This installment was.... interesting. A combination of not at all what i expected and EXACTLY what i expected.

My biggest problem with this book was that the author took an overused trope and didnt change it at all. Tell me; Have you read this book before?
- Heroine escapes an abusive relationship and hides away as a stripper
- Hero goes out to find her, only to realize that they're mates/in love
- "I'll protect you always and you'll never suffer again" - our hero talking to the heroine
- Abusive ex gets mad when he finds out
- Heroine goes off by herself and instantly gets attacked by abusive ex
- Hero saves her.
The end.

Have you read this book 1000 times? 2000 times? I know I have and I'm SICK OF IT. You can dress up this trope with as much vampire/amish/fated mates as much as you want, but at the end of the day its all the same bull shit. Why have the heroine become a stripper and include in her inner dialogue that she loves dancing.... only to have it never mentioned again for the rest of the book?! Oh right, because being a stripper is for whores only and our heroine cant be a whore. She has to go back to amish land to be a submissive wife. Which is really my main problem with the series.

While I love a fated mate story, with some really good smut thrown in, this book did not meet my expectations. It felt rushed and lazy. There was also TWO other story lines going on at the same time as our MC's which took away from their romance.

All in all, I probably wont continue with this series. The next hero is a slut.

Safety:
- Heroine is previously married to a very abusive man that beats and rapes her.
- Hero is a virgin
- No seperation, no cheating, no OW drama, slight OM drama in the form of the abusive ex
- Physical violence
- Misogyny. The characters are Amish after all
- fated mates, possessive and obsessive love. CAVEAT: the hero and heroine have known each other for decades but they didnt know they were fated mates until after the heroine is married.

After enjoying Original Sin, the first book in The Order of Vampires series, I was eager to see what Lydia Michaels did with the second book. Thus, I happily jumped into Dark Exodus and devoured it in no time. In fact, I could not put it down.

I’ll be honest and say that I was slightly tentative about certain elements of this story. Namely, I was concerned about the fact that multiple characters had their romance told in this one. I feared it would feel rushed or too easy, but I was wrong. I was hooked on the way all the elements came together, and I have plenty of theories about how things will continue to interact. With a great romance, intriguing new details added to the world, and plenty of moments that sucked me in deep, I could not get enough of this one. Upon finishing, I’ve been left desperate for the next book in the series.

All in all, this is well worth the read for those who enjoyed the first book. I cannot wait to see what book three brings.

Lydia Michaels has done it again! Dark Exodus is a riveting tale of edge-of-your-seat suspense and love at its deepest, truest form. A story that takes you on a wild ride, while the whole time making you wish it will never end. It runs the gamut of human emotions with a supernatural twist that is absolutly unparalleled. True paranormal romance perfection!

When I read Original Sin, the first in the 'The Order of Vampires' series, I literally had to stop mid-way through and get some air - it was that spicy. As a host of a romance and erotica lit podcast, it took top place among books that left me flushed and breathless. That's why I was DELIGHTED when I was offered an opportunity to sign up for an ARC of book #2 in the series. I had expected the book to be good, Lydia Michael's writing and character development is very strong, but there was no way it could be as spicy and delicious as Original Sin. No way. It wasn't possible.

HOW I COULD HAVE DOUBTED LYDIA FOR ONE SECOND. THE AUDACITY. THE ABSOLUTE GALL.

Dark Exodus was not only as daring as Original Sin, it was, dare I say, SPICIER than Original Sin. Adam and Annalise were adorable compared to Larissa and Bishop King. GOOOOOODDAMN. Talk about power couple.

Not only was this book spicy AF, the story was OUTSTANDING. This book had it all: Sex. Blood. Women finding their power. Revenge....Sweet, sweet revenge.

The JUSTICE this story dishes out elevates the entire series to an 11/10.

Although long, Dark Exodus, not unlike Original Sin, is something you can, and probably will, devour in a sitting - minus fresh air breaks to cool your vapors.

I am so honoured that I got to read this book and also privileged that I get to write a review. No one in my life is getting any other gifts this year BUT The Order of Vampires books.

Please don't make us wait too long for book #3!

There’s a lot going on in this story and you need to read book one first but that being said I loved the vampire aspect of this series and how there interaction is. All Larissa really wants is her freedom or even just a sliver where she can get but her naive nature isn’t really helping. Loving all the characters in this

Where do you even start? Vampires. Super sexy ones. Multiple couples and stories intertwined with each other. Fated mated and heart ache. Abuse and second chances. This book will take you on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster!

Just when I thought nothing to top Original Sin, I'm proven wrong. And you must read book 1 first

There were so many different things happening in this one, but was very easy to keep up.

Several things came to light that I would have never guessed when I first started reading but in the end everything made complete sense.

This is an edge of your seat, action packed story that will have your heart racing the entire time

This was a phenomenal, thrilling, action-packed read. We return back to the world of the Amish Vampires. At the end of Original Sin Larissa ran from her abusive, immortal vampire husband Silas. Now, the head of The Order, the oldest, most powerful vampire is tasked with finding her.

Lucinda Gainey’s narration brought this story to life and I was captivated from the first page. Being brought back to this unique world in the form of this audiobook was just what I needed. The book was intense, raw, emotional, dramatic, and had so much suspense. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Wow, this was a brilliant follow up to her first book in this series, Original Sin, which must be read first as it's a continuation of this story.... absolutely loving this series as it's such a different PNR vampire read - the vampire community is Amish and live in their own community, caring for themselves and keeping away from humans, they believe that if they get the call to find their true mate, then this is a mission from God.

Larissa has left the Amish community and run away, her husband (not her true mate) is an abusive a-hole, a real nasty piece of work. He demands her return, his wife, his property..... the elder and most powerful in the community, Bishop King, sets out to find her, but he has a mission of his own, as he has received the call to find his true mate, and Larissa is it!

Larissa is enjoying her life in the human world but is very naive about things really, especially as she has ended up as a stripper. When Bishop King arrives she is adamant that she is not returning to their community, he even tries to compel her, but she has an ability of her own and turns it back on him sending him flying, without realising just how she has managed it. This really tickled me, she manages it a few times, and Bishop is quite a stuck up no nonsense type, so seeing him flat out on his back in a rubbish heap was quite funny!

The other part of this story line focuses on Jonas and Abeline, who are not true mates, but have been married for many years and have grown up children of their own. Their love is true and very strong, but this is shattered when Jonas receives his calling to find his true mate. He tries everything within his power to resist, but in doing so starts to turn feral and dangerous. Abeline loves him and does not want him to suffer and forces him out to find his true mate, even though this tears her apart. This part of the story was really quite heartbreaking and emotional, both from Jonas and Abeline's POV but also from his true mate Clara.

There's lots going on in this with a serial murderer on the loose preying on human women, being drained of blood - feral vampires are on the hunt! That along with catching up with Cain and Adam (Original Sin) and their connection with Annalise, who is now pregnant with Adam's child, but who is also connected to Cain, so much so that she starts to suffer from wounds that are being inflicted upon him as he tries to hunt down the feral vampires.

Whoa!!!! So much going on in this, it had me on the edge of my seat most of the time, wrapped up in the storyline. Loved it and couldn't put it down and can't wait to read more in this series!!! Highly recommended for any PNR fans.

After reading Original Sin (which I absolutely LOVED), I had huge expectations for Dark Exodus, and Lydia Michaels did NOT disappoint. Who knew Amish Vampires were so damn sexy!!

You meet Larissa and the Bishop in the first book and I was so excited when I found out this would be their story.

There is so much happening in this book. Not only do you get to read about Larissa and The Bishop's journey together, but you meet so many new characters, which I hope means there will be more books to come (fingers crossed).

This was such an emotional ride. One moment you're feeling the love and in the next, your heart is breaking (many, many times). Then you're getting angry, but also have moments that make you giggle, and there is so much suspense, it's heart-pounding! Talk about an adrenaline rush!
At times, it's like watching a scary movie, and when that moment comes that you know something bad is going to happen and you just want to close your eyes so you don't see it, but you can't because you have to keep reading!!

All I can say is that if you haven't started this series yet, you don't know what you're missing. For fans of PNR, it's an absolute must!

After reading Original Sin (bk 1), I was waiting excitedly for Dark Exodus.
But thinking there is no way Ms. Michaels can top bk 1.
Holy Batman was I so wrong and eating crow.
She freaking outdone bk 1!
The plot has become more intense.
There is more depth and growth in the characters.
And the surprises, the twists and the turns are stunning and jaw dropping.
I am absolutely enthralled and loving this series for it’s originality and it’s unpredictability.
Seeing Larissa grow and become more confident, learning to rediscover herself made me so happy.
Oh my goodness Bishop King surprised the hell out of me, kind of left me speechless.
And all the other mischief and mayhem going on had me on the edge of my seat and my heart racing.
The plot and storyline is getting more exciting and nail biting.
So much action and drama had me not able to put my kindle down.
When I reached the very last sentence and moment in the book, I was like nooooo 😭
I need Prodigal Son now!
So needless to say I am once again waiting excitedly for the next book.

Dark Exodus by Lydia Michaels is book Two in the The Order of Vampires Series. This is the story of Larissa Hostetler and Bishop King 'Eleazar'. I do recommend that you read the last book "Original Sin' because Larissa is Adam's sister from that book which started her story. Larissa was in an arranged marriage with Silus an older abusive man. Now she is on the run from him. Eleazar wants to find Larissa to keep her safe and because he wants her too. This was a page turning read for me. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Dark Exodus continues straightforward into more depth about all the characters and how they all become more interwoven throughout their journeys of discovery.

This book for me focuses more on the women and their struggles.

I have enjoyed reading how each character has developed and gain strength.
I love reading how Larrass is slowly overcoming her troubled marriage and finding her innerstrengh.

Annalise continues to be interwoven between both Cain and Adam and how that has so far been told.
I am awaiting to see how Cain can hopefully find his happy ending.

Amish vampires in love

They are Amish lifestyle beings, but they have the immortality of vampires. If they never find their bonded mate after their calling, they become mindless blood sucking 🧛🏾‍♀️ monsters =feeish.

Suspense mystery: finding what rogue monster is harming/murking women with vampires bite marks. Is it a feeish they know?

Romance tropes:
😍who hurt you,
😍hurt/comfort,
😍run/chase,
😍protector MMC.

FMC left an abusive hubby to live amongst the English. The MMC is an ancient Vamp tracking her to return her to the ways, but surprise, she's his mate. He's older than dirt coming over with Mayflower and dem. She's fairly young living around 50 yrs. Patriarchy of their rules make it difficult for abused spouses to seek help. Lucky for her, she ended up mated to a powerful growly stuck in a mud NO ONE TOUCHES MY MATE dude.

It was a good storyline but expect Amish mindset with their processes and views on modesty to be present. I loved it! It was a nice change up from most smut books. The smex scenes were nicely done for the characters. Especially our mains. My major disappointment was how the FMC'S father storyline resolved. I was pumped to see how that messy angst would evolve. All in all I'm intrigued by this worldview

Dark Exodus is even better than the first one! I want more! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic's Read

Larissa Hostetler has left home and hiding from her Immortal Husband who is not worth his own breath. Bishop King, the most powerful and eldest immortal in The Order, has gotten his calling to his one true mate. This story is about the entire Hostetler family not just these two individuals. Dark Exodus is the second book in The Order of Vampires Series. You do need to read Original Sin first!

I don’t usually do this but I was just too busy when I read this book for the first time and I felt that I had rushed through it. I didn’t think I would do this book justice until I went back and reread it. There are a few stories being told throughout Dark Exodus and I couldn’t keep up with all that was happening to each of the couples. I am so happy that I read this book again. I fell in love with the story!

This series is set in Amish country. This is a Patriarchal Society. I have read nothing like this setting. On top of that this is a supernatural fantasy. The characters are immortals and vampires.

This is Larissa Hartzler Hostetler and Bishop Eleazar King’s story. Larissa ran away from her arranged marriage. Eleazar, the head of the order, finds Larissa before her abusive husband, Silus Hostetler does. It turns out that Eleazar is Larissa’s mate. Eleazar will not tolerate Larissa being abused. I am sure you can imagine that something will happen to Silus.

After I was able to sit down and really read this book I thoroughly enjoyed it! There are some funny scenes even though I wouldn’t classify this book as a rom com.

Get ready for a cliffhanger again! I can see many books coming from this series! I can't wait for the next book the Prodigal Son!

Dark Exodus was an incredible, thrilling, and pulse-pounding read. It was much more action packed than Original Sin. In it, the author brings us back into the unique world of the Amish Vampires.
At the end of Original Sin, Larissa ran from her abusive, immortal, vampire husband, Silas. As this book begins, Bishop King, head of The Order, has taken on the task of finding her. He is the oldest and most powerful immortal in The Order. He has his own reasons for finding her apart from protecting her from Silas, who is already planning her punishment when she’s found. So much goes on within the pages of this book. Aside from Larissa’s story, there is a monster killing women in the forests but Kane struggles to get The Order to believe him regarding who he feels is responsible. The final plot consists of secrets being kept in the home of Larissa, Adam and Kane's parents. Who will survive when all three stories reach their climaxes?
This story kept me fully engaged from start to finish. My pulse raced and my adrenaline pumped as I hung off the edge of my seat. I listened to this audiobook and Lucinda Gainey did a truly phenomenal job. During one scene, where she voiced the monster in the woods, she freaked me out with how scary she sounded. I loved hearing her voice all the different characters. I am so excited for the next book in this series! I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

I'm not sure who I want to "enlighten" first
Don't you people (some people, some immortal, whatever) ever think before you act??

This is book two in the series.
It reads a bit like a running tv show with multiple storylines occurring simultaneously while each episode highlights a specific couples journey
It is not a standalone

It took me a bit to get engaged (a touch of catching up)
but once I did...
I read straight through to the end and No I did not peek
(yes I am proud of myself)

Packed with action and suspense as well as some twists that left me needing answers now! (this is where the peeking problem surfaced)
but knowing if I jumped ahead I would miss something of importance and have to backtrack later

The back and forth between Bishop and Larissa had me in stitches
I was a bit concerned after everything she had already been through
But dang if she didn't find her backbone among the English and give Bishop a chase to be logged in the history books
Definitely some great chemistry between these two

A certain horses backside gets his comeuppance
A smexy twin meets his match and possibly his mate
Bishop finds his marshmallow center (swoon)
And so much more
This ends on a teaser for the next book in the series though Bishop and Larissa do have their HFN

Ah, my lovely Amish Vampyres are back again!

I absolutely fell in love with the unique story of a community of peace loving, simple living vampyres. Don't get the wrong idea, these vampyres can heat up a room WITHOUT electricity ;)

Calling for a Miracle was slightly different from Calling to Order in the aspect that it had more than one story going on. If you're familiar with the Black Dagger Brotherhood books you'll understand what I mean when I say there was a lot of plot going on here. Just when I was starting to get into Larissa and the Bishops story there would be a switch up to one of the side stories. At the time I was a little frustrated (I have no patients when true love is involved. LOL) but by the end of the book I understood why it was necessary. I'm going to get artsy here for a second, bare with me; Imagine 3 separate threads that eventually twine together to make a beautiful weave. Yeah, poetry was never my thing, but I'm sure you get the idea :)

In all; Calling for a Miracle was another wonderfully imaginative book brought to life with the creativity I've come to expect from Lydia Michaels. I loved it and am patiently awaiting *tapping foot* for Cain's story.

I was in in two minds about reading Dark Exodus. I had read Original Sin, the first book in the series and, while I enjoyed it, there were certain aspects mainly surrounding the treatment of and lack of any rights for the women in the community that just didn’t sit right with me. However the character of Bishop Eleazar King intrigued me so I decided to take a chance on the next book and I’m so glad I did. This book continues the storylines started in the first book with Eleazar hot on the trail of runaway Larissa. He isn’t happy when he sees her new lifestyle and is determined to drag her home but Larissa may be stronger than he thinks and has no intention of ever returning to her abusive husband. There are multiple storylines happening in this book including the romance elements between Larissa & Eleazar; her parents Jonas & Abilene; Cain’s search for somewhere he belongs not to mention the underlying plot of who or what exactly is killing women in the woods. All of these different threads should make it a confusing read but somehow they all weave together into a book you can’t put down. By the time I had finished this book I was left with a lot of questions and can’t wait until the next book to find what happens next.

Phenomenal, dark and thrilling story!

WOW! Talk about one hell of a thrilling and highly entertaining story! I could not take my eyes of the pages. I was hooked, utterly captivated and biting my nails the whole way through. It’s one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride that you never wanted to end.

Larissa starts off seeming naive and innocent but as her story progresses, she becomes stronger and more powerful than she ever imagined she could be. I loved her progression throughout the story. She had me laughing at her antics and breaking my heart with her pain.

We also dive deeper into Jonas and Abeline’s heartbreaking love story. These two just broke my heart over and over. They had my stomach in knots and tears streaming down my face. Theirs is an intense, emotional, angsty and heartbreaking love story to read about.

Brilliantly written story filled with outstanding imagery, phenomenal characters, poetic storytelling, unbelievable emotion that seeped out of every page, and edge of your seat suspense and spice that will keep you riveted to your seat unable to look away for fear that you might miss something.

Truly perfection on every page.

This series is just so exceptional and unique. I really enjoyed reading this book!!

This book starts right after the ending of book one and if you haven't read Original Sin then do that first. This story follows up the story of Larissa and Eleazar but also Larissa's family members facing different problems of their own specially her father Jonas and mother Abeline.

Larissa has run away from everything she ever knew, her parents and siblings, her Amish immortal community and most of all her awful abusive husband which is not her true mate but has made her life completely miserable.

Bishop Eleazar King has received his calling to his true mate Larissa. So he goes looking for her in a journey that will make him realise what is truly feel and care for someone.

The book is full of surprises and very heartbreaking moments. There is a lot going on in this series. I was at the edge of my sit the whole time. I love how the story can connect with different characters without being overwhelming or rush. Again we are left in a cliffhanger and can wait for what's to come next.

Only Lydia Michaels has the ability to write multiple pov throughout a book, but still concentrate on a single story.

The Order is their heritage and ruling elders. They are not vampire but "immortal". An Amish community hidden in plain sight. God fearing and ancient. Eleazar is the head of the Order. The Bishop. He has been called to his mate after 500 years. Larissa. Unfortunately she has run from home to seek out the world outside of her family and abusive husband.

Larissa and Eleazar have been fated to be mates. Eleazar has been called to her long ago. So he will hunt her down and make his claim. Still problems among the other residents are spiraling out of control. Ancient history comes back to haunt them. Larissa's husband is in a rage that she left. These moral "immortals" are in danger. A family separated needs to come back together.

Interwoven masterfully are beautiful stories of vampiric families trying to keep their secrets close. And their fated loves closer.
