This was different from my usual reads. I've never read a fae book where they are flowers. I was a bit confused the first few chapters because we were going back and forth in time and there was no warning. I wish we had gotten a little more of Mari and Rhy together and falling in love.
This book was okay, a little bit Romeo and Juliet but with dragons and fae.
My biggest gripe about this book is that although I loved the world and story, all of the hard stuff seemed to happen off page. The main characters would hit a wall and then it would be solved so fast, or time would skip and we only felt the tension for a couple pages when the characters had been experiencing it for a few days.
All in all I would for sure read another book in this series or by this author. I liked the setting and writing style, I just wish there was more struggle for the characters that we actually read.
I sort of have mixed feelings about this story of Rhyol and Mari’s story. I do adore love read paranormal /sci-fi romance.
Rhyol’s Dragon went into shifter mode and would not turn back. For years after Mari left her kingdom he was there to protect her in his Dragon form and no matter what she said to him, he would not change back. After waiting what seemed forever, she decided to go back to her kingdom rather than live the life she had come to know without him.
Rhyol’s Dragon would not release him and when she left him he had to take drastic action to win her back. A love story about overcoming fear, getting to know and understand each other as friends to lovers, accepting that it was okay to be different and together! Overall a beautiful read with a HEA!
The Dragon’s Forbidden Sacrifice is another enticing story in a world of mythological beings living beyond the veil as crafted by an author whose work I have enjoyed. This sixth book features Dragon shifter Rhyol and “don’t call her princess” Fairy Marigold who are the leads in an enchanting story of love and misfortune that is highlighted by frequent dabs of humor, issues of trust and supported by engaging writing within an excellently crafted world. There will be heart tugging interludes as these two very likable characters battle against the odds to achieve their happily ever after which had this reader totally immersed in their adventure, and eagerly looking forward to their success!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A different take on most Dragon shifter stories I’ve read but I have to say very enjoyable. Mari and Rhyol had become friends years ago and when it turned to love they were split apart. Dragon and Fae were not allowed to be together.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Since I started with the saga I have been waiting for this book to know the history of Rhyol and Marigold. I needed to know how Rhyol's dragon took control and stayed that way for a long time.
I liked that the story began to narrate between past and present, increased my curiosity and prevented me from stopping reading.
Marigold is a fae princess and her parents are determined to marry her to someone of the same status as her, but Mari is not willing to comply, so she runs away from home. When Rhyol meets her, he was walking away from the castle, trying to avoid listening to his father. Marigold wasn't a delicate princess who needed tending, but Rhyol was willing to protect her from anyone, including her parents. They both enjoyed each other's company, but Mari didn't fully appreciate Rhyol's dragon.
Everything is ruined when Rhyol turns into a dragon for a reason I won't say and gets trapped. Not even his brothers managed to help him become the man again. I admit that I got angry with Kimber in certain places, but then I understood that he was only looking to protect his family
The way Rhyol never gave up on Marigold and always sought her safety and stay by her side, I loved it. He was so determined to be with her no matter what others said and she wasn't interested in her family's opinion or that their relationship was frowned upon. They both loved each other and were willing to fight for their love.
Although not everything could be so simple. A dragon needs a human mate to control itself and Marigold wasn't. However, both the dragon and Rhyol loved her and that was definitely the best. Although I was distressed to read Mary rejecting the dragon, I wanted so much to shake her so that she would understand that Rhyol and the dragon were one.
Anyway, their relationship could be considered forbidden, but that mattered very little to them. I enjoyed every moment of Rhyol and Marigold together, when they met and when they got back together. They were a different couple from the rest, because she was a fae and he was a dragon, their dynamic was so fun, tender and at times very exciting. I would have liked to know more about them at the end, but I hope to know in the next saga.
"She makes my heart do funny things." Rhyol scratched at his chest. "When I see her, it skips beats. When I'm near her, it shudders like it’s going to come to a full stop. Then it starts beating again, faster than before."
I didn’t get a chance to read the first couple of books in this series, but thankfully, you don’t need to read them in order for this book. Each book is about one of the dragon brothers. This book is on Rhyol, who is best friends with Princess Marigold. Since they were children, they have been friends after a chance meeting in the grove. They are two different species so they can’t ever be together, and Rhyol is supposed to get a sacrifice from the veil to tame his dragon. But he is in love with Mari, and when she tries to run away with him to his castle and her parents come with an army to bring her back, his dragon comes out to play to protect her. And the dragon won’t let go of Rhyol so he can be a man again. Years later, still a dragon, Rhyol still monitors Mari who is now working at a bar to stay away from her parents. She is told that her father is dying and to come back so she does. Rhyol, at his wits end, decides to cross the veil and it weakens his dragon enough for him to take back control. So, he now can go get the woman he loves. But can he find the right mix of man and dragon without letting one or the other take over permanently?
I was really disappointed in this recent installment of the series. I have read all the others but this was my least favorite. I was confused for about 60% of the book. Why did Mari feel she gave up so much for Rhoyl? Also how could she love the man but not his beast? What was the point of Rhoyl going through the veil? What was with Mari’s father…why would her mother not allow her to see him when she came home? What was her mother such a jerk after Rhoyl saved her? I should not have this many quarts ions at the end of the book. Then I was hopeful that the epilogue would tie up loose ends….nope…the epilogue wasn’t even about Rhoyl and Mari, it was about the lion cubs!!!! I waited months and months for this installment and purchased it the day it came out. I’m bummed out, because this should have been a free kindle unlimited book, not an out right dollar purchase.
This was a really odd read. I have mixed feelings about it. The writing is OK with nice world-building. Though I kinda felt lost most of this book. I found myself wondering if it's because I have not read the whole series. I'm not quite sure! Either way, The Dragon’s Forbidden Sacrifice just wasn't a good fit for me.
I enjoyed the relationship between Rhyol and Mari. They fell in love despite the opposition from both sides of the families.
There wasn't any delineation between the past and the present. I do get confused about the time jumps. I hate time flashbacks or jumping forward. It's so confusing trying to follow along. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
Thank you, NetGalley, for an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved the relationship between Rhyol and Mari. They fell in love despite the opposition from both families. However, I did get confused with the time jumps. There wasn't any delineation between the past and the present and it took a bit to catch up to that. I also think the story could have had more tie in to the rest of the series earlier on. The author just jumped into Ryhol and Mari's relationship without any world building/tying into the world she had already built. I was lost most of the book and I've read the series. In my opinion, this was just not up to the author's regular quality. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc.
This book is much different than i normally read. Not only in content, but in length. I suppose jumping into a series in the 6th book was a silly decision. However, I don’t think that I needed the others in order to understand the world that the author had created. This was the first time I read a book where the fae are actual flowers which was pretty interesting.
I enjoyed the story, but I will always wish for books to be longer. So much of this story felt rushed and incomplete for me as a reader. I do look forward to reading the other books in the series though!
I gave this a 4 because of the last books not matching the previous ones for example in one of the prevous I think Beryl it was his father who tore open the mother and Beryl and rhy had their arms around little Ilal in this one the mother birthed him then the father tried to mate with her right away. There were a few other inconsistencies but I have to say I really liked the ending but why hasn't chrsies baby dragons been born yet no update to the other dragon ladies either. Is this last one Mari going to be able to have babies I don't know wish she would do another book updating us all.
The Last Dragons book 6. Rhyol and Marigold. His Dragon held him in beast form for the longest time. Mari didn't love the Dragon just his human part. So herein lies the problem. She gotta accept all of him in order for him to survive and mate her. They love each other but it's an uphill battle. This book was angsty, heart breaking at times, dramatic and passionate.
This was very interesting, definitely written outside the typical fae world. I’m not sure how I feel about this one, the flowers and how they look like flowers on top of it and then having relations with others just does not process. All in all it was a good read if not a little to far fetched even for a a paranormal/fantasy read.
Really enjoyed the cast of charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable passion. Highly entertaining, sweetly emotional and engaging journey..... was a great read from beginning to end.
Maybe it was because I started on the last book of the series that I didn’t understand what the heck was going on but personally, this one wasn’t for me.
I didn’t really get the time jumps in the beginning and I felt soo lost so I would for sure recommend reading the entirety of the series as you will probably understand it better than I did!

The fairies in this world was very different from what I was used to. It was fun with a little new thinking. I had a little bit of a hard time following the timeline right at the beginning, but that cleared up pretty quick.
It’s about a dragon shifter and a fairy, and a kind of forbidden love. It was a good read and a new spin to what I’m just to mythology wise, but it might’ve been better to read the other books in the world to understand everything faster.
I wasn’t too invested in the love story or the characters, I felt that I didn’t have the time or depth to really know them. Otherwise it was a fun read.
