Strong Enough Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,857 ratings

The fourth and final novel in New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott’s Meet Me in Montana series fires up the passion in a story about forgiveness and finding your soul mate.

Dirk Littlewood had the world at his feet and a life he claimed to love. He was a world-champion bull rider with plenty of women to keep his nights busy and make his inner loneliness nothing but a delusion.

Dirk’s life was exactly how he wanted it.

Until it wasn’t.

The moment Merit Eden showed back up in Hamilton, Montana, everything was turned upside down. Life changed immediately and then tragedy struck.

Merit was the only woman who could bring Dirk to his knees—and the only woman who could heal his broken past. If only he’d let her in, they could heal each other in the process.

The only thing left for Dirk to do was figure out how to not only forgive himself, but accept forgiveness from the only woman he had ever truly loved…if only he was strong enough to withstand the heartbreak.

Strong Enough is a stand alone novel in the Meet Me in Montana series, but for a better reading experience the order is as follows:

I love stories based in small towns and have enjoyed every book in the Meet me In Montana series. I have been eagerly anticipating Dirk’s story but starting this book was bittersweet as I knew that this is the last book in the series.

As with the previous books, I quickly became invested in Dirk and Merit’s story. What an emotional roller coaster of a read Strong Enough was. From the first to the last chapter I was totally engrossed in the story that Ms. Elliott wove; I laughed and I cried.

This was a beautifully written story full of love, forgiveness and hope. It was passionate, swoon worthy and I loved catching up with the other couples.

I’m so sad this series is over—I’m really going to miss Kelly Elliot’s cowboys. (This review will contain spoilers).

Going into this book, I was totally expecting it to be about Dirk trying to win Merit back after breaking her heart and devastating her 11 years ago. But that wasn’t it at all. In fact Dirk was running away from her for a good portion of the book. He did and said so many things that just hurt Merit over and over and it was so frustrating and infuriating. At times I actually hated him. And Merit— I loved her and my heart just broke for her. I was so grateful she had everyone in her corner but especially Timberlynn. I was so glad that Timberlynn wasn’t afraid to tell Dirk what a self-absorbed jerk he was being.

This all being said, when Dirk finally realizes what he wants (and what he’s always known deep in his heart), he pours his heart out to Merit— and it was glorious. It was so emotional and it made me so happy and relieved. Once this happens, there’s no doubting, no second guessing. They’re both all in and it was beautiful to read. I loved the ending and the epilogue. Thank you Kelly Elliot for an amazing series! I loved it so much!

    No cliffhanger
Standalone though part of a larger series
    Told from both POVs
    First loves reunite

I love this author and have loved this series. This book was no exception it just felt a little rushed in certain parts which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Still absolutely worth the read though.

This book is filled with the perfect blend of love, laughter, tragedy, hope and angst. The author did a great job of not letting you get too comfortable.

Dirk and Merit have been friends for most of their lives. As they grew older they both started to develop feelings for the other but didn’t want to ruin their friendship by admitting it. Before college though Merit asked Dirt to be her first. He accepted but after it was over he did the one thing to drive a stake through her heart because he couldn’t handle his feelings.

Fast forward a decade and they cross paths again after Merit moves home. Dirk is beyond sorry for what he did to hurt her and wants to make amends but they second they see each other again, their feelings reignite and they spend a good portion of the book fighting them.

But fate is a funny thing and no matter what they do, they can’t seem to fight against the magnetic pull that keeps bringing them together.

I won’t give any of the other twists and turns away so enjoy the ride.

Two words.....Dirk Littlewood!!! Oh how I have waited for this man to have his own book and author Kelly Elliott did not disappoint fans with this one. A 5-star ending to a 5-star series!!!!

Strong Enough is book 4 in the Meet Me in Montana series. Strong Enough is a stand along but I would recommend reading these in order. Don't get me wrong, jumping into one of Elliott's books at any point is pure bliss. To follow the lives of these amazing cast of characters, you want to start your love for this series with book 1.

We were first introduced to Dirk in Never Enough, book one is this 5-star series. Let me say, I loved his character from the start. I loved the hints the author would give into his life, and his interaction with the other characters was the best. What can I say, I just loved him. FINALLY......we have Dirk and Merits story. To say the road to happily ever after was without heartache is a big understatement. This book gave this reader every emotion I long for in a romance.

Merit and Dirk were childhood friends. Sadly one incident changed that friendship forever. Life took each down different paths......but one path always seems to take you home. Dirk has tried to hide his pain and loneliness with nameless women, but only one woman...one name is never far from his mind. Merit has tried to keep the memory of Dirk buried. If it's buried, locked away those memories can't hurt you. Both learn no matter how many miles and years.....they have a pull that cannot be denied.

I will not give any spoilers in my review...honestly that would just ruin your reading experience. Dirk has his fair share of flaws, I think that is why I loved his character. The author pulled no punches in her writing. At times I wanted to throat punch him...the next he had me in tears. To be that alpha male and believe me (swoon city) he showed such doubt in himself. The way the author showed his vulnerability in certain scenes, that just gutted me at times. Merit, bless her heart. She has worn her heart on her sleeve for Dirk a long time. It's hard to have those feelings for another that don't see you in that light. Merit had such grit about her. She was knocked down and hurt so many times but she was just kept getting up and pushing forward. I will say this for Merit, she had gumption. A family problem brings her home and this lady takes a weight on her shoulders that would buckle most. I love a strong female lead and Merit showed that in spades. They had a push and pull about them that just worked in this book.

Author Kelly Elliott proves again why she is and remains in my top five authors. Her books are packed with such emotion. The writing is such, I can visualize it as the story unfolds before me. Kudos Kelly Elliott on yet another happily ever after for this readers!

I love the Shaw family! Dirk has been a crucial part of the Shaw family being Brocks best friend and then becoming Kaylee's. Merit and Firk were best friends when they were younger but young love broke them up. They slowly make their way back together in this book. Showing you what a great guy Dirk is.

I absolutely loved Dirk and Merit. It took a bit of time to get together but was sweet. I do have to say - from the very first book to this one I rally disliked Kaci. I don’t see what Brock and Dirk saw in her. At least Brock got Blaze.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (Series Rating)

I can’t even begin to tell you all how much I LOVED this series and the characters! 🥰
However, as much as I loved most things about the series, the one thing that I didn’t like was the amount of content errors in the writing, especially in the last couple of books. Normally I can overlook errors of spelling and grammar mistakes etc, but I found that these errors interfered with the storyline as they were errors of names, events and dates etc that were at times said completely different just sentences before the error.

    - I will forever be head over heals for Brock, god damn he is a mighty fine book boyfriend!
    - I loved that you saw a whole new level of each character in each book, it just made them so much more loveable, especially to see how close they all were and the lengths that they would go to for each other.
    - Blayze never failed to make me laugh! The things that he would come out with were out of this world hilarious, not to mention adorable!
    - Ty was a level of hot that I had not yet discovered, my lord that man was out of this world, and absolutely freaking hilarious too!
    - Tanner, oh sweet sweet Tanner! Tanner stole my Heart in ways not many have been able to, and may have even stolen 1st place of the Shaw brothers!
    - Dirk Littlewood, while he may not be a Shaw by blood, he certainly is one of the brothers! I absolutely adore Dirk, he was always a hilarious side character, but was insanely loveable in his own book! The character development of Dirk in his book was like no other and definitely one that I will forever swoon over!
    - I loved Lincoln, Kaylee, Timberlynn and even Merit, they were all welcome additions to the family and took this series to whole new levels with their many loveable qualities! I love the bond that they all share amongst each other and with the rest of the family, I also love that they were all the perfect match for the Shaw (and Littlewood) men!

Overall, this series is so full of characters to love, bonds to envy and storylines like no other! If you enjoy loveable, hard working, Bull riding, Steer Roping Cowboys who aren’t shy to run a muck and are no stranger to dirty words, this series is definitely one for you to sink your teeth into! 🥰

    2⭐️

There was not enough amount of incredible setting description and funny banter among characters that could make me like the hero.

I didn’t believe his make-up lie about changing the heroine’s name… that’s the problem when the story is looking for alterations of the original, so the hero can “save face”.

I disliked how he acted towards Kaylee as well. 🤷🏻‍♀️

5.0 out of 5 stars An emotionally charged and captivating story.

Strong Enough brings the Meet Me in Montana, series to an end, and what a way to end what has been a truly fantastic series. With a story that is emotionally charged and extremely hard to put down. As Dirk and his one time best friend and former lover Merit reunite for a roller coaster of a ride. That's full of hurt feelings, recriminations, misplaced jealousy, sweetness, love and chemistry. And I was utterly captivated throughout, even if it made me cry multiple times.

    Would happily recommend.
