I felt so lucky to have received this book early in exchange for an honest review. As with any new series I approached Double Vision with cautious anticipation. Would I like these new characters and the new fictional world that I know nothing about? Then I dove in…and right away I found myself grinning and chuckling as the pages began. Right off the bat, the setting of Vista De Lirio and characters have you laughing and smiling ear to ear. The cast of characters is absolutely original within Ms. Hunter’s PWF worlds. I’ve heard it said that this book is full of kooky characters, and that is indeed the perfect description.
This is an old Hollywood meets modern eccentricity mystery with a zany cast, ghosts and a guard alpaca to back it up! It was light and so fricken FUN to read. There was just that tiny bit more sizzle in this book than in her previous PWF series and I really enjoyed that as well. I look forward to seeing what this crew gets up to next!

I've been a lover of Elizabeth Hunter for a long time. Her writing style, story development and characters really just go beyond entertainment for me. I become incredibly invested in each book of hers I read.

I turn 40 in week and I've lately found myself reaching for books with middle aged characters more and more. Give me some gray hair, stretch marks, fine lines and pending retirements and some years under their belts and I'm game. Though these characters are the shiny mid-life version I still fell for them all.

Anyhow I was immediately pulled into Double Vision within the first few pages. Julia is a fabulous character surrounded by other equally fabulous characters, Vivian and Evy rank right up there and while I'm getting ahead of myself, I cannot wait for their books.

So here we go we've got strong, intelligent women with new found... Power? Abilities? Call it what you want Julia takes being able to see ghost in stride and I love that. Actually there isn't a single person in the book that doesn't just shrug as if it's totally normal. The who-dun-it aspect is engaging and intriguing. And I admit I had a few suspects the entire time.

So we've got a cozy(ish) murder mystery, New abilities, a love interest and a phenomenonal cast of characters main and secondary. I'd totally read about Sergio and Dean.

IT'S LIVE

3 - 3.5 Stars

We meet the heroine of this book Julia Brooks who is 51 and a real estate agent she has recently had a cardiac arrest event. So she has moved closer to friends to adjust to her new normal.

Julia and I were not on the same wavelength here. I did not find her sympathetic at all. There were times I found her to be quite selfish with some of the things she said and did.

At 30 % I put it on hold (which in my world is close to a dnf) I checked other reviews and they were pretty high so I thought there was something wrong with me.

My thoughts shortly after is that I cannot do that to a Ms. Hunter book so I continued reading. Julia and I started to get along better but what really turned it round for me were the secondary characters, the story and Paco, the alpaca. I can't help it, it is how my brain works. Too much who dunnit.

It shall never be my favourite but I enjoyed it nevertheless. This is tough to rate and sorting my thoughts was hard. We have more woman’s paranormal fiction and to be honest I do not know how to feel about this. Ms. Hunter is crazy talented however here she wrote about things that I found it hard to relate to thus being rich and living a privileged life. There is a lot of thought put into plot, characters and writing so it shall always be a bonus and I love myself a good ghost/cozy mystery.

I also got to say is that I miss the good old days of Ms. Hunter’s writing. She is still excellent but her other series of vampires and shifters are the best. Change isn’t a bad thing and I shall continue this series as it is a good and solid start.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

Elizabeth Hunter can craft new characters and world like no other. Double Vision is the lovely start of a new Paranormal Women’s Fiction trilogy, and I loved every second of it.

I really enjoy the cast of characters and their relationships. There are plenty of ghosts, creepy teens, lovely friendships, mystery and drama.

I’ve been really enjoying Hunter’s PWF trilogies. Having main characters being more lived-in is quite enjoyable and much more relatable. Seeing such characters in a budding romance is quite amazing as well.

I cannot wait for more adventures with Julia, Vivian and Evy.
If you enjoy reading about mystery, romance and awesome friendships, this is definitely the book for you.

By the way, It was so great seeing a Brazilian character and his kids calling him “pai”, thank you so mush Elizabeth Hunter 🥰

Double Vision by Elizabeth Hunter is a fun and entertaining paranormal women's fiction book. I love the neighborhood of Vista de Lirio with it's quirky residents, ghosts and a rescue alpaca that added a little charm and laughter to the story. Julia Brooks may be reinventing her life after a cardiac event but after finding a murder victim in a house that she is representing, she has doubts about her new life. With new friends and all of them developing new paranormal abilities, a few twists, limited suspects and a touch of romance, this book kept my attention and I didn't put it down until I reached the end.

This paranormal murder mystery was light and easy to read, making me smile with its wacky characters that included a guard alpaca.

Strong, independent and successful realtor Julia Brooks, has recently moved to Palm Springs for health reasons. She’s soon immersed in a murder investigation where she finds herself with an advantage: she can see ghosts. Together with her new friends, they set out to figure out whodunit, but also find danger and a love interest for Julia.

Elizabeth Hunter is a new to me author and hopefully I’ll be in a better mindset with her next book. She’s a wonderful story teller and Double Vision certainly entertained while making me laugh. The reason for my rating was more a me problem, mainly because I was expecting more sexy romance than cozy mystery.

Double Vision is book 1 of the Vista de Lirio series by author Elizabeth Hunter. Genre: Women’s Lit | Paranormal

Awesome new PWF series by Elizabeth Hunter! This story has mystery, strong ladies, and romance. Julia moves to Palm Springs to start taking it easy after a cardiac event. Little does she know that event, with the help of a new friend's grandmother, has opened her up to see ghosts. We get an absolutely lovely look into the Vista de Lirio neighborhood along with its quirky cast of resident ghosts. Julia's eclectic group includes a ventriloquist, a dentist, the desert's wealthy, and an alpaca. Julia and her new friends start to dig into the murder of a young man and find themselves in some danger. While this is happening, Julia also connects with a silver fox director, and the two start up a little something-something. Wonderful writing, great world building, and fun dialogue. A great addition to the PWF genre! Super exciting that the other two books of the trilogy are scheduled to come out June and October 2022!

Ghosts, ghastly murder, and a touch of old-Hollywood glamour, oh my!

Double Vision is the first in Elizabeth Hunter’s newest series, where the neighborhood is a little quirky, the neighbors are even more so, and there’s at least one rescue alpaca roaming the lawn. Julia Brooks is trying to find her place in it all, but who could predict that her first day of Vista de Lirio realty work would include a dead body…and the murder victim’s especially persistent ghost?

I absolutely loved Double Vision. The descriptions of Vista de Lirio create a lush, colorful backdrop as Julia, and her new friends Evy and Vivian, work to solve an increasingly complicated mystery that kept me guessing until the end. The cast of characters are both endearing and, at times, delightfully odd; Elizabeth Hunter has worked her usual magic of making me want stories for every single background character that crosses the page. And while the story never gets too grim, there is definitely a touch of the old-school Hollywood film noir to the story that I deeply enjoyed.

I strongly recommend this for fans of the Glimmer Lake and Moonstone Cove series, and for anyone who has ever wondered what a dentist, a ventriloquist/pool-cleaner, and a semi-retired real estate agent have in common.

Grateful as always to have had a chance to read an early copy of this book.

3.5 stars - I liked it. Double Vision is Elizabeth Hunter's new Paranormal Woman's Fiction series starter - it's following the same format as her Glimmer Lake and Moonstone Cove series - 3 women suddenly get psychic powers, solve mysteries, become friends and find love. It's KU. There is a quirky supporting cast and I thought it was a nice light read.

The community of Vista de Lirio is a fun unique setting for Elizabeth Hunter’s newest series. I’m in love with these characters. Julia is moving to Vista De Lirio looking for a different pace. She meets Evy and Vivian and the three bond while trying to solve a murder when they all realize they have supernatural abilities. This Paranormal Women’s Fiction story has Hunter’s trademark style carefully blending murder, mystery and romance with charm and wit. I’m so glad this is a series and I get to visit these characters again soon! Did I mention I love these characters?? From the friendships to the quirky family, to the pet alpaca!!
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another amazing read from Elizabeth hunter! This is book one in the Vista de Lirio series. Vista de Lirio is a Palm Springs neighborhood that is full of interesting people and ghosts! Double Vision follows Julia after she has a cardiac event and is a bit traumatized, but doesn't want to admit it. She moves closer to her family for hopefully a slower pace of life and a change of scenery. She definitely gets the change of scenery! There is mystery, new friends, new love, and an awesome story that illustrates everybody's hea looks different, but is no less awesome. As always, the writing is wonderful and sucks you in from the get go. I always look forward to EH's books and I can't wait for more! I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.

where to start? Double Vision is part of the PWF world. the first few from Miss Hunter set in this world were all well written but somehow i had a harder time being pulled into the stories; just being honest here.
however with Double Vision it was bingo. i was drawn into the story, loved the characters, the mystery, the humor, the smexy build up, .... in my opinion it felt that DV had more of the Miss Hunter i'm used to reading, i may be wrong here but it's my personal view.
i adored the interactions with our dear departed ones, with some i really wanted to know more (secretly hoping we may visit/see a few again in books 2 and 3! ).
a well written mystery story with a twist *aplauds Elizabeth Hunter* you did it again.

Elizabeth Hunter's Glimmer Lake series had a baby with "Old Hollywood" and gave birth to her latest release. Throw in a little boho hippy vibe and you get "Double Vision."
"Double Vision" is the introduction of three perfectly normal middle-aged women who are all at a crossroads in their life. You have Vivian, a dentist; Evy, a ventriloquist/pool cleaner and Julia, a realtor, who after a cardiac "event" has taken up residence in the pool house of her ex-husband, Dean, and his husband, Sergio, their two daughters and an alpaca with an attitude.
After Julia walks in on a dead body in a house she's trying to sell and a very chaotic meeting with a very strange aunt, she and the other two women find themselves with newfound abilities. Julia is suddenly the constant companion of Justin, the very dead pretty boy that she found in the kitchen. He had been the private chef of an aging daytime drama star and not really on law enforcements radar for solving the case of his murder. The soap star and the pretty boy's relationship and the plot point of this book is almost secondary because as is always true with any Elizabeth Hunter story, the locale of Vista de Lirio becomes a secondary character of perfection along with the myriad of all the others. Dead and un-dead.
After the weirdness of the last couple of years I have enjoyed so much the little gifts of simple entertainment. "Double Vision" is just that. Throw in some laughs and a little steam in the romance department and you have "Double Vision."
Thank you, Ms. Hunter for the opportunity to read an early copy of this entertaining nugget of joy.

Elizabeth Hunter once again delivers pure PWF GOLD with Double Vision! I couldn't wait to grab my early reader version and devour it when I found it on my e-reader.

Julia Brooks, the FMC, is starting over again after a cardiac "event" causes her to reevaluate her work/life balance. Julia moves into the pool house of her ex-husband's ultra-rich, ulta intriguing husband's huge home. You would think this might be a bit awkward, but ex-husband Dean and his spouse Sergio truly adore Julia, and she equally loves them, along with their two daughters.

The mystery in Double Vision kicks off with a pool party for the most interesting people of Vista de Lirio- all of whom were hand picked by Sergio- and one boa-wearing llama. Here Julia meets her new friends.

The friendships between the characters is so genuine and easy- I'm always jealous that Ms. Hunter's characters aren't my real friends! Ms. Hunter does a great job of building believable, healthy friendships, and that alone makes this book a must-read. Throw in a whodunnit murder mystery, some psychic powers, and a mature love interest, and you've got a perfectly fun, easy read. While the love interest is present in the book, it doesn't overpower the friendships or become the FMC's sole focus, which I enjoyed.

Double Vision is a must-read for people who enjoy female lead characters who are later in life but still rocking it, warm friendships, and a bit of mystery.

Honestly, this was my least favorite of Hunter’s books. It was painfully similar to another set of stories she wrote about three friends gaining magical powers. That made it feel formulaic. However, it was still a good story with a solid mystery to solve. I liked the back stories of the three friends. They are a unique set of independent mature women who seem very secure in themselves and what they want. I loved that!

Another amazing story from Elizabeth Hunter.
I love the characters being older and the way she fits all the pieces together really keeps you guessing on what’s going to happen next. I think I need an alpaca now paco was definitely a favourite.
I’m really excited to read the next book with these characters.

I love the paranormal genre and I love mysteries. Getting both in one book was a wonderful treat. I have always enjoyed Ms. Hunter's stories and I knew that I would enjoy this one as well. I was not disappointed. The mystery is... well mysterious. The characters are fun. At first, I wasn't sure about the setting. Desert town? Been there, done that. Now, I want to go back and meet all those people that I apparently missed. ;-) I finished the book in one sitting and now I'm ready for #2. Thank you, Ms. Hunter, for the great entertainment!

Highly enjoyable paranormal women’s fiction. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Glimmer Lake and Moonstone Cove maybe but I can’t pinpoint why. That said, I still highly recommend it if you enjoyed those other two series. I loved the subtle humor in this book and chuckled out loud on more than one occasion. Looking forward to book two. Nicely narrated on audio.

I really really enjoyed this paranormal murder mystery! It’s full of suspense, laughter, intrigue, and friendship, with a hint of romance and spice.

I had an inkling about things, but honestly I wasn’t completely sure. It was such a fun mystery! Everything they go through and how the friendships form and what they end up doing! I loved it!

I liked Julia a lot. She was a strong character, who knows who she is and has such a great support system.

I’m very excited for the next books coming out!

This was such a great start to Elizabeth Hunter’s new PWF series! I love her other two series in this genre and so couldn’t wait to see what this one was about!! It is a perfect example of how she creates characters that we fall in love with and that are so relatable to!
This book is full of fun amazing characters ,both living and not living, that you just can’t help but love. Sergio is absolutely hilarious!! Julia is so strong and so amazing that you just want to be friends!! Then there’s Evy and Vivian who are amazing!! The three together are a force to be reckoned with. You would never know they just met. They are the kind of friends we all want, that are always there and have your back!!
Throw in a sexy Michael and all that heat, along with an awesome ex husband and a few interesting ghosts and you have the beginning of a great new series!!

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Double Vision. This book has been a fun adventure. Who would of thought of having famous ghosts, a llama who is like a gaurd dog, and a dummy would be such a fantastical adventure. The quirkiness of the characters fully make the book. this is a must read.

Double Vision, the first book in Elizabeth Hunter’s Vista de Lirio series, sounded like the perfect read for me. I love a good mystery and I love paranormal twists, and I especially love when the two are combined. While I did enjoy this one, I did not fall quite as deeply for it as I had hoped.

Double Vision was an interesting read, one that kept me turning the pages, yet it never surprised me. I worked out the mystery with ease and there were no points where that element shocked me. It was a little too easy and cosy in that sense, which wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I can certainly see many enjoying this aspect of the story, but it’s not for those looking for something more complex. While I did find this one to be a bit too easy when it came to the mystery, the paranormal element was enjoyable. It certainly has me curious to see how the other characters deal with their abilities – I just hope the future mysteries are a little more complex.

All in all, this was an enjoyable quick read. It was not the most complex of stories, but it did make for easy reading.

I'm fairly new to Elizabeth Hunter and I'll admit that I usually shy away from anything that says "paranormal". However, I'm turning into a huge fan. Her books that I've read/listened to so far have both been about normal people who have happen to develop some psychic gifts. Julia, the main character, can communicate with ghosts, one woman perceives other people's thoughts and one is wide open to everyone else's feelings. Julia's friends are a dentist and a ventriloquist. Fun group.

The story is a mystery with these three women trying to solve the murder of someone that had been at a party with the main character. The ghost is that of the young man who was dating an older woman. He's outspoken and apparently "stuck to" Julia. There are also other ghosts associated to the property where the murder occurred. They are interesting in their own right and one of them also was an unsolved murder. There's a lot of laughable moments in the book, some danger and even a little romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next.

I listened to the audio version narrated extremely well by Ava Lucas. Thanks to Recurve Press, LLC and Valentine PR for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

Double Vision is the first book in the Vista de Lirio series and my first Elizabeth Hunter novel. I enjoyed everything about this story. From the murder mystery plot to the quirky eccentric characters, this novel grabbed my interest from the start and did not let go. This is a paranormal woman's fiction which I have not read too many off but that will now change with how entertained I was with this story.
I loved that the characters were more middle aged although there were a couple younger ones. I loved how comical it was inspite of there being a murder to solve and I loved the bit of romance included in the story.
Julia was a fantastic characters and I loved that she was surrounded by a cast of endearing characters most especially two equally story women. I really loved the friendship she made with both Evy and Vivian as these three bonded over the magical powers they suddenly inherited.
This novel was filled with suspense, laughter, friendship, intrigue, great world-building and a hint of romance. It was such a fun read and I absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend this novel to lovers of paranormal women's fiction.

I'm so happy that Elizabeth Hunter has decided to write another PWF series. The Glimmer Lake and Moonstone Cove series were two of my favorites last year. After reading Double Vision, I'd say Vista de Lirio will be going on my favorites list this year!

The setting is Palm Springs, where Julia, a 51 YO successful real estate agent in LA, temporarily moves into the pool house of her business partner/ex-spouse, his current partner and their twin teenage daughters after she suffers a "cardiac event" and is advised to de-stress her life. However, when she walks into the kitchen of her first listing, she discovers not only a dead body whom she recognizes as Justin, the boy toy lover of an aging former actress who owns the house, but also that she can now see and talk to his ghost. This probably wasn't what her doctor meant when it was suggested she take a break and simplify her life.

Later, a failed attempt by a psychic to get rid of the ghost and her newfound powers ends up backfiring and unlocking latent powers in two other women who happen to be present at the attempt. Now all three women are dealing with paranormal powers, bonding as new friends, and trying to solve the mystery of who killed Justin.

Double Vision has a touch of old Hollywood glamour, a touch of the hippy dippy SoCal psychic scene, gorgeous descriptions, found family and friendships, smart, engaging, mature, lead and supporting characters, and is just all around fun to read. There was some mystery, some romance (in the form of a director friend of Julia's ex, who suffered a life threatening accident of his own and is also reassessing his life), and a wonderfully refreshing and accepting attitude of all of the characters toward the paranormal, in which it's just another element of their somewhat charmed lives. The next book will be out in a few months, focusing on one of Julia's new friends with newly acquired powers, and I can't wait to continue the Vista di Lirio adventure. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

4.5 stars! This book is quite a ride! An absolutely quirky, fun, an eccentric collection of characters at ever level. From the FMC, Julia, who is arguably the most normal of the bunch, as a 51 year old real estate agent, who is best friends and business partners with her ex, Dean, who is currently married to Sergio, the town social butterfly, essentially. Dean and Sergio have two marginally frightening fifteen year old twin daughters, who have a temperamental pet alpaca named Paco. Then we get two new friends for Julia, Evy and Vivian, who are all thrown into the world of psychic phenomena head first, and each in their own ways. Not to mention the sweet, sexy, dirty talking silver fox love interest in Michael.

A murder mystery drives the plot of the book, but it’s really the characters that bring it to life. From the Sunday dinner at Sergio and Dean’s that starts the whole story, that’s anything but a normal Sunday dinner and provides an excellent opportunity to introduce all the side characters and sub plots that will become part of the story. There’s so much happening, but it doesn’t seem overwhelming, the pacing of the story is so well done. And between moody ghosts, telepathy, empathy, Julia, Evy, and Vivian have their hands full and a murder to solve.

No details on the story beyond that, because there are so many nuances that make it great, and I wouldn’t want to spoil anything. But if you enjoy fun, quirky, paranormal mystery, with a more mature cast of players, and a little bit of spice, you’ll love this book!

Thank you to Elizabeth Hunter and Valentine PR for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have been a long time fan of Elizabeth Hunter's work and at this point have read a few different genres that she's written and I can say with 100% honesty that she can write ANYTHING! I loved this book, it was so fun and has some of the quirkiest characters I've had the pleasure of meeting.

Julia, our main character has just moved into the guest house of her best friend, who happens to be her ex husband and his family in hopes of living a more relaxing life. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned and she ends up finding the body of an attractive man in a house she's listed. Now it's up to Julia and her new girlfriends to solve the mystery of who murdered the young lover of an ex soap opera star!

I want to be a part of Sergio's Angels and have Palomas with my psychic friends, where can I sign up for that?! Vivian and Evy are the perfect counterparts to Julia's personality and the craziness that they get into while trying to solve the murder is both exciting and hilarious. I loved how while there was a little romance in this book it was not anywhere near the main storyline. This story followed, Julia, Evy, and Vivian most of all and I'm so excited that this is just the beginning of this new series.

If you like cozy mysteries with a touch of the paranormal and loveable characters, this is the story to check out! The ladies of Vista di Lirio are on the case and ready to dive into the next mystery that awaits them!

Oh, what a fun read! I blazed through Double Vision (and thanks for the Foreigner earworm Elizabeth) in one sitting. It was a fun romp from the very first Sunday Dinner with Dean and Sergio (who is absolutely adorable), some unexpected guests, and a guard alpaca named Paco. Three new friends bound together although they are all quite different. Double Vision, the first in a trilogy like Moonstone Cove and Glimmer Lake, is just as delightful as both of those trilogies and is woman power all the way!

Double Vision is women's fiction filled with suspense, humor, romance, and, like I said, woman power. Julia is 51, recently recovered from a health scare, and slowed her pace by moving to Vista De Lirio. Ummm, surprise? What she gets is not what she was expecting, and it becomes an adventure with two new best friends and a boyfriend. I really liked Julia; I would like to be her when I grow up. She's so self-aware and not willing to compromise on her desires. This community of people is fun and slightly crazy, and I can only imagine the fun that the following two books will bring! 15/10 Highly Recommend!!
