Forever #5

Forever Us

Rate this book
My first one-night stand since my messy divorce was perfect. I drove to a bar an hour away from the small town I now call home.

I should’ve driven two hours because Mr. Perfect is actually Officer Matt Turner, and he’s my school's new Resource Officer.

Matt has no interest in a relationship, thanks to his parents, and that’s fine with me. I’m busy raising my two girls by myself.

But when he steps in to help us when we really need it, I’m tempted to give him more than just one night.

I’ve been burnt by the promise of forever before, but I want to believe it’s different for us.

Forever Us is a small-town contemporary romance book. It is book five in the Forever Series but can be read as a standalone. It features a struggling single mom, forced proximity with her younger one-night stand, and two precocious kids with no filter. Forever Us features sexually explicit material, profanity, and some content that may be triggering. This book is intended for readers 18+.

This was such a beautiful romantic story. And the cherry on the top was that it was a perfect amalgamation of sweet, fun and entertaining. I loved it. I loved how it really pulls at the heartstrings, and I loved watching the MCs (Victoria and Matt) overcome so much and to find their way to each other. The Mcs personal growth was one of the main highlight for me. Now, I can't wait enough to for the next instalment in this series already.

Victoria, a single mom of two girls. Divorced from a horrible marriage. Had a one night rendezvous a few months back but being a single parent doesn’t have much time for herself. Her daughters are so sweet and the littlest one reminded me of my daughter so much. Struggled to say certain words, only had one volume. I’m not sure if the author was alluding to neurotypical child, but mine is and it maid me feel closer to the characters.

Matt the one night rendezvous from a few months prior takes a new job.. and runs into Victoria. He’s a super commitment phobe, and for pretty good reason.

Obviously things heat up.. he falls for her kids. Helps her in many ways. A really beautiful love story. Also mixed with some really great side characters. And ehem…. No 3rd act breakup!

The only reason this isn’t a 5 star is there’s something that happens in the epilogue that completely ruined her progress in my opinion. It was baffling and unnecessary.

In ‘Forever Us’ we meet single mom Victoria. After a horrible marriage to a horrible guy she ends up with her two girls working her butt off to make ends meet. Although she is at times sad and very tired, her new house and community make everything better. The last thing she expected is to find out her one-night stand, the only one she ever had, is working with her.

Although they had only one night together, both Victoria and Matt soon realize that night was a lot more than just a single night. They have this amazing chemistry between them, and they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Especially when Matt feels so protective of Victoria and her two girls, and all he wants to do is take care of her.

‘Forever Us’ was definitely a fun read. I enjoyed getting to know Victoria and I truly loved her. She was so hardworking and determined to make her girls life better. I loved her determination. And reading about how Victoria was treated by her ex made me want to castrate him. Boy what a horrible guy!

The romance between Victoria and Matt was sweet and I enjoyed reading about them a lot. Some moments between Matt and Victoria’s friends felt a bit odd, but it didn’t bother me to much. It definitely made me curious about reading the other books in this series. And there where plenty of steamy moments.

One major disappointment for me was the ending and the epilogue. The ending felt very sudden, and I felt like it just ended right in the middle of things. And then the epilogue.. I’m not going to tell you what was wrong with it, because it would be a spoiler, but it was just so wrong.

Overall ‘Forever Us’ was a fun read with a lot of fun stuff. Although the epilogue didn’t work for me at all, I still find myself curious about the other books in this series.

Victoria Wallace is a single mom of two, and after a one night stand, she runs into the same guy at work, Matt Turner. From trauma, Matt thinks he doesn’t want a real relationship, but after Victoria, his mind changes, along with getting to know her kids.

I enjoyed reading this book! There was a lot of back and forth with not knowing what to do regarding the relationship that felt very repetitive to me. But nonetheless, I liked reading this! I wish I read the previous books in the series to understand the dynamics and who is with who since there are a lot of side characters. I will always love the found family aspect, and I really liked how their friend group is one big family who make them feel safe and comfortable.

Victoria’s kids were the cutest. They captured Matt’s heart so quick and truly just want to see their mom happy.

Victoria is a single mom of two precious girls, just trying to make it work. But after a friend convinces her to a night out, she meets Matt. No last names, no hometowns, as they meet in a bar in nearby Colorado Springs. The first day of school, Matt has a new job at Victoria’s school. I enjoyed this book; I admired Victoria’s independence. Neither has had the best role models; mistakes are made.

Join their found family, as both the biological ones are less than stellar, as they work through past hurts. Blair will steal your heart, just as she has stolen mine.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Thank you to Grey’s Promotions and Jennifer J. Williams for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I enjoyed the premise of this book. I thought that Victoria’s girls were absolutely precious and added a much needed levity to the plot. I had a hard time connecting to Matt or Victoria individually, and especially as a couple. I just felt like they were both back and forth quite a bit, which made it hard for me to root for them. I see I’m in the minority because many people have enjoyed this so far, I just don’t think it was for me!

A mixed bag of feelings

Overall, this is a sweet and steamy single mom meets swoony playboy story. It’s also a story of damaged people struggling with their baggage and sometimes making bad choices based on that baggage.

Victoria is a year out from a messy divorce to a complete D bag. Someone who not only continues to treat her like trash, but married the teenage nanny and has no qualms about leaving Vic and his kids virtually destitute while he lives off his family’s old money wealth. He rarely sees his kids, and when he does he’s not even involved and leaves them with the new wife who hates them. Vic gets one night without her two kids and is literally pushed into meeting Matt, and has an explosive one night stand they both remember long after it ended. Matt is a playboy and self proclaimed man whore. He’s a one night wonder, swearing off relationships because his own parent’s marriage was so bad. Even though he has admittedly always snuck out of the room after his hundreds of one night stands, he is shocked when he wakes to find Vic gone, commenting that “it stings”. That’s Karma, buddy. Fate brings them back together unexpectedly when he takes an SRO position at the school she works at. They get off on the wrong foot when he gets flustered and accuses her of stalking him.

These two have chemistry, but they also both have baggage. She has trust issues and has been beaten down by her elitist parents and husband. She’s struggling to raise two kids mostly on her own. He’s watched his parent’s toxic relationship all his life, and it has warped his thoughts on relationships. For the most part, watching them figure it out was enjoyable.

Unfortunately, there were a few parts where it was hard to like Victoria. She has a tendency to overreact and it made her unlikable at times. It was implied that the playboy with relationship aversions was going to be the challenge in this relationship, but it was really her. After their first hookup after they reconnect, she awakes to him gone. He had come to her after the funeral of another cop that was killed in the line of duty. He was distraught, and said he just wanted to hold her. She is the one that asked for more, coming on to him. Then she becomes enraged when he is gone, insisting he used her. She even states that she told him she wanted a relationship not a hookup, and made it very clear. But that is actually not true, they did not have that conversation. Her anger felt completely OTT. Even her daughters commented on her anger, one saying that she was scaring them. When he gives her flowers to make up for his radio silence after leaving, she literally throws them at him. It was a lot OTT. The third time they have sex is right after he tells her that he wants to try having a relationship. When he insists on using a condom, she turns into the ice queen and has a big fit, pushing him away and ending things. It seemed ridiculous to be enraged over such a thing. I mean, seriously?

I loved his relationship with her daughters. I love that he came to her rescue and stood up to her douchy ex. I loved all the “found family” that supported her and her girls. I loved that the guys were protective over her and stepped in for an intervention with Matt. I loved Matt’s mom and how she became Grammy the second she met the girls.

The ending was rather abrupt. Everything was just suddenly resolved off scene and we were told about it in the epilogue. There are two epilogues, hers and his. I actually hated the first epilogue. For some reason, the author decided to turn it into a Hallmark movie and make everyone suddenly turn nice. Her sleazy abusive ex “sees the light” and decides to become best friends with her and Matt. The guys even go fishing together. He was a pretentious jerk who couldn’t tolerate sitting in a diner to meet Vic for a discussion, but suddenly he’s down with fishing with commoners? The nanny new wife who was awful to her and openly hateful to her children is now friendly, and they all go to counseling together. The ex even walks her down the aisle 🙄🙄 I can’t with the about face. It honestly ruined the whole book for me. Totally unbelievable. 🤮

The second epilogue was much more enjoyable and it was fun to see a glimpse from a few years later. So overall a mixed bag. Yes, it was an enjoyable read (up until the epilogue). No third act breakup or OW / OM drama. Just a few OTT moments that made me cringe with annoyance, but overall a sweet and spicy read.

Forever Us had some great moments, some funny moments and some adorable moments cutesy of Victoria's adorable little girls, Blaire and Molly with Blaire stealing the show, the heat comes from 5 years younger Matt Turner, who happens to be the newly appointed school police liaison officer at the girls school and awkwardly the school Victoria works at, why awkward you may ask, because months before the couple had a one night when divorced Victoria was in the city, so things are about to get messy, as realtionship shy Matt is starting to have feelings for not only Victoria but the two little girls that have wormed their way into his heart, but he is realtionship shy for a reason and that creates a lot of push and pull in this story as he tries not to let past interfear with the present, Victoria is dealing with a very horrible ex husband and his new wife so developing feelings for Matt has come all at the wrong time, especially when she doesn't know where she stands, but when swoon Matt comes out all bets are off, I loved the little gifts Victoria leaves Matt, and the girls just added that extra warm factor.

However, I did struggle with the star rating at the end, I was all set with a 4.5/5 rating, and then the epilogue happened although it is a HEA, there is a part of it that just didn't sit right with me because of the storyline, maybe if there had been some more explanation then it may have worked, but in this instance, it knocked it down a star.

🚓 School Resource Officer/Teachers Aide
🍼 Single Mom
🚓 Former one night stand
🍼 Found family
🚓 Hurt/Comfort

I’ve not read the rest of this series, so some of the nuances of this one in terms of the friend group went over my head, but I did love the dynamic of the wives having a group chat and the men having a group chat.

Matt and Victoria started as a one night stand and three months later discover that they are now coworkers as Matt is the new school resource officer for the elementary school the Victoria works at and her daughters attend. Their story is heartwarming, literally in that Matt’s heart of ice warms to Victoria and her girls.

There are a few high stakes scenes that I loved their interactions during and after. I loved how Matt interacted with the girls and how easily he melded into their lives. I do wish that we saw more of Matt’s working dog Boomer, because it felt like he kind of faded away after his initial purpose of getting the girls’ attention was fulfilled.

The book also felt like it ended abruptly. Like I felt like I was missing 3 or 4 chapters and all of the sudden I got the epilogues. In the epilogues, there were a couple things that had me scratching my head, but overall, I loved this cute story.

4🌟 2.5🌶️

This was such a fun read! Forever Us follows Victoria and Matt who have a one night stand in the summer, thinking they are never going to see each other again. However, they soon found out that they are both working at the elementary school where Victoria and her two little girls have been working/ going to school.

I really enjoyed Victoria and her two girls, Molly and Blaire. Victoria is a single mom who is struggling to give her and her girls a happy life after her divorce from her trash ex-husband. I felt for her so much in everything she was going through. Vic had so much on her plate and she definitely was not giving herself enough credit for all she was doing.

Then there is Matt…oh Matt. I love nothing more in a romance book than a reformed player who thinks he’s not good enough to be in love and have someone love him , then finds the woman for him. Matt was such a great guy and I loved how much he was there for Vic and her girls. Even though it took him a while to come to terms with the fact that he was worthy of a relationship, i’m so happy with how the book played out.

The plot was so fun and kept me engaged the whole time. There isn’t a ton of spice but the spice you do get was so good especially the phone sex scene🥵

Victoria is a single mom with two daughters. She was divorced from what seems to have been a terrible marriage. She had a one night stand with a guy a few months back and now he's here, in town working at the same school she works at and the same school her two daughters go to.

The realisation quickly hits Matt and Victoria that the one night stand may not have been just a one night stand. Both Matt and Victoria have amazing chemistry and they have a bond which they cannot deny.

Victoria is a very determined single mother that wants to make her children's lives better no matter what she has to risk.I was really upset with the ending because it felt rushed and i felt there could have been a better way for the story to end with a less fast paced ending.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed Matt and Victorias book. This is the fifth book in the Forever Series and can be read as a standalone. This is the first Jennifer J. Williams book that I have read and I will most definitely be reading more of this series. I cannot wait to see what Jennifer J. Williams is working on.

Oh my gosh, this was so freaking cute! I so thoroughly enjoyed jumping back into this story.

I loved seeing Victoria come into her own. When we met her a few books back, she came off as very meek and timid, but her personality really got to shine in this book and Matt definitely helped with that.

Part of the reason why I enjoy this series so much is that while there is always a little bit of drama getting the relationship on track, there isn’t this huge big moment of crushing angst. This book had lots of twists and turns but it was all still very sweet with funny banter to lighten it up.

It also had just the right amount of spicy scenes. They were detailed enough to keep things interesting but there was still plenty of plot to go around.

The epilogues were probably my favourite part. I loved getting to see Matt and Victoria’s life with their family a few years later. Molly as a teenager sounds like an absolute bundle of fun 😂

All in all, this was a very sweet yet spicy small town read and I can’t wait for the next book! The sneak peek of Chase’s story was clearly designed to torture us and I’m already counting down the minutes till Fall 2023!

This was my first Jennifer J. Williams book, and it most definitely will not be my last! I loved everything about this small town romance. You’ve got not only the one night stand trope, but also single mom, and younger guy/ older woman trope, as well! Matt is a confirmed bachelor who has let his parents’ messed up marriage cause him to not believe in love. Victoria is a single mom determined to be happy in her life with her two girls after the trauma of her first marriage. Imagine her surprise when her one and only one night stand just so happens to be the new Security Officer at her job. Matt and Victoria feel the insane pull and attraction towards each other, but they’re both hesitant and full of fears. However, when Matt decides he’s all in, this man is ALL.IN! The swoon factor with this man was so strong and irresistible! How he not only dated Victoria but also her daughters, as well, was the sweetest thing ever! This confirmed bachelor falls fast and he falls hard! And Victoria is the perfect woman for him. The sweet things she does for him, and the way she reassures him that he’s worthy of love was fantastic! This was a wonderful small town romance!

A one night stand may seem like a great idea when you’ve gone far enough out of town not to bump into anyone you know, but what happens when you both had the same idea and now it turns out you work together? Victoria is fresh off a messy divorce and working as a paraprofessional to keep the same schedule as her two young daughters, when she runs into the man who gave her an unforgettable night and is her school’s new resource officer, Matt Turner.

Victoria and Matt were so good together! I love a protective hero, and Matt takes care of Victoria and her daughters as if they were his own and shuts down her infuriating ex husband so expertly. Matt figuring out the real story of what was going on with his father was such an exciting storyline and I really enjoyed watching him navigate how his family dynamics have impacted his outlook on romantic relationships!

It's been a while since I read a small-town ish found-family contemporary romance like this, and this book was a perfect re-entry into this genre! The narration flowed so easily, and I finished this book in probably 6 hours, along with all the other work I was doing.

💫 Single parent romance plus a small reverse age-gap
💫 Found family and small-town vibes, with a lot of support and team effort from the friend group ❤️
💫 The romance is pretty slow-burn on the trust and relationship side, coz both MCs have past trauma wrt relationships. I loved their emotional journeys and the eventual getting together!
💫 No third-act breakup (!!) This was super wholesome
💫 There was such a lovely hea, with hea's and/or redemptions for all the characters!

TWs - cheating (major TW, faced by an MC and a side character), emotional estrangement by parents, divorce, young children facing hardships due to divorce + custody issues

Wow what a stunning story!

Wow. Matt and Victoria both have issues. Matt from his parent, Victoria from both her parents and ex-husband. Matt has a commitment phobia and thinks he is not good enough. But begins to realize how much he has missed out on and dare say, is liking the commitment.
Victoria has been raised with expectations and is having a hard time trusting. Of course Matt makes mistakes and so does Victoria that they are constantly finding themselves at odds with each other.
The gang is all there (Nathan, Owen, Liam and Gabriel who are all threatening and giving advice to Matt) (Em, Monica, Olivia and Harper are giving advice to Victoria as well as threatening their husbands) and shenanigans ensue. It's fun to hear their points of view.

Victorias girls just steal your heart. I loved Matt's mom and the secrets Matt and his team have to dig through.

I recommend this book as there are laughs, angst, secrets, steam and love.

I got hooked on this story from the start. Victoria and her girls, I loved from the start.

Especially little Blaire. She was just too freaking adorable. I loved that even though Victoria's ex was such an ass, she got her act together and stood up to him.

Matt oh man he was another one that I fell inlove with. He was the newly appointed police liaison at Victoria's girls school. And little Blaire fell inlove with instantly... He and Victoria had a one nigh stand never expecting to see each other again, but fate stepped in😏

Loved the story, loved the main characters side character and the kids were adorable. I loved everything about the story. Just the ending was a bit rushed for me, but still loved it💖😊And my first time reading this author, yeah💗

This book had me at single mom. Victoria's daughters are precious. Little Blaire stole my heart right from the beginning. Victoria and Matt had a one night stand, but now they are back into each other's orbit working in the same school. Victoria's group of friends are friendship goals and makes me wish I could be part of the group. They are the definition f found family. It's not all sunshine and rainbows because real life is hitting these characters quite hard. I really loved where this book went. It definitely left me with a huge smile on my face. This book delivers on the feels, but also brings the heat and humor. The banter game in this one is on point. Victoria and Matt have burning hot chemistry that burns up the pages. This definitely a book you do not want to miss out on.

Victoria is a single mom of two girls, trying to get through life. She goes out for one night with a friend and is literally shoved into a guy named Matt. Victoria agrees to have one night with Matt, they don't tell each other about any personal information and next morning Victoria is gone. She thinks that's the last time she sees him but she's wrong...

Matt transferred jobs to become a school resource officer where he meets his one night only lady, Victoria. From there they fight chemistry and then the way Victoria's little girls fall in love with him, so cute.

This book was super cute. My favorite part was the found family. I'm so glad that Victoria had her found family to help. I love how supportive and helpful they were. This book kept me entertained and at times laughing. I rated this 4 stars due to the epilogue, I felt that it was off.

Ok so this book started out as a 4⭐️ read but then the more it went on the more things I disliked.
There was no consistency through it. I felt like I was getting whiplash!!
I really didn’t like how the blame was constantly being put on the MMC! I’ve seen it soo many times in books and I’m getting really tired of it.
I really didn’t like when the FmC said he used his friends death in the line of duty as an excuse. I think for me that was the final straw for her.
The kids were funny. I really liked the MMC. He grew and evolved really well throughout the book.
The ending was just too ridiculous and unrealistic for me. Her ex walking her down the aisle? And the two guys now basically being besties?? All within a year?? Yeah no! The guy literally kicked you and your kids onto the street??
Sorry I just felt like she was an idiot and I didn’t really care for or about her by the end.

Just got don't reading this surprising small town style romance and this was absolutely a four star for me.

I liked that even though this was a standalone, the characters from the previous books were still so much a part of it. Really brought everything full circle, and added so much to the story. I love the group text portions and the banter, it was so on point.

Overall the story was so cute and I really thought the relationship between Matt and Victoria was cute and well written. Matt could easily become one of my favorite book boyfriends.

The spice level in this one took me by surprise, in a good way. I was expecting a fade to black small town romance and this was definitely not that. It was great to see how well she worked it into the story. Loved IT!

Thank you Greys for allowing me to read this!

This was my first book for this series and thankfully you can read it as a standalone and not be confused on what's going on.

I really enjoyed this one and couldn't put it down!!

Only one part that bothers me especially as a parent.....when Matt said he had been eating lunch with the two daughters and he told them not to tell their mom......yes it might just be lunch but you never tell kids to keep stuff from their parents 🤷‍♀️. It's weird.

I am glad that Vic stood up for herself many times and wasn't the type of MC to let everyone walk all over her.

This is the fifth book in this series, and this is Matt and Victoria’s story. Victoria is a single mom to two adorable little girls, and after a messy divorce she is determined to move on with her life and has a one-night stand away from her hometown and does not expect to see the man again. Fate has other ideas, and Victoria finds out that Matt is the new security officer at the school she works at. This is a well written easy to read small town romance, with humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
