Once again, Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber kill it narrating the third book in Emma Chase’s ‘Getting Some’ series, Getting Real. This is a doctor/nurse book and the main character is the brother of Garrett from the first book.
Connor Daniels is a divorcee single father of three. In his early 40’s, he’s focused on his sons and his career. Violet Robinson is a nurse who works in the ER with Connor and has a crush on him. When they get set up to go to a wedding together, sparks fly. Not only that, but Violet is great with Connor’s sons, which is so important to him.
This series has been so fun to read. Every book makes me smile and laugh. I love the friendship and family dynamic and the kids in this book were especially great. Another thing I really loved was the medical setting. I’m a nurse so I could really relate to a lot of that. When Connor was chewing out a resident about how he was treating the nurses, I swooned. Nurses don’t work for you they work with you. Sigh.
Overall, this was a fantastic, feel good romance. It had a bit more emotion and angst than some of her other books, but it really worked for me. Highly recommend this book/series and I can’t rave enough about how great the narration is.

Mad respect for all the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals out there. Thank you for your service! Especially in the last couple of years during this crazy pandemic.
No, this book is not about the pandemic. There’s no Covid-19 here, but there is a hot ER doctor and a klutzy ER nurse engaging in a passionate clinch in the ER room.
Shit don’t get any more real than this book! I honestly didn’t expect to love it, but I’m blown away by how good this was. Not like a five star ‘this is the best book I’ve ever read!’ kind of way (even though I did rate it pretty high), but like in a ‘it couldn’t get any better than this moving forward’ kind of way (not that I’ve read the first book) if the series does continue.
I love that Connnor is a family man, and he’s got all the important S’es—sweet, smart, sexy, sensitive, and swoony. He’s also big on open communication and always encourages Vi to be honest, tells him what she wants and not what she thinks he wants to hear. He’s a good dad, and I love that he loves his job and does it with gusto and a lot of heart.
Violet is kind and caring. I mean, I don’t think you can be a nurse and not care. She’s got her own quirks, e.g. she turns clumsy when Connor is around and she likes to write short, dirty, hilarious poems about him. Overall, she’s a likeable heroine. Meanwhile, Connor’s sons are hooligans, lol. They’re a funny lot. I don’t think I’ve found an author who can portray kids better than Emma Chase and Kristen Ashley.
There’s so much laughter, tender moments, sexy times, nerve racking scenes (that made me stop reading and pondered how a few mere minutes could change a person’s life) in this book. So yeah, there’s some deep stuff. The third act conflict involves Connor’s ex and a misunderstanding on Vi’s part, who jumps into conclusion. Thankfully, Connor & Vi DIDN’T blow it out of proportion. I think they handled it in a very mature, adult-like manner.
There’s also cameos of characters from previous books. So if you’ve read them, there’s that to look forward to. All in all, this is a wonderful, lighthearted romance that has great friendship, family, and romantic dynamics among characters and has more emotion and angst than what you’re typically used to from this author. I’d recommend this if you enjoy the tropes, and I’ll definitely be re-reading the book in the future.

take a shot every time Violet trips over air... and you’ll still be able to walk in a straight line more successfully than her.
the best part of this book was Connor’s three unhinged as fuck kids. they truly had me cackling and kept me thoroughly entertained while Violet and Connor were just a snooze-fest.

I swear, this woman can write a grocery list, and I'll happily read it with a goofy smile on my face. I'm not a reader that gravitates towards sweet and fluffy, unless Emma writes it. This woman can write the fluffiest book on the planet, and I'd love it to pieces. And considering I've loved the first two books in this series, is it any wonder that I adored this one?
I've been waiting for Connor's book since meeting him as a secondary character in Getting Schooled. There's just something about a male character in his 40s who has his sh*t together that just does it for a girl every now and then. And while I love me my alphaholes, Connor hit the spot just right. This divorced father of three was simply amazing. His divorce wasn't great, but it didn't turn him bitter. And I just loved the dynamic between him and his sons.
Violet was simply adorable. She's an ER nurse who's been working with Connor for two years, and been crushing on him hard just as long. I loved the way she pined for this man without reserve. Poor Connor and his awkward assumptions of what a woman in her 30s wants. And poor Violet in her thinking that Connor isn't interested.
This was one of those lighthearted, low angst, feel good sort of reads that you devour in one sitting and leaves a huge smile on your face. There's no crazy drama. And I especially loved the dynamic with Connor's ex and the growth there. But more than anything, I just loved Violet and Connor together. I loved how sweet they were to each other, and the chemistry between them. I loved how Violet takes care of Connor and how he falls for her almost instantly. I just loved these two together. Their chemistry, their banter, their everything.
Did I read this in one sitting? I sure did. And that ending? Sheer perfection!

Emma Chase knocks it out of the park again with this book! A funny, sweet, heartfelt and sexy single-dad/age-gap/workplace romance that made me laugh, swoon and fall in love. I loved Connor and Violet’s story so much!
Connor is the eldest brother of Garrett (hero of book #1, Getting Schooled). We saw him mid-divorce during the first book of the series, and things weren’t going well (you may remember his epic outburst with a chainsaw). Now, he’s 42 years old and raising his three boys pretty much on his own while working as a doctor in the local ER. His life is good, but he’s a relationship guy who is not cut out for random hookups, and he wants to find love again.
Violet is a nurse who works in the ER with Connor. She’s relatively new to the small town of Lakeside, but she’s crushed hard on Connor from the moment she met him and she’s hoping that he can overlook her awkward clumsiness, and her ability to trip on air, and actually see her.
What Violent doesn’t realise is that Connor has already noticed her, but she’s only 30 and he figured she was too young for him and they were at different stages of their lives. But with a little help from their friends, and Connor’s young son, they spend time together, they become friends (friends with epic chemistry), and soon everything changes.
I love these characters so much! Connor is everything you would expect from an Emma Chase hero – he’s funny and sweet with a huge heart, and though he’s dealing with twists in his life that he never expected, he’s dealing with it the best he can and making a good life for him and his boys. And Violet is a delight. She’s had a difficult life, but she’s smart and sensible, with a great sense of humour; she’s a lot of fun, and the kind of person you’d want as your best friend. They are both real and relatable, and I loved seeing them find their way to each other.
Admittedly, things are a little awkward to begin with. It’s been a while since Connor has dated and he stumbles a bit along the way, but it’s so entertaining watching him figure it all out. And when he does, we get an absolutely gorgeous romance that is sweet, fun, sexy and honest. These two are so blessedly functional, and I loved watching them effortlessly and easily fall for each other.
Connor’s boys are his life, and I love that they played such a big part of the story. From good moments to bad, it’s real life, and Chase writes the boys so well – each with their own distinctive personalities, and each narrated brilliantly by Webber. I love how Connor relates with his boys, and watching Violet come into their lives was fantastic.
The characters from the first two books make an appearance – as do Connor’s other brothers, and I loved being back with this group. Garret and Callie from Getting Schooled are one of my all-time fave romance couples, and I just adored seeing them again. And there are some really special moments for Dean and Lainey from Getting Played. Having said that, though, you can easily read this book as a standalone – just make sure you don’t miss out on the earlier books because they are awesome.
I dropped everything when this book landed in my Audible account, and the audiobook is magic! Like the other books in the series, it’s narrated by Zachary Webber and Andie Arndt, and they truly are the dream team. They bring these characters to life with so much humour and heart, and this book truly was a pleasure to listen to. The only bad thing about an audiobook is that you can’t highlight text, and there is SO much I wanted to highlight. So many funny moments, so many witty comments, and even a couple of scenes that had me tearing up with feels! It's SUCH a gorgeous story, and I loved it so much!
This series goes down as an all-time fave. I love this town, I love these characters, and these books are proof that you don’t need to throw in unnecessary angst and drama to create an epic romance. I adore these functional, fun, swoony romances, and look forward to many rereads in the future.

This was a hilarious, heartwarming, steamy story full of emotion and chemistry. Dr. Daniels is just everything wonderful and delicious! Amazing dad, brother, doctor, and then swoony to the extreme! He has such a beautiful heart, etc. etc. etc.! ;)) I loved this book so much! Loved everything about it! I adored both characters and laughed so hard throughout. I also shed a few tears. It’s the perfect romantic comedy with just the right amount of heart and emotion. Now I need a book for Timmy! <333

This was a hilarious, heartwarming, steamy story full of emotion and chemistry. Dr. Daniels is just everything wonderful and delicious! Amazing dad, brother, doctor, and then swoony to the extreme! He has such a beautiful heart, etc. etc. etc.! ;)) I loved this book so much! Loved everything about it! I adored both characters and laughed so hard throughout. I also shed a few tears. It’s the perfect romantic comedy with just the right amount of heart and emotion. Now I need a book for Timmy! <333

I am swooning. Getting Real is a normal relatable contemporary adult romance. I do love my OTT cheesy, hopeless romantic romance, but I also love the relatable contemporary romance. Miss Chase took a gamble to write the story with 2 characters in the situation where all of us can relate.
Miss Chase usually write a very funny rom com. I enjoy her books. It makes me laugh, smile and forget about my confusing real life.
Connor is a single dad. He is a devoted family man. His relation with his children is sweet. His children love him.
Violet is just Violet. She is real, awkward and relatable. Her clumsiness when she was around Connor is so relatable. I love both of them have their HEA.
The chemistry between Connor and Violet is explosive. Hot, sexy, sweet with a touch of clumsiness and vulnerable.
Overall a very good book.

It's been a while since I've read anything by Emma Chase and it feels like coming home!! The warmth, the humor and just being surrounded by good characters that makes you feel like they're your real family. I loved and missed that when it came to her books and I'm so glad that I started my reading year off right with her words.
Dr. Conner Daniels has always tried his best to be a good doctor and father. Raising three boys as a single dad, having free time is practically non-existent in his book but if you asked him, he wouldn't trade his life for anything in the world. Working with the new nurse for the past two years has been one of the bright spots in his hectic schedule but that’s all it ever will be. That is until one moment changes everything for the both of them.
It’s been two years since Violet moved to the small town and started her career as an ER nurse and she hasn't looked back since. Slowly getting to know her co workers and forming friendships wasn't easy at first but if she had to do everything over again, she would. It also doesn't hurt that she gets to work side by side with the hottest doctor in the entire hospital. If only her heart can beat on a regular level and her legs can coordinate when he’s around, life would be perfect.
After an encounter drastically changes their relationship, Conner and Violet slowly embarks on a relationship that is filled with passion, love, laughter, healing and hope. We were able to witness the exact moment that they both fell in love with each other and we saw them working together as a team and trying to navigate their love life with kids involved. I really liked the relationship that Conner had with all of his kids. He was never perfect and he messed up a few times but it showed the true beauty of being a parent. the ups and downs, the victory moments, and having a kind of fierce love for your kids that feel scary at times.
I’m so glad that I got back to this author’s books because after reading this, there was a genuine smile on my face. If you haven't read anything from this author yet, I highly recommend that you do.

This was a wonderful workplace romance. The hero and heroine were very mature but also sweetly infatuated with each other. I enjoyed this the whole way through and I wanted more!
This was so beautiful and low angst. It was sexy, fun and full of romance. Even when some serious issues and stresses arose, they were both so supportive of each other. It was easy to root for them and I love when I can do that.
I love how steamy Emma Chase writes a story and I had a great time with this single dad and his 3 boys. It was delightful.

Most of the time, beauty lies in the simplest of things.

3.5 ambivalent stars. Emma Chase is one of my go-to romance writers and I’ve really enjoyed the other first two books in this series, but I was most excited about this one because it was refreshing to have a 40ish H. (I can’t do YA all the time.)
The beginning was really easy to get into, seeing Connor’s three brothers was fun and the character development was immersive and believable. Only then my joy over a grounded, mature H was so soundly stifled when Connor, father of three boys (aged 17, 13, and 10), ER doctor, proceeds acting like an immature teenager after having sex with the h for the first time. Ugh. Way to ruin it. The 20 pages it took for that asinine behavior to end felt like 50.
And as much as I like mature-for-her-30-years ER nurse Violet – it still felt like older-man-goes-for-younger-woman-post-divorce syndrome. Why not make her 40 herself? Just so she is more likely to procreate and give Connor the girl(s) he never had? And why make her so clumsy? Even Bella Swan was not that bad. I mean, she never had to be stitched up after running into a wall because of Edward‘s proximity.
Ok, I’m done complaining. My issues notwithstanding, this was still an enjoyable read, mostly because of the characters; especially Connor (when acting age-appropriate!) was relatable and lovable as was Violet. I also enjoyed the cameos of characters from the previous books.
Another win for me was that the mandatory relationship complication was not unnecessarily dramatic and resolved quickly. There is nothing more I hate in romance than drama for drama's sake.
Strangely enough, I could also empathize with his ex-wife Stacy. I actually know several women like her, who got married, had kids, sort of on auto-pilot, because it was expected and they never questioned whether that was what they wanted out of life. So I think Stacey is an excellent reminder to listen to what you want out of life.
(Disclaimer: I did put the book down at the 66% mark for a few months - chuck it up to expectations being disappointed or to a romance reading slump. Glad I finally did finish it.)
Because my love for Connor remains conditional (and because of my other issues), my all-time favorite of Emma Chase‘s will forever be Sustained (chef‘s kiss), closely followed by Royally Screwed.

Getting Real is my favorite in the Getting Some series . Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the two previous books but this one just spoke to me. I mean single dad to three boys, age gap and work colleagues. It couldn’t fail and it didn’t.
The forty year old Cooper delivered on all accounts. Wonderful father, dedicated doctor and loving brother and son. I fell hard for him. His journey after being divorced and venturing out onto the dating scene and also juggling three teenage boys and work. He had a lot on his plate but he was always aware of nurse Violet.
Violet was the perfect woman for Cooper. So cute when she’s clumsy around him but so mature and dedicated to her job too. They complimented each other so well and the chemistry was insane.
Just the little conversations and touches held so much emotion and tension. Then BAM! Sexual explosion. I just reveled in it.
The story was very relatable because of the things both Cooper and Violet went through. The characters from the previous books were a part the story too and showed why this ensemble is truly special.
I’d been waiting for Cooper’s story and my expectations were high. Getting Real beyond exceeded them.

Hello? World? Yeah, hi, it's me. Just calling to check on how you were doing and to let you know I found the queen of rom-coms!
Emma Chase and I go way back. I've read and rant-viewed a couple of her books, and as you can tell, it never went well.
I found this book accidentally while I was looking for the audiobook of a novel my mom recommended to me, last week. By the time I found out about my error, I'd already downloaded, started it and got so hooked on the first chapter I couldn't stop even if I tried.
Getting Real is the third installment of a series, but you can read it as a standalone because, even though some characters are the protagonists of the previous novels, there aren't vital informations you'd miss if you skip the first two books and you get reminded of the things you need to know, anyway.
Doctor Connor Daniels is a divorced father in his forties who's doing his best to survive his ex-wife's antics and growing up three teenage sons without going mad. Violet Robinson is a nurse and she's secretely been into Connor ever since she could remember seeing him for the first time. They work together, have friends in common, but never had the chance to get close. That is, until a wedding celebration and the crafty hands of their friends bring them together...
Nothing to rip your hair out for, if you explain it like this, but what's really great about this book, is that it focuses particularly on the what happens after rather than on the getting together.
Connor and Violet are a lovely, funny and hot couple, and I loved watching them become friends, fall for each other and build a life and routine together.
I'm speaking from the experience of someone who's a mother and a woman in a beautiful relationship when I say that the appeal of their romance is strongly tied to how realistic it feels.
Getting Real is also the proof that rom-coms can be cute and enjoyable even without the angst and toxic trope soup such as the miscommunication one or the infamous love triangle.
Connor and Violet actually discuss their feelings and problems out and spend the rest of the time interacting with other characters, working and being the healthiest, most adorable and sexiest couple ever.
Speaking of sexy...
There are smutty scenes, too, and even though they're pretty descriptive, they're also short enough to avoid becoming cringy. I'm usually not a fan of the most graphic stuff, so the fact that I didn't mind the sex in this book tells something more about the novel than of myself.
Another small thing I've immensely appreciated is that kids and teenagers in this book talk like actual kids and teens. I can't remember how many times I've encountered a fictional child who talked like a literature professor and inevitably rolled my eyes at how forced and fake the whole thing is. Connor's boys were the perfect addiction to this book and they were more than just a garnishment to the main relationship.
I also need to praise Emma Chase's writing. It was funny, fresh and never boring.
I can't tell if this is one of those cases in which an author you don't particularly like, writes that one and only lucky book you end up enjoying, but since I'm not one to look a gift horse in its horsey mouth, I'll be grateful and show all my appreciation, even if it's just this one time.
I'm not giving it five stars because the ending fell a bit into the diabetes-inducing category, but it was overall one of those books I'd probably want to reread during a slump because it's positive, sweet and filled with fluffy feels without ever being trite or dull.
Last but not least, I want to compliment the shit out of the two narrators.
I haven't listened to many audiobooks, so it's not like I have the numbers to use as comparison, but I have two functioning ears and they happen to be attached to my heart, and they both told me this audiobook is pure gold.
Also, extra kudos to Connor's voice actor Zachary Webber, for managing to voice out a conversation between four distinct grown up men and three teenagers, making them sound different.
Bravo bravo bravo.

This is third in a series and characters from the others are pretty present in this one. Not that any story carries over, but I still recommend you read in order.
So this was pretty good. I fell for Violet almost immediately. She was lots of awesome. She had grace under pressure and I love how easily she cares about people, even though her job is a tough one that requires hard choices and carries emotional fallout. I'm not sure I get being hung up on Connor, though, however hot he is in his emergency room scrubs. He's got complicated written all over him and it isn't like he paid her any real attention. Well, until he does once the story starts.
Connor was harder to like, mostly due to the complications. He has three teen(ish) boys and Chase does a fantastic job making them feel like actual teen boys. So he doesn't have a lot of attention to spare and a crazy ex doesn't help things at all. I actually liked seeing him navigate his home life. I was less enamored with his idiocy in their early dating period. Like, he takes his youngest brother's advice on how to treat Violet after they finally get together and I just wanted to smack the idiot. It's like his brains dribbled out of his ears as he forgot that Violet was an actual person.
I got worried when there was so much of the story left but they'd already reached a good place. Both of them knew they were in love and each was (internally) all-in. I was relieved, then, to find that while there was a rough patch ahead, it wasn't a ridiculous and/or manufactured dark moment. I mean, it could have been, but they talk and figure stuff out and end up stronger for it.
I'm going to come in at four stars despite being fully engaged throughout. The early relationship idiocy and a near misread by Violet in the late story both felt a bit rote and a little counter-character. Oh, plus the epilogues (yes, plural) were cloying beyond all belief and only made up for it a little bit with the actual events being pretty awesome.
A note about Steamy: There are a couple of explicit sex scenes putting this in the middle of my steam tolerance, but only just. Speaking of rote, they felt a bit, uh, extra. Like, there were skills. Where the heck did they have time to develop skills?

4 'You are my real life' Stars!

This was the perfect romance to read after the roller coaster of darkness I read before this wonderful romantic comedy. Emma Chase is one of the best in the genre and she did not disappoint with the next installment in this beloved series. I am a sucker of age-gap and single parent love stories and Getting Real gave me everything I hoped for when it comes to these troupes. I was oh-so-ready to go back to this world and these characters and, of course, this new addition is such a delightful treat!
So, Getting Real is the third installment in Chase’s Getting Some series and it continues with the story of Connor Daniels, a recently divorced doctor/single parent in his early forties who is very much focused on that: his job and his three sons. Enter Violet Robinson. She is a nurse working in the same hospital as Connor, she is in her early thirties and she has been crushing on the hot doctor for over two years. She doesn’t think that Connor will ever notice her but, with a little bit of matchmaking and a few pushes, these two start a relationship. But is this just temporary or is it the real thing?
I’m right there—waiting and wanting and already his.
All he has to do is want me back.
Not surprised that Emma Chase gave us another beautiful romantic comedy. Funny, sugary sweet and burning hot, Getting Real is the perfect addition to this series! I do love the Daniels’ family and I was so happy to go back to their world. It’s been a while since the second book, and I did love revisiting this crew of characters (and adding new ones to love!). Connor and Violet are so freaking adorable together and their chemistry sure burns the pages. I loved them as a couple, and I loved them becoming a new family together with Connor’s three sons. Yes, it did have some drama towards the end (my poor heart, I felt so bad for Connor!) but everything got resolved in the end and these two got their much-deserved HEA!
I’m in love with this woman.
Deeply, undeniably, rapturously in love.
She’s perfect for me—precious to me. In every conceivable way.
Therefore, I am rating Getting Real with 4 STARS because, as I said, it was the perfect read after my last one, a beautiful romantic comedy full of banter, family interactions, sexy times and emotions. I loved how Emma developed Connor and Violet’s love story and their interactions with the kids and the rest of secondary characters. I do hope we get more books in this series because I am definitely curious about the rest of this crew!

Not surprised that Emma Chase gave us another beautiful romantic comedy. Funny, sugary sweet and burning hot, Getting Real is the perfect addition to this series! I do love the Daniels’ family and I was so happy to go back to their world. It’s been a while since the second book, and I did love revisiting this crew of characters (and adding new ones to love!). Connor and Violet are so freaking adorable together and their chemistry sure burns the pages. I loved them as a couple, and I loved them becoming a new family together with Connor’s three sons. Yes, it did have some drama towards the end (my poor heart, I felt so bad for Connor!) but everything got resolved in the end and these two got their much-deserved HEA!
I’m in love with this woman.
Deeply, undeniably, rapturously in love.
She’s perfect for me—precious to me. In every conceivable way.
Therefore, I am rating Getting Real with 4 STARS because, as I said, it was the perfect read after my last one, a beautiful romantic comedy full of banter, family interactions, sexy times and emotions. I loved how Emma developed Connor and Violet’s love story and their interactions with the kids and the rest of secondary characters. I do hope we get more books in this series because I am definitely curious about the rest of this crew!

Ad un certo punto però la moglie aveva deciso di andare via e di lasciare a lui la custodia dei ragazzi. A Connor non aveva mai pesato doversi occupare di loro, anzi, erano la gioia della sua vita e fare qualunque cosa in funzione del loro benessere era la sua unica priorità.
Erano trascorsi degli anni ma si sentiva più in forma adesso che aveva quarant’anni rispetto a quando era più giovane. Nel tempo aveva costruito una brillante carriera, stava bene economicamente, i suoi figli si comportavano quasi sempre in maniera meravigliosa e possedeva un cane fantastico. Era un medico del pronto soccorso del Lakeside Memorial e non gli mancava proprio niente, o quasi.
In realtà non aveva una donna.
Si, c’erano state delle avventure, ma con nessuna aveva mai sentito l’esigenza di costruire un futuro. Con Violet però, un’infermiera molto bella dall’aspetto semplice e naturale, affidabile, intelligente e indispensabile nel suo lavoro, sentiva che sarebbe riuscito ad andare oltre. Oltre i limiti che da quando aveva divorziato si era imposto e oltre la semplice amicizia che li legava.
🖋️Si tratta di una commedia romantica dolce e sexy che mi è piaciuta moltissimo.
Connor è un padre single che ama prendersi cura dei suoi figli e lo fa con estrema dedizione, sacrificando però la sua vita privata perché divide il suo tempo esclusivamente tra il lavoro e i ragazzi. Un uomo adorabile e un personaggio davvero facile da amare.
Violet ha dieci anni meno di lui, è solare e allegra, e ha una cotta per lui che la rende spesso goffa e sbadata in sua presenza. A tal proposito è stato esilarante il loro incontro al supermercato, e la gita al parco divertimenti mi ha fatto tanto sorridere.
Mi sono piaciuti moltissimo i fratelli di Connor, disponibili e sempre pronti a sostenersi l’un l’altro, l’autrice è stata brava nel sottolineare il loro affiatamento e la speciale connessione che li unisce.
🖋️Ma Mister Reality è anche una storia impegnativa perché racconta di una separazione dolorosa e di una famiglia che cerca in ogni modo possibile di trovare un nuovo equilibrio nel caos dettato dal cambiamento.

Getting Real...ish
I really enjoyed this audiobook and would highly recommend it for listeners looking for a fairly low-key easy listen. The storyline was captivating, the characters were lovable and the love story was sweet.
In some ways, there were some very realistic life issues that came up while listening, but there were some unreal parts. Seriously, I wouldn't want it any other way in my romance reads, but, this guy was HOT, SMART AND SWEET! Add in the fact that he saves lives for a living and earns a good salary, this guy was the stuff of fairytales. Again, wouldn't want it any other way in my romance reads, but...Getting Real??? More like Getting Real...ish. ;-)
Emma Chase is a great storyteller, so, if you have never tried her stories and you're looking for a new contemporary romance author to try out, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Well. That was just adorable.
I wanted to hit Connor with my kindle a few times in the beginning, but he got over his idiocy really quick. LOL!
This was such a cute love story. Violet is so adorable and so great with his kids and ... just adorable.
And our hot doc - just perfect book boyfriend material!
I loved reading this. I think we should make a tv show out of this town and the families!
But...while this was a super sweet romance ... it was also a tiny bit ... and I hate to say the word ... lame ... especially in the middle part. Nothing really happens. It's just cute dating stuff. I didn't hate it. I hate it when authors give us too much unnecessary drama and weird misunderstandings. But this was maybe a tiny bit too un-dramatic. But the last 30% made up for it.
I really enjoyed reading this - I love happy romances!
And the cover guy? Yum! I usually hate the hand-at-the-mouth thing on covers - but this time it doesn't look creepy-porny. I just love the look of the guy and the colors!
GETTING REAL was an adorable age-gap-single-dad-doc-nurse love story !

I have been a fan of Emma Chase for quite some time. I discovered her years ago and she has given me many a moment of pure pleasure. She has the unique ability to find humor and real feelings all at the same time presenting us with people who are not perfect. Kinda like how people are in real life.
In Getting Real, with have two people who are perfect for each other but due to circumstances, think they are never going to be able to be together. Neither knows that the other is interested until outside forces cause them to see what is in front of their cute faces.
From there, we have people doing stupid things, having to fix the stupid things, and finally realizing how neither was trying to be stupid at all...just being humans making mistakes. Oh, and the sexy times are Emma Chase's perfection.

Irresistibly sweet and sexy and thoroughly enjoyable. Emma Chase easily ticks off everything I love about romance
Connor Daniels is a forty-something, successful doctor. He’s divorced with three well rounded boys. Violet Robinson is a thirty-year-old ER nurse who’s had a crush on Connor ever since she moved to the small town of Lakeside, New Jersey. Not only do sparks fly between the two when they get tricked into going to a wedding together, but Violet also gets along wonderfully with Connor’s kids.
This was such a fantastic read. Getting Real made me smile and feel all warm and gooey inside. It had the perfect mix of sweet, sexy, funny and heartwarming.
Connor is such a great father that my ovaries exploded. He’s also thoughtful, understanding and great at communicating. His age obviously reflects his maturity level, which I really liked. Even though Violet is younger then him, she had to grow up very fast very young and is perfect for Connor. Theirs was a low angst, very sexy and swoony romance.

It never fails that when I pick up an Emma Chase book, I know that it will make me feel wonderful. I laugh, smile, and feel lots of emotion. This book is a swoony, sexy, funny, feel feel good romance with lots of family and friends that make this story all the more entertaining.
Dr. Connor Daniels (42 and divorced dad of 3 boys) and Nurse Violet Robinson (single and 30) are co workers and friends first. Each doing a little crushing on the other but until a wedding throws them together, they actually do have a real connection. I love that they are a sweet buildup. Connor and Vi are real and quirky and their issues are relatable. His 3 kids are wonderful and real too and the ex-wife and mother to his kids throws in a good wrench into the story to keep the drama interesting.
This is just one of those books that embodies a well written romance with all the bells and whistles. I loved every minute of this story and hope that we get more books in the series cause I could never tire of the Getting Some series!!

There’s something so comforting heading into an Emma Chase book. It’s that familiarity of knowing our hearts are going to be fulfilled, our funny bones tickled, and our swoon factors will be getting a workout. And we were right to be excited because Getting Real delivered all that and more! This is the reason why we adore this lady’s writing. It’s that feel-good, heart-swelling emotion she brings to each story, and why our love affair with her books has only intensified over time.
We bloody loved this book and all the characters! In Getting Real, the third book in the Getting Some series, we meet, single Dad, ER Doctor, Connor Daniels…and talk about swoon! Oh boy! Did we fall head over heels for this guy! A 42-year-old Dad divorced dad of three boys was the stuff romance books are made of. Good looking, sweet, sexy, loyal, and a loving father. He was the real deal.

Violet Richardson is a dedicated nurse at Lakeside Memorial, a real sweetheart, and she’s been admiring Dr. Connor Daniels from afar for a while now, not realising Connor has been admiring her too. After a lacklustre matchmaking attempt from Connor’s brother Garret and their friend Dean, Connor, and Violet’s paths cross and sparks fly! But will Connor cock it up before it even beings?
Getting Real gives a poignant and respectful nod to nursing staff which is well-timed, and although there are some emotionally tough scenes, they’re handled with the sincerity and warmth this author is synonymous with, making the third book in the Getting Some series our favourite.
Emma Chase spins a wonderful tale working the alternating POV’s between Violet and Connor brilliantly and thank goodness for both POV’s because had this only been from Violet’s point of view, we may have felt differently. And herein lies the supreme talent of this author that is the ‘male POV.’ Emma Chase shines when delivering Connor’s POV. We felt it all. His humour, his love, his loyalty, his frustrations, his flaws, and his vulnerability. Her talent for penning a sublime male pov is only matched by her talent for writing children so flawlessly and heartfelt. We know Tim’s book is going to be a beauty, and hope we get to revisit Lakeside and the Daniel brothers again soon!

Connor was single dad perfection. Struggling with a divorce and the effects on his sons, he really had their best interests at heart at all times. He was also an amazing guy, doctor, etc. Did he always get it right? No, but he did always make it right.
Violet was such an understanding heroine. I really enjoyed seeing her become a stepmom and girlfriend to Connor. She was compassionate and filled with love. This couple as a whole was a great example of a step family.
This story was so fun, heartwarming. I laughed at the antics of the boys, swooned over Connor, and my heart broke. The conflict, while it was a bit of misunderstanding, it was handled with maturity and compassion.
The narrators were fantastic. They really brought the story and characters to life.
