I gotta say, Warner is up there with Aiden for being my favorite hero of this series so far! The way he acknowledges his mistakes and desperately tries to seek forgiveness had me rooting for him! He is still wholeheartedly in love with Imogen and charmingly hopeful that he can win her heart over again. He’s not shy about wanting to reconcile but he’s very respectful of boundaries and patient!

Warner’s mistakes of the past remain a mystery to readers for some time. With the few characters that were aware of what happened saying the act was unforgivable, inexcusable, and there’s no coming back from it, I was a little skeptical. I honestly wondered if they were overreacting, especially since they were teenagers when the betrayal happened. When it’s finally revealed to readers, I gotta admit I underestimated Piper Rayne because it was worse than I was expecting.

This one just might be my favorite from the series so far! It’s the best kind of book that hurts your heart along the way, making it that much sweeter when these characters get their HEA! But this book isn’t all sweet, because Piper Rayne adds in just the right amount of spice! I’ll just say, if you like playing with toys, I think you might like this one 😏

Favorite Quotes:

“There’s no future for us.”
“Well, we disagree on that.”

“I wish I could carve out the spot you dug for yourself in my heart.”

This sports romance is also a second chance romance and a brother’s best friend forbidden romance.
I LOVE all of that and I loved this story.

The story is told from dual points of view with some flashbacks to high school when Imogen and Warner were secretly together.
Imogen’s brother, Ford had warned his best friend that his sister was completely off-limits.
So, with their attraction and feelings growing they had a secret/forbidden romance.
I love all the butterflies that come with that and with first love. I loved the glimpses of them as teenagers.

Flash forward ten years- Warner gets traded to the Hockey team Ford is on and.. Imogen is around, too. Cue the fireworks, both angry and smoking hot.

The full story of why Ford now hates Warner and why Imogen won’t forgive Warner gets unveiled slowly through flashbacks and some major present day moments.
It’s an understandable reaction to the situation at the young ages they were. I didn’t think it was unnecessary drama. It worked for me.

The characters are very likable, I’m a sucker for forbidden and the “sneaking” part had its pluses and minuses for the characters.
I liked the way that aspect was explored.. the emotional side.
I felt I understood the characters connection and their chemistry was sizzling hot.
Imogen is confident, smart, mature and kind. She’s a really likable heroine.
Warner is a bit of a loner, he has a huge, beautiful heart and he’s sexy as sin. He’s also incredibly kind and generous.
I would have liked a bit more of time with them as a couple together, a bit more conversations and just being together. No other issues for me.

I enjoyed the secondary characters (the hockey players and their wives/girlfriends) They brought some funny and really engaging moments, especially towards the end of the book.
I liked the hockey aspects both gameplay and the banter between the teammates.

It was a really enjoyable story with great characters. It’s both sweet and sexy. I love that combination!
It has heart, heat and plenty of real emotions.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series of interconnected standalone’s!

I love this series. It is a sweet, sexy, fun, feel good series. This is book four in the series and a second chance romance.

Warner has just been traded to the Florida Fury where Ford Jacobs, his childhood best friend, also plays. But unfortunately for him, Ford hates him because he hurt his sister years ago. The two of them were once a dynamic duo on the ice, bit with Ford hatred for Warner it is ruining the chemistry on the team. But while Warner wants to make things right with Ford, it's his sister Imogen who he is really seeking forgiveness from.

Imogen and Warner have a past, one that involves broken hearts. Warner never got the chance to explain what really happened that night. He. was young and knows he messed up, but he wants to properly apologize to Imogen and beg for a second chance. Imogen is the one that got away, the only girl that he has ever loved and now it is time to get his girl back.

Imogen has just landed a job with The Fury and her boss thinks that she is the best person to make Warner Langley the new "it" player. What does that mean exactly? That she will be spending a lot of her time with the guy who broke her heart. she is not sure that she can be this close to him without breaking down and giving in. But this is her job, and she needs to be strong. She's afraid if she gives into her feelings for him that he will only break her heart again. will they get the second chance they deserve?

I loved Warner and Imogen together. Warner is this sexy hockey player who is still in love with the woman he fell for as a teenager. He will do everything he can to make her see that they belong tougher. I loved how sweet he could be one minute and sexy the nest. I loved the chemistry between the two of them. and despite their past you could still feel what these two had, You could see it in the flirty banter between them.

Sneaking Around With #34 is a great addition to this awesome series. I love that we still get to see all of the other characters that we fell for. We get to continue to see the shenanigans between the players and catch up open the other couples. Warner and Imogen's story was sweet and sexy and everything that I love about Piper Rayne's books. I cannot wait for the next one.

“I’m nothing without you in my life. I’m so sorry I was an asshole. I never should’ve stayed away this long.”

Review: Sneaking Around With #34 by Piper Rayne. Hockey Hotties book 4.
🏒
Honestly I was so curious over why happened between Imogen and Warner when they were younger and why in the world Imogen and her brother Ford, hated him so much! I was so ready to hate Warner, but from the moment he and Imogen shared a page I was in love, their chemistry was unbelievable and the mystery and the going back and forth between past and present only increased my curiosity.

There’s no way all that love could have turned so badly. Piper and Rayne took some time to make the big reveal and when it happened I was shocked. I might even screamed a big “NOOO”! And then I understood, that’s all I’m gonna say.

Warner had a lot to overcome, I felt for him at some point, but being 100% honest, he needed to beg and pray for his lucky to change. Imogen was so strong, caring, fun and I said strong? I’m in love with her, but even the strongest have some weakness and hers was Warner.

There’s so much you you can fight fate and destiny. They were totally soulmates and it was beautiful their road to recover their relationship. Other “couple” who had a bump road was Ford and Warner. It was actually really fun to read. My only issue was how I felt that, at some point, the authors tried to make Ford a small villain in the story. No no, I’m ALL team Ford. Forever.

Sneaking Around with #34 was the fourth book in the Hockey Hotties series by the authors Piper Rayne. Although not completely necessary, the series was better read in order.

An NHL player, Warner Langley had just been traded to the Florida Fury. Unfortunately his ex-best friend played for the team (Ford, book three) and there was a ton of hostility and baggage. The team knew from day one they didn’t get along but no one knew why. And add in Ford’s sister to the mix, a whole new level of baggage abounds!

Ford Jacobs’ sister, Imogene, moved to be near Ford and his new daughter not realizing Warner Langley was going to be traded to Ford’s team. Her plan was to stay as far away as possible but fate had something else in mind.

The authors built the story with mystery surrounding the past details. We knew Warner and Ford were once close and now hated each other with a passion. And we knew Imogene was at the center, but the reason behind it unfolded rather slowly as the plot developed. The story line focused on the team dynamics while simultaneously unraveling Imogene and Warner’s new reality mixed in with past moments.

All in all, it was a quick and enjoyable read. The stage was also set for the rookie, Cory, in the next story, Second Shot with #76. Gotta love the rookies and can’t wait!
