Belatedly discovering their mother had not actually perished after a fall from the cliffs at Olympus Manor, secrets abound and unravel after Athena Godwin meets Perseus.
A take-no-crap force to be reckoned with, the leader of Medusa Enterprises will not rest until she has the answers she needs. When that lands her in a battle of wills, she’ll do whatever it takes to come out on top. Never could she have predicted the twists and turns that would lead her into danger … and love.
Since beginning this series, I knew Athena was going to be a bada$$ with one heII of a story. She definitely took it to the next level and exceeded all my expectations. I’m so glad we’re not quite done in Heathens Hollow because I’ve come to life it there!

Vipers Are Forbidden is the third and final book in the Gods Among Men series. And in this book we follow Athena's story. I was really looking forward to her story and loved her presence in the two previous books.
She is a ruthless business woman and I love how she carries herself at the start of the book at work. After Phoenix tells her that their mother might not be dead she hires a PI and is after the truth. Her father warns her away but she ignores him and continues her quest to find out what actually happened to her mother.
The PI lets her know that her mother Freya did have a separate life and that her father banished her to a mansion. But sadly her mother passed away a month ago.
She goes to the house and finds out her mother had adopted one man and took care of three others. Only Athena is invited to the will. Apollo and Phoenix aren't. Her mother has a very particular will. She leaves the house to Athena. But she only gets it if she lives there for six months, has no outrageous headlines and stops working to have a fun time. The four men (Perseus, Eros, Paris and Heph) are allowed to live there and have their own list of demands from Freya before they inherit anything.
And that is what kickstarts this story. The men want to have Athena leave the house ASAP. But the more they push her the more Athena wants to stay and bother the hell out of them.
And right from the first meeting onwards all five of them are exceptionally drawn to each other. And lust sores between them. They all want to touch her. And she burns for them a well.
But then a can of worms is opened and mistrust flies between them. What is going on and how can they solve it?
I loved this book so much! It's insanely hot. I love how not only the love between the men and Athena is emphasized. But also the love between the men themselves. Some characters have such a deep growth throughout the book. And I loved that I was a part of it.
The only minus was that I didn't understand Troy Godwin's actions. At the start he is fierce and forbids Athena to dig into the past. But when she easily sends an email that she isn't coming back for six months he just lets her go. It also doesn't make sense that the company could handle her hiates smoothly. She is such a big part of it, so that felt very unrealistic.
I also missed the presence of her blood brothers. I do understand that because there are 5 main characters that it is hard to add anymore. But I just wished they popped up here and there.
But apart from that I absolutely loved this book. 4.5 huge stars from me for this gorgeous book and beautiful trilogy.

A ver... me encantó Athena, una mujer empoderada, fuerte y decidida es justo lo que le falta al 99% del Dark Romance. Harta de tanta sumisa entregada al macho Alfa. Sentí que marca la diferencia, pero... la autora no desarrolló esta faceta.
La trama esta bien, ligera, nada profunda, muy dinámica.
El inicio me gustó, aunque tampoco termino de entender porqué Athena acepta la situación, poca justificación para eso.
Después la novela se transforma en un libro cachondo juvenil más. No tiene nada dark salvo en el inicio.
Son una banda de chicos que va y viene en una mansión desvencijada, un poco de misterio, celos, desconfianza y no mucho más.
Todo muy light, sin profundizar nada.
En los libros anteriores mi idea era que Athena rondaba los 30 años, su personalidad no se explica siendo menor. Pero.. acá parece que tiene 22 o 25, (la autora no se pone de acuerdo),
También me falto un desarrollo del romance... entre algún protagonista, mucha gente para mi gusto. No sentí que ninguno se enamorara de nadie. El poliamor no es lo mío, pero acá mucho poli, poco amor.
Le puse 3 estrellas porque es de las pocas mujeres fuertes creíbles que leí, pero el libro no es lo que promete.

This is the third book in the Gods Among Men Series and it is my favorite. It’s full of suspense, drama, secrets, betrayal, humor, sex, and intrigued. Let’s not forget about Athena the fierce badass FMC and the four sexy band of brothers she took on. You will not want to put this book down.
Athena Godwin is headstrong, powerful and will not let anyone walk all over her. After years of thinking her mother was dead she finds out otherwise. On top of the news she discovers four of her mother’s lost boys who have now been thrusted into her life. She is trying to deal with everything being thrown at her as it comes until they start to underestimate and try to out smart her. That is when she had to show them Athena Godwin the business woman. That fascinates all four men. They become drawn to her. So, why choose?

5-star (ARC) review!!!
Damn damn damn, this book has made me hot in all the right places! It is definitely my favourite out of all 3 books out in this series. Not only is Athena a complete badass but she shows her softer side in this book which in my eyes makes her more badass. Her mother’s sons are all so different but I love their interactions with her. And don’t get me started on the twists this book provided… Definitely a must read!

The third book in the series is about Athena Godwin, 22, badarse extraordinaire.
Through her PI, Athena learns that her mother has died about a month earlier and not seven years ago as her father has maintained. She is even more surprised to learn that she is mentioned in her mother's will.
Attending the will reading, Athena meets her mother's adopted sons
Perseus, the leader of the four. Paris, the resident hacker. Heph, the muscle, most loyal to Perseus. And Eros, the pierced & tattooed Dom.
While the four men do not welcome Athena to "their" home, all five of them have to adhere to the stipulations of Freya's will. In her search for answers about her mother, Athena learns more of herself and the four men. Will they be her saviours or will they claim her life?
I had not expected to like the character of Athena, especially the journey her mother has send her on. While I really do not like RH books, I must admit that this was an amazing read.
The extra layers the different POV's adds to the plot, makes this a unputdownable page turner.

Athena DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
I love a MFC who can hold her own and Athena did just that. We have seen her idgaf attitude in her brothers books. But seeing her softer side in her story just made me love her more! From the first page, you had no idea what was coming. The twists did not stop and made you want to keep reading. And the four bad boys brought out all the stops making sure Athena knew just exactly how they felt about her coming into their life.

Another amazing story in this Gods Among Men series ⭐️
Athena is a powerful, strong woman and no man will walk over her and survive to tell the tale. Her character is envious and admirable and I love that even in her “soft” moments she is still so fierce and loyal to those she cares about.
Perseus, Heph, Eros and Paris are thrust into her life suddenly and she is doing her best to deal with what life has thrown her way. These four men become the fuel to her internal raging fire, keeping her eyes on the future, she tackles the lost boys like she would a business matter, no holds barred. Because she is a Godwin and they always rise above the others.
Gripping and extremely powerful story ❤️

This is book 3 in the God Among Men series. It is best if they are read in order.
I thought I was ready for this book but I wasn’t…lol
I was on this roller coaster of a ride from start to finish. The twists and turns could give you whip lash in the best way possible.
This one is Althea’s story and boy is it a doozy.
Aletha is a viper and will not back down to anything or anyone. She is truly the ruthless one in the family.
Aletha finds herself in a situation after Phoenix tells her that their mother may still be alive.
After finding out some news she must live in her mother house with her mothers 4 protector’s and abide by her mothers wishes.
What she didn’t know was that there was a traitor amongst them.
She wasn’t going to stop u til she found out who it was.
Aletha found herself in the process and became who she wanted to be.

1. Didn't feel chemistry between Athena and two of her men; she spent more time with one over the others
2. I wish she was portrayed as fierce, which she was, but without actually punching others

2. Blurb stated this is a standalone. I haven't read the others yet, so I put it to the test. Yep - can definitely read this by itself and not feel like there's a huge gap or tons of missing info. Although I think it would be better to read the books in order to feel fully immersed in this world.

When Athena's brother Phoenix comes to her with old journals of their mother, who they thought had died when they were children, and suggests that she never died, Athena hires a PI to find answers. What she finds is her mother had been alive all these years and only recently passed away. Now she's out for answers and the only things standing in her way are Perseus, Heph, Eros and Paris. To find the answers she must live with these men who want her body but want her out of their house more. Anything goes to get what they want but what they end up wanting more than anything in the end is Athena. This was a twisted, dark, enemies to lovers book with twists and turns and a mystery that may point to a traitorous snake in the viper den.
Loved this whole series. Athena was just as vicious as her brothers. Her men...the icing on the cake.

This is a beautiful, dark , dirty and at times emotional read and I actually don’t want to share Athena and her boys because I don’t want them being judged and they’re a special family unit it’s almost sacred for lack of a better word and to appreciates them you’ll have to read their story for yourself ❣️📚🔥

Athena is born into a dangerous , powerful and rich family and has not a scared hair on head , she is a force to be reckoned with and cross her path and you’ll regret it ( thinking of the butler ) but there’s also a compassionate softer side to her if I look at how she treated Elle , Paris’s mom she was emphatic, kind , gentle and just showered her with kindness….
Athena was told her mum died by her her own hand and she’s always had her doubts so when her brother and PI does some digging it appears they were both right and wrong … she’s headed to Seattle for the testing of the will and it’s just there where her life is going to change ….
Athena gets to Seattle and is met with a certain degree of animosity , who am I kidding, she was met by a titanic amount of animosity by Freya’s “ sons” Perseus, Heph , Paris and Eros ….
While I get everyone’s reservations I was grateful they got past that and got to know each other on different and intimate levels because if they didn’t they would’ve missed out the most beautifully dark and sensual love story ….
There’s so much to say but how do I do that without spoilers !? What I can say is I loved every page and there was a lot of steam my kindle nearly self combusted but there’s so much more to this story that it’s schmexiness , there’s heart , real people and real emotions ! I recently had the pleasure of delving into Alta Hensley's gripping novel, Vipers Are Forbidden, and I must say, it left me completely captivated! As a fan of dark romance, this book delivered everything I was hoping for and more.

I wanna thank Valentine PR for allowing me to receive this ARC. I was blessed to get the first two books as ARC's from them as well.
Vipers Are Forbidden is the story of the final Godwin sibling. The first two books had our men enjoying themselves but now it's time for our girl Athena Godwin to have her fun too. Unlike the first two books, this one is a "Why Choose" and also LGBT friendly. Normally I'm not one to be for "Why Choose" just not my cup of tea but this one I absolutely freaken loved.
From the first two books, we know that Athena Godwin is a freaken badass who helps her father run Medusa Enterprises, she will be the powerhouse to take over when it comes for daddy to retire.
The previous book revealed a new discovery that leads Athena to want to know more about the mother she thought had passed away when she was fifteen years old.
What Athena ends up finding is a few men who plan to make her life a living hell but they don't realize that this young woman doesn't put up with anyone or anything. Her personality will make each of the men fall for her. Athena will not only fall for these men but will also learn not just about her mother but will also learn about herself and that life doesn't have to be just about Medusa Enterprises.
I recommend this series to anyone who loves Dark Romance, Mystery, and Suspense.

This kept me up late into the wee hours, I had to keep reading until the end. Totally un-put-downable.
Full of secrets, intrigue, suspense, betrayal, action, drama, humour, four beyond sexy anti-heroes and one determined and headstrong heroine, lots of steam, banter and some twists to make your head spin, top off all of that with a brilliant HEA.

Her writing is sharp, engaging and witty. Her stories full of bizarre and colourful characters. Her stories twisted, dark and complex.
Book 3 of Gods Among Men is Athena's story - I waited patiently for this for what felt like forever! - begins at the point the last book left off.
I would URGE you to read these in order, I cannot consider this, in a million years, a stand alone.
Diving down the rabbit hole after Phoenix's shock revelations about her mother, Athena has so many surprises, so many shocks, so much steam so many twists and dark turns....delicious!
I LOVE Athena, now this is a female MC to get behind. Her witty barbs her refusal to simper. I want to be her in the next life.
This is first rate stuff from a quality author in charge of her craft, who was born to spin yarns and share them with her lucky - and in my case at least - adoring public.

Ahh I absolutely loved this! She’s searching for answers only to find out that the person she’s searching for didn’t die all those years ago it only happened last month and at the reading of the will she’s forced into a situation that is less then ideal…or is it?

Let’s start by saying if you think you know what to expect with this book, you don’t, I knew the tropes going into this because the twists and mindfckery had me feeling screwed six ways to Sunday, my mind felt torn to pieces and I stopped guessing what was coming (obviously Athena 😉) because I was so consumed the more I read that my eyes felt like they were bulging out of my head.
As all three books in this series can be read as standalones, I actually started with this one, with it being the newest I thought if I liked then I’d check out the others - and after finishing my decision was made and those books where added to my TBR quicker than you could say four-some 👀
I’ll admit, it took a while for the spice to pick up, but Athena and the snarky goddess that she is gave me enough life that I was willing to wait, she put those men in their places and even single comeback she gave was pure gold 👌🏼 I was eager to know more before it heated up, then I reached the group spice and suddenly I was devouring it like there was no tomorrow.
I was forewarned that the guys had a competitive nature between them when it came to sharing girls, and if that’s what’s considered healthy competition, then show me where to sign, cause I’m ready for my health-kick 🔥🥵

Athena's story. The ice cold business queen of the Godwins is looking for her mother after Phoenix's reveal at the end of his book. Finding she has just actually died and Athena is in the will uncovers dark secrets between the Godwin parents. Showing up for the reading of the will she encounters four would be "brothers" that know her mom and have lived with her all of these years. Eros, Heph, Paris, & Perseus. All are gorgeous with different qualities and all of them hate her and will do anything to get her to leave as they fight for inheritance. Wild stipulations have Athena moving in and doing her business best to put the men in their place. It turns into a seduction with multiple partners that will thaw the ice cold queen and awaken her desires. Decent story but I missed the warnings for swords crossing and bisexual stuff so I skimmed that because no thanks. OK ending but the twist felt rushed to make someone the bad guy and wrap stuff up

Vipers Are Forbidden by Alta Hensley, is the third book in the Gods Among Men Series, in this book we will get to know better the cold and calculating Athena Godwin, this is a powerful young woman who is not intimidated by any man, she is strong and independent, the leader of Medusa Enterprises, who driven by her brother Phoenix's obsession with their mother's diaries, hires a private investigator to find out what really happened to Freya Godwin, even though this is going against her father she is determined to get the answers she need, I do not want to make spoilers since Freya's fate is an important part of these stories, I will not go into much detail, I can only tell you that the news that the private investigator delivers to Athena will change her life, and when she sets out to find more answers she ends up in the middle of a battle of wills when she meets Perseus, Paris, Heph, and Eros, these men consider her their enemy but none of them have any idea how determined Athena is and not to give in before anyone, when situations begin to arise that will bring her closer to some of them and make her targets for others of them, but within this game of wills that seems to have no end, the proof of a betrayal is presented and between these four men a true murderer is hidden.
This story could not be better for a woman like Athena, whom we met in the previous stories and here she truly shows her strength and determination, a story like no other that will captivate you from its first pages, with unexpected twists, betrayals, secrets, sensuality, passion and love, definitely a story you won't want to miss. Highly recommended!!

We had previously met Athena Godwin and learnt what an unrelenting business woman she was but is she a heroine or a villain? Find out in this enemies to lovers, why choose, RH, suspense romance. A dark tale of betrayal and death, anger and guilt, loyalty and friendship, family secrets and drama.
Athena had a strict and controlled upbringing since her mother committed suicide when she was fifteen. Her father taught her to be a ruthless viper to gain respect and be able to handle men while helping to run his empire. Her brother Phoenix had discovered their mother’s journals and was positive she was still alive. Athena had always been curious over her mother’s death so began her own investigation. When her PI confirms Freya was alive but sadly passed away recently, she can’t wait to find out the truth about her.

Perseus, Heph, Eros and Paris were lost boys who became a family thanks to Freya. She
had rescued them and they'd moved in when she needed help. They all have sad pasts but loved Freya. Perseus is controlling, mean and arrogant. Eros is demanding, a flirt with a kinky side. Heph is powerful, devoted to Perseus but has anger issues. Paris is the sweet romantic and calm one, very caring and loving. Perseus gives them all jobs to make her break the conditions of the will and the games begins. They all get annoyed they don’t hate her the way they should and start obsessing over her.
They all intrigue Athena as she gradually gets to know them. Her interactions with them are all different and get very steamy. I loved how she admits that she doesn’t think one man would ever be enough for her and would like several lovers. She hasn’t had much happiness in her dark life so likes the idea of them protecting and loving her even though she’s usually in control.

While they all develop a relationship with Athena, there is another relationship blossoming. Will the men forget the revenge plan when feelings are involved. Could they all share her? Can she have her own harem? I liked that there is more to her underneath her tough and strong exterior. However, things aren’t what they seem and suspicions are aroused as secrets are revealed and truths discovered. The twists were interesting and I was pleased we got everyone’s POV. Would have been nice to have an epilogue but otherwise a good end to the series.
Athena had a strict and controlled upbringing since her mother committed suicide when she was fifteen. Her father taught her to be a ruthless viper to gain respect and be able to handle men while helping to run his empire. Her brother Phoenix had discovered their mother’s journals and was positive she was still alive. Athena had always been curious over her mother’s death so began her own investigation. When her PI confirms Freya was alive but sadly passed away recently, she can’t wait to find out the truth about her.
She is shocked when introduced to her mother’s adopted son Perseus. She is caught off guard with how attractive he is and finds it funny when he threatens her. He is angry she has come to steal his inheritance and cross Freya lied to him as neither knew the other existed. More shocks happen at the reading of the will, especially when Perseus turns up with three equally handsome and sexy men, all determined to safe guard his inheritance.

This book was totally not what I expected and my favorite of the series. This book follows Athena who realizes a new truth which leads her to four men that change her life. This book is less dark compared to the first two and so much better. I loved seeing Hensley's writing approve as the conflicts got better and the storyline got so much stronger. In the first book, I was kind of lost, the second was a bit too dark and this one was just perfect. I loved seeing the character development and the story progress throughout the book. The pacing was fast so I finished this book very quickly as I just couldn't stop reading. There is a pretty good plot twist that I did not expect but I low-key wish it never happened. The book is told from multiple povs which I enjoyed.
This book is mainly told from Athena's perspective. I enjoyed her character and thought she was badass for the way she would stand up to herself. She went through a lot emotionally and had to build a strong layer but I loved how the guys helped her break that by protecting her. Then there is Eros, Heph, Pursues, and Paris. I wouldn't get in too much detail with any of them as one of them is a betrayer. I loved the characters and seeing reading their stories. The romance was well-written and less steamy compared to the first books. It's a poly romance with alphas, enemies to friends to lovers, why choose, forced proximity, and found family.
The ending was kind of rushed in my opinion but still great. I really enjoyed this story and wonder what will happen to this world as I know more books will be coming out. This series gave a wild journey and I wonder what is in store for us next. I recommend checking this series out but beware of triggers.

I have mixed feelings. To start, I would say the book was pretty enjoyable. I loved Athena Godwin at the beginning. She’s a ball buster and she takes no shit from anyone. She’s never to be underestimated. Usually in a Reverse Harem, the guys are always dominant and in charge and the FMC is usually powerless but Athena is never powerless and I love that she puts the boys in their places and never lets them get under her skin. It’s a refreshing change to see the FMC come out on top.
This does slowly start to change as she gets to know the boys and she lets her guard down and becomes softer. It’s great character development but about half way through her personality changes completely and she’s crying all the time and not being very smart about her decisions.
The plot twist threw me a bit. One of the guys is a traitor and is actually the villain of the book. I was disappointed because I liked the character but also the book didn’t really need a villain as it was already angsty, and there was enough tension to keep the book going without it.
I didn’t think Athena actually had chemistry with Hef. He was only there because he loves Perseus. Perseus wants Hef and Athena. Hef wants Perseus and tolerates Athena.
Overall, I liked the book but I wish that Athena’s ball busting attitude had carried all the way through and I wish she had spent more time building her chemistry with Hef because their relationship wasn’t believable.

Vipers Are Forbidden is another amazing five stars read by Alta Hensley. And you have to know that I was waiting for Athena's story from the first book in Gods Among Men series. And I always knew that it will be an amazing one . Athena is smart, strong willed, sassy badass with no - nonsense attitude . I always knew that there is no way she believed the story about her mother's death . And she starts an investigation on her own and that call from Phoenix just proves that she's right. In her search for the truth she discovers more than she's ready for but she takes it all in stride . What she finds about her mother is hurting her more than she gives away. And her mother's will lands her in an unexpected situation and in a battle of wills with not one but for men that are decided on breaking her and driving her away. And when they come strong at her that only intensify her decision to do whatever it takes to get on top. That battle of wills between Athena, Perseus, Heph , Eros and Paris is full of twists and turns, dangerous encounters and... love . Athena finds more than she bargained for and something that she always knew about herself but never got to experience. She's unapologetically herself in her relationship with each one of them. Their characters bring our a different side of her and feed her internal fire . And don't let me start on the steaming hot moments between all of them because they will burn your Kindle. All the witty banter between them is showing how smart she is and what makes her the best in business. When she finds out that among them there is a traitor she deals with the situation like the ruthless business woman she is. Was totally surprised who the traitor is . And I admire Athena more when she rises to the occasion and shows her soft and caring side . Vipers Are Forbidden is one incredible story and an amazing finale to a series . And I need to do a binge read again. That's how good God Among Men series is .
