Wild Ever After is a marriage of convenience hockey romance where he falls firstttttt.

Jade is a commitment-phobic vivacious wedding journalist documenting her upcoming nuptials. Declan is the quiet hockey player content with being in the background. When her ex breaks up with her a week before the wedding, Declan steps up to help her out. For one year they’ll play house and married couple and live in his house. But she didn’t expect him to be her actual DREAM MAN.

This book was fast paced, steamy, swoony, and had me blushing. Declan is an acts of service guy, and there is nothing better. He’s always there for Jade. When she calls, he literally jumps out of the shower, puts his clothes on wrong, and comes RUNNING.

Jade is anti-marriage and anti-commitment because of her mom. She grew up without any stable relationship role models, so she never thought she’d be in a position like she is with Declan. He is quiet, strong, and so steady. I loved him so much 😭

Mehh the heroine was really annoying and the hero was boring. Plot wasn’t interesting enough. Vibes were lacking. Romance was insta-lust with a rushed ending. In Simon Cowell’s voice, it’s a NO from me.

Why did I have to start falling for my husband?

Jade and Declan absolutely stole my heart. Marriage of convenience turned, “I think I’m falling for my possessive cinnamon roll fake husband/brings color to my life fake wife.” Can’t beat it if you ask me.

So Jade is in it for her job and Declan is in it because he’s a pure soul who can’t stand to see Jade lose out on all her dreams because she needs a fake husband quickly, so why not him. They are both insanely attracted to each other, so this isn’t a TRUE hardship. Though spending so much time pretending makes it a little difficult to not really fall for each other. They are both dealing with some traumas from their pasts, so it’s interesting to see them trying to work through those as they navigate through a year long fake marriage. Sigh. I just loved them.

I loved the glimpses at the other players and their partners from the Wildcat series and just those little tastes of found family love that Jenshak always sprinkles into her series. Plus, it doesn’t hurt the little teases of what could come next. Still rooting for a J & E book even if it’s a little age gap taboo 😂

Highly recommend Wild Ever After, and the entire series really, to anyone who enjoys low angst sports romance that has found family and romance you can’t help but root for.

Go Wildcat hockey!

Note- I actually listened to the audible copy (it went live early) back and forth with my digital arc and the audible is so good. Loved the voice actors who brought Jade and Declan’s story to life!

5 stars for Declan. 1 star for Jade.

Jade has been planning her wedding for a year. She’s been documenting it for the magazine she works for and it will be the main feature once the actual wedding happens. BUT her fiancé dumps her. If the wedding doesn’t happen Jade has two choices: 1. Get fired or 2. marry a random guy. This is where Declan steps in and volunteers to be her groom.

Declan: I *loved* him in the past couple books as a side character. As the main character I truly fell in love with him. He’s so giving, sweet, caring, and would do anything to make his people happy.

Jade: I hated her. I hated her so much. She didn’t give a shit about anyone or anything besides her career and money. She didn’t care what she had to do or who she had to trample over to become a success. I hated her mind set and it was so annoying.

Declan saved this book by being amazing. And Jade…well…she was there. Her ex was right to dump her tbh.

Jade Davis is engaged, and has spent months planning the perfect wedding and writing about it for the bridal magazine she works for. Life is good. She has her dream job, and is set to get married in less than a week when her fiance abruptly calls off the wedding. Suddenly her life is total chaos as she's trying to figure out how to salvage her image and her career. Then a man she barely knows saves the day when he offers to step in as her groom. Declan is a Wildcat hockey player, and her current hero. The wedding is still on track to be the feature story, and she now has to play the part of a woman in love. As she spends time with her new husband a connection forms, and a friendship grows into more. Could she finally have something worth fighting for, and get the true fairytale?

Declan Sato is a twenty eight year old bachelor who just bought a big house he's enjoying remodeling. He's an NHL star in Minnesota who just signed a seven year contract with the Wildcats. He goes from happily single to a fake husband practically overnight when he saves the day for a beautiful redhead named Jade. They somewhat know each other and run in the same circles. She is best friends with his teammate's fiance. Jade has always fascinated him and he can't deny he's drawn to her. They are having fun while getting to know each other when he realizes he might actually want to date her. When everything between them starts to feel too real will he break all the rules and fall for his wife?

Wild Ever After by Rebecca Jenshak is the third standalone story in the Wildcat Hockey series. If you've read the first two books in the series then you already adore Declan, and know Jade as Scarlett's best friend. I already thought of Declan as a great guy, but he's swoony to the extreme when he finds his person. This sexy, dreamy man with have your heart from the beginning. Opposites attract in this fabulous marriage of convenience, friends to lovers, sports romance. I love this series so much and need more from this world! <333

imagine declan as a young james marsden if you decide to read this book! you’ll need to.

jade and declan were insanely tedious to read about considering there was nothing ever really taking place between them. hell, there wasn’t even an actual scene of their wedding ceremony and they’re supposedly meant to be in a marriage of convenience?

there were some amorous, enchanting, and hilarious moments but none of it seemed to be deeply and strongly felt. the picture that jenshak drew of jade and declan didn’t quite fit the frame.

jenshak can save this series with ash’s book and i KNOWWW she can do it!

Another amazing book in this series. I love this Wildcat family so much.

I am absolutely in LOVE with Declan Sato. He is EVERYTHING to me. The way he loved Jade and would do anything for her made me so happy but also sad because why can’t fictional men be real!!!!!

I love Rebecca’s style of writing, I devour her books every single time!

I can’t wait for the next book in this series (I am hoping Jack and Everly get a book eventually!!!)

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: fake marriage
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely loved it! Jade's ex bails on her right before the wedding. The problem? Jade was using her wedding "journey" as inspiration for articles for work - all with work footing the bill. Now she has no husband and if she can't find someone to stand in, she may be out of a job as well. Declan always has admired people willing to fight to get ahead. And when he hears of Jade's "issue" he's willing to step up since the publicity wouldn't hurt. Neither of them foresee catching feels when they both barely believe in love.

I sincerely loved this story. Ironically, when the book first started, I had a hard time with Jade. She's a bit of a hot mess, but is super driven and her focus makes her tone deaf to both her motivations as well as the fall out of her actions. But she totally grew on me. Her past trauma is relatable and really, she was the perfect complement to Declan. She is super outgoing and is always the center of attention. Declan is super serious and quiet and always tries to duck out when the focus is on him. His strengths support her shortcomings and the flip side is true as well - so it works. Also, despite their differences, they both have a lot in common because of their pasts and feelings of not being good enough or deserving enough. Just a super sweet, kinda-angsty story that will leave you with a smile on your face.

Wild Ever After is the third book in the Wildcat Hockey series, but it could be read as a standalone.
Declan and Jade are the main characters, they will be supported by their friends in order to bring off the best of their marriage of convenience.

Jade is dumped by her fiancè few days before the wedding but she can't cancel the event without lose everything, her job, her finance security and her future. Here comes Declan who in a very chivalrous move offers himself as future husband. Everthing starts with a prenup contract but it will end with a break up?

Opposites attract, this is the only explanation to describe this couple.
Jade is eager and chatty. Declan is quiet and reserved. Together they work really good, they make each other better and they bring out such deep feelings they didn't know they have into themselves.

Rebecca Jenshak gave us another good and entertaining romance, I love her writing, her storylines are never repetitive and her characters are always unique.

I highly recommend to read this book, trust me you won't put it down once you started it.

This book was drama free and with the just the perfect amount of spice - exactly how I like a romance novel to be. Honestly, Declan and Jade served right from the beginning. A marriage of convenience coupled with "he falls first and harder for her" AND a sports romance??? Yep, that's a perfect recipe for a book no lie. Dec was literally so cute and soft and Jade was a character that I related to on a very personal and deeper level. These two were giving couple goals frrrr😩❤️ This was my first ever read by Rebecca Jenshak, but it most definitely won't be my last! Loved, loved, loved this book and I look forward to reading more of this author's work🥰

Tropes/Themes:
-MF contemporary sports romance (professional hockey)
-Professional Hockey Player x Wedding Journalist
Marriage of convenience (the heroine is basically getting married so she can document it for her job…but after her fiancé breaks up with her days before the big day, the hero offers to step in as her groom)
-Opposites attract
-Forced proximity (they agree to stay married for 1 year, they also move in together)
-Hero falls first
-Dual POV
-Book #3 in an interconnected standalone series

Nope….nope nope nope. I really liked the previous two books in this series, so I’m a little surprised this ended up being such a huge miss for me. Based on the raving reviews online, it seems like I’m the outlier for whatever reason.

I’ll keep this review short because I literally don’t want to think about this book anymore:
-The heroine Jade was self-centered, selfish, insensitive, immature, and absolutely intolerable. She was honestly my biggest issue with the book. I never saw any character growth, self-reflection, or accountability on her end. She constantly played the victim and blamed all of her relationship issues and emotional intelligence on the fact that the mother cycled through relationships.
-It felt like Declan’s development and personality was an afterthought due to the amount of time focused on Jade. I liked aspects of his character a lot but felt like I could only like him so much due to how one dimensional he felt.
-There was absolutely no chemistry or relationship development whatsoever.
-The plot itself was lackluster and only focused on things I didn’t care about whatsoever (like stupid Jade and her stupid job).
-The side characters were 1000x more interesting than the actual couple
-The 3rd act conflict was ridiculous and not romantic in the slightest.
-Justice for Declan because he deserved so much better

I usually never write reviews like this, but to be honest this was pretty darn cathartic. I’m hoping I was able to sufficiently cleanse myself of this book and will now be able to jump back into Rebecca Jenshak’s backlist with a clear head and a saltless heart.

"I'd do it. I'd marry you, if you wanted."

Rebecca truly shows that she is the queen of writing hockey romances and Wild Ever After is pure evidence of that. This is a marriage of convenience, forced proximity romance where the mmc falls first. I promise you will be swoooning over Declan Sato!!

Jade is a writer for a wedding company and gets the wonderful gift of having her wedding fully paid for in exchange for full coverage of all the services. But, when Jade's fiancee breaks things off a week before their wedding, she scrambles to find someone to fill in as her husband so she does not get fired from her dream job. Enter Declan: quiet hockey player who is a real life ANGEL. He steps up to help her and for a year, they'll move in together as a married couple. What could go wrong?!

This book was fluffy and romantic. Declan's love language is for SURE acts of service and it so so cute seeing how much he pays attention to Jade. Literally, anything she wants, he will get her. I love this series SOO much. The found family element is beautiful and I CANNOT wait for what Rebecca has planned for the rest of the Wildcat boys!! (Ahem ahem, Jack + Ash)

4.5!

I’ve read almost all of Rebecca Jenshak’s books, and her books do it for me every single time. She writes some of my favorite reading-slump-curing, fun sports romances, and Wild Ever After was no different 🤩 It felt so good to be reading one of her books again!

Essentially, this story is about Jade, who needs someone to marry in order to save her job. In comes Declan, our strong, silent hockey player who swoops in to save the day. They’ve known each other for a while through mutual friends, but we see them get to really know each other in this book. Though they get thrown into a very unconventional situation, Jade & Declan quickly realize that they get each other on a deeper level than either of them expected and the cutest romance blossoms between them 🫶

Jade is an independent, ambitious girlboss 🔥 I absolutely loved her character and really related to the ways that she struggles to trust people. All hail Declan because he was so perfect for her — the calm to her storm, if you will. He was so sweet to Jade and never failed to show up for her even when she doubted him 🥹 Jade has a skewed idea of love because of her upbringing, but it was so cute watching Declan prove her wrong. He would really do anything just to make Jade happy, and I just wanted a Declan for myself 🥲 Also, it really always is the quiet ones y’all… 👀

Overall, I really enjoyed Jade & Declan’s story! I liked how the book focuses on them forming a connection, and I enjoyed the little moments in which they fell for each other a little harder as time went on. I loved this series from the start, so it’s really heartwarming to see a found family forming between all of the characters 😭 And I can’t wait for the upcoming books because I have been DYING for some of the other hockey players — *ahem* Ash *cough* and Jack — to get their time in the spotlight! 🤭

Thank you so much to Rebecca Jenshak for the physical copy & e-ARC of this book! 💖

Wild Ever After is the third book in Rebecca Jenshak’s Wildcat Hockey series and this one has a hockey hero, wedding journalist heroine, opposites attract, and a marriage of convenience!

Jade works as a wedding journalist and her job is pushing for her to get married to her boyfriend, they’ll even pay for the wedding, for the content! But right before the wedding is supposed to happen, her husband-to-be backs out. Jade was already having second thoughts before but her boss is expecting a full-blown wedding event and she needs a new husband-to-be quickly! Declan plays hockey/is teammates with her best friend’s husband and they’re part of the same friend group. He ends up being with her the night her boyfriend calls it off and offers himself up for the marriage of convenience!

“If you weren’t already my wife, I’d ask you to be my girlfriend.”

Neither Declan or Jade ever thought of marriage for themselves so they’re both fine with the marriage of convenience. They have to stay married for 1 year (per her boss’s requirement for paying for the wedding) and we get forced proximity too when they live together! We see them go on a paid honeymoon/island vacation, we hand a pierced hero 👀, and they just have fun and decide if they have to stay married for a year, they might as well make the most out of it! 🔥 This whole series is low angst and just fun! Books 2 and 3 I enjoyed more!

Jade’s shenanigans in the previous books had me wary of her and her love story. I was so wrong.

She’s been planning her wedding for professional reasons–don’t ask–for a while, but her less than enthusiastic fiancé breaks up with her days before the big day. Thankfully, Declan, the helpful and generous guy in the group, offers to be the groom. And they fall in love, of course.

Yeah, the premise made me cringe too. But the author pulled it off beautifully.

So Jade never dreamed of marrying due to past bad experiences, but she’s willing now that a magazine wants her to write about the whole process. She’s ambitious, for sure, but like an Instagram model: she works hard, but she also wants to succeed as fast as possible, and chooses the easiest path, in my opinion. Hence making the worst decisions ever. Repeatedly. All in the name of The Job. To be honest, it didn’t make me like her at all. At first. Because she ends up redeeming herself.

Declan, on the other hand, is the perfect book boyfriend. He’s hard working and loves to help people. He’s just an overall good guy. There’s a hint that he was already interested in Jade before he offered to marry her, and I loved that.

They have a big support team around them–some already in a relationship, others ready to have their own book–and that makes for lots of great ensemble scenes. They’re usually quite funny, because together they tend to banter, but there were deeper conversations too, and not just between the girls.

Sexy times were great! Jade and Declan are compatible for sure, and their chemistry is off the charts.

My main complain is that we don’t see much hockey here. But really, the book focuses on the relationship, and while the groom being a hockey player is a big deal in the story, we barely see Declan on the ice. Which is quite understandable: he doesn’t have any growing to do as a hockey player, he’s already at the top of his game; in the meantime his personal life is at a standstill, and having Jade in his life is what’s going to change his priorities.

The author knows her stuff. She’s added one more extra swoony hero to this series. Does she ship Declan worldwide?

Quickie

- Series: Wildcat hockey #3 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #hockey romance #fake wedding #opposites attract
- Triggers: mention of drug use and overdose, slight parental neglect
- Main couple: Jade Davis & Declan Sato
- Hotness: 4/5
- Romance: 5/5
- + wow I didn’t think I could fall for another Wildcat player, yet here I am
- – Jade makes the strangest decisions… but without them, there wouldn’t be a story

✿ hockey romance
✿ forced proximity
✿ found family
✿ steamy🔥

I want to begin by saying a HUGE thank you to Valentine PR for sending me an ARC of this stunning book!

Now onto my review!

These books are honestly shaping up to be an incredible, hockey romance series! Each installment gets better and better and is full of so much love and entertaining banter. The connections that these characters have, not only with their partners, but with their friends makes this world so wonderful to be immersed in. I can't get enough of the rowdy gang of hockey bros and intelligent female characters!

Declan and Jade were such a fun couple to read about! I loved all of the tropes in this book and the spice was immaculate!! This one may possibly be my favorite in the series, but I honestly love them all in different ways so it's hard to say. All I know is, is that I will forever recommend these books and am looking forward to book four!

Alsooo why do I sense some tension between Jack and Everlyyyy. Like I'm now dying for them to be a couple. The age gap trope lover in me is livingggg for it!

What I LOVED:
❤️ Declan constantly calling Jade "my wife" without fail
❤️ THE SPICE. as always, rebecca jenshak slays
❤️ A certain hospital scene that had me swoooooning over Declan eeeee!
❤️ The found family aspect and glimpses into the previous couples' lives :')
❤️ Um HELLO!? They binge watch One Tree Hill together... obvi endgame material
❤️ Declan's acceptance of the stinky chair *swoon*
❤️ So many little gestures that had me crying
❤️ Their conversations!! This may sound weird but the words they exchanged with each other were so precious, they truly truly loved one another <3

What Didn’t Work for Me:
❤️ Jade had me a bit frustrated at times (especially with the way she treated Declan some moments) but she was still pretty likable!!

This fake marriage, sports romance was so entertaining and has a super swoony hero, Declan. He’s a quiet, attentive sweetheart that I absolutely adore.
Jade is very focused on her career and she doesn’t like to lean on anyone or feel indebted. Which becomes an issue when hockey hottie, Declan steps in to save the day at the last minute to marry her.
The reasons for both characters entering the fake marriage was a fresh take on the trope that I really felt made the story really interesting and unique.
Both characters have very small circles of found family. They don’t let people in easily and they don’t have any strong family ties. It’s something that bonds them and helps them understand each other on a deep level.
Jade is bold, vivacious and outgoing.
Declan is reserved, stable and content to stay in the background… until Jade. She flips his world upside down in some fantastic ways.
It’s super steamy with cute interactions between the couple. I love the struggles they face as fake and real relationship lines gets blurred.
The romantic moments were fantastic, I liked both characters very much and I liked them together. I think they are great opposites who mesh well.
Both had painful, sad childhoods that made it easy to understand the ways they emotionally handled the relationship, both in very different ways, though. Another way they balance each other and have an understanding.
It’s a really enjoyable, sweet, smart and sexy romance.
I love the secondary characters of hockey players and their significant others who’ve appeared in previous books in the series.
I can’t wait for the next in this series, I love the character and I think I know who his love interest will be and it should be very interesting!
This is another great addition to the series!

What she didn’t expect is for him she willing forget about her ani-marriage and committee issues for Declan

I love Declan but didn’t really enjoy Jade I just want to scream at her sometimes. AAAHHHH!!!!!

This book is so emotional, steamy, swoony. I loved all the side characters Ash, Jack, Leo, Mav, Ty, and the girls and their relationships with each others

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

Could Declan be more perfect?
Seriously guys... I was obsessed with Tyler before, and now I'm in love with Declan!

Jade was always a free spirit kind of girl, but deep down she was full of scars and trauma related to her mom's past relationships, which made her skeptical about real life happily ever after.

Declan was the quiet one between his loud teammates, but he didn't think twice before stepping in and saving Jade's job and life!

The whole story is sweet, almost drama free and with great moments between them as a couple and them with their friends.
My only complaint here is that I wished for more detailed scenes between the sheets... That piercing of his should have a lot more of screen time! 🔥🔥😂😂.

🎧 About the Audiobook Narration 🎧

The narration was flawless with Connor Crais and CJ Bloom, two of my favorites, that gave life to Declan and Jade like they really deserved!

Thank you Valentine PR for my gifted audio copy.

I loved this book! While it’s part of a series, I listened to it as a stand alone. Jade is a determined and hardworking writer for a Bridal magazine. When her long anticipated wedding is called off, Declan steps in.

Declan knows what it’s like to work hard and only have yourself to depend on. He’s happy to help Jade with this marriage of convenience. One year, rules for living together and a let’s get it out of our system later, they may actually be falling for each other.

The narration is so good! Connor Crais always does a fantastic job and brings Declan to life. CJ Bloom is a new narrator to me, but I really enjoyed her. This was a fun, easy and sexy listen. This is also my first book by Rebecca & I can’t wait to read more of her books.
