This was a really spicy enemies to lovers story that will get you invested from the start! 🌶️

FIRST separation is when the hero kinda push the heroine away because after they first had s3x in the famous elevator, he had to be in the another country for a important work. That lasted for 3 weeks! AND BOTH ARE VERY LOYAL AND DID NOT GO TO ANYONE ELSE. THE SECOND SEPARATION is when the heroine found out about the hero is actually trying to sue her ex husband because of bad business. And what hurt her the most is that the hero actually thought the heroine is working with ex husband to get money and that the hero at first just wants to meet with the heroine to see her motives with her ex husband about the business… When in reality she have nothing to do with her ex’s business. The hero told her the truth and that made them separated again for the second time. THE SECOND SEPARATION LASTED FOR TWO MONTHS. And this is where is kind of annoying but kind of romantic lol. Some parts were good but some parts were boring. So overall, it was a 3.75 star read.

The idea behind the hate date seems exciting and intriguing, but it just feels flat. It's flat because it is honestly full of mostly sex, and there isn't an actual ongoing plot, if I'm being honest. This is portrayed as an enemies-to-lovers book, but I didn't get much of that feeling while reading it, but perhaps you will!
The first few chapters seem to draw you into the book, but after that, it falls flat. The big elevator scene is the main attraction and the beginning of the supposed romance, but I did not connect with Clover and Joar. Especially when Clover learned what Joar thought she was a part of.
She should have put his ass through the wringer. I don't care if he's attractive; you can fuck him later, but right now, he deserves some hell (which you gave to him too late 🙄 at least she got one orgasm in before she came to her senses). Not him thinking his sorry ass excuse is worth something😭 Bro thinks flying sixteen hours to apologize is a crucial point to this apology. . . how else would you get to British Columbia when you were in Singapore, sir? Not that smart. Plus, he gets angry like he didn't start the whole problem. Ugh, men have the audacity.
The potential came back when Clover's whole Hate Date became a thing but it ended way too fast. I thought the whole court situation could have been another potential to add more to the plot, yet again, it felt rushed through.

It was humorous, emotional, inspiring, a little angsty, at times frustrating (hello push and pull), a little nerve-wracking as you wait for the secrets to be revealed, and of course so damn steamy!!!
Joar and Clover were characters I instantly loved, even when they were slaying my emotions.
Clover is such a strong and determined heroine that you can't help but adore and admire.

This was a very quick and fun read. Very spicy! Both of the MC’s have money and are independent. That was different from what I’ve normally read where one is the billionaire and the other is financially struggling. So that was a refreshing new story line in the billionaire-trope world. You’ll love this book if you love the Hollywood scene with a lot of spice!

This is the first book from Kaylene Winters that isn’t a LTZ (Less Than Zero) book. It has one of the wives from LTZ and her husband makes a brief appearance but this is all Clover and Joar.
Clover has been at the top and gave it all up for her older husband, Harrison. Gave up her acting career and her brief popstar career. All for Harrison. When Harrison’s mistress, and Clover’s best friend, sends her a video of her with him, all bets are off. She’s done with both of them.
She packs her things and takes half of their joint account with her, she waits for him and lets him know they are done. She later learns that he has been involved in shady deals that bilked hundreds of clients and his company of millions of dollars, all without her knowledge.
When her agent calls and tells her that Veronica Miller has reached out and wants to speak to her, Clover is thrilled. It’s been eight months since she left her cheating ex. Absolutely LOVE everything about this story. Loved how it ties into the LTZ world a bit but won't matter if you read that series though. Totally fell in love with Joar & Clover along with all their flaws. Clover who was jaded but her cheating older ex husband & former best friend meets Joar who happens to have gone to college with her ex & is also a suit like Harrison. With her new found freedom she has sworn off dating suits & date the opposite type of guy. Joar takes over Harrison's company & of course believes Clover is part of the corrupt dealings he discovers Harrison has done & wants to get to the bottom of it so he can pay back all who have been a victim of Harrison. Joar has Clover investigated & followed but has to find out for himself what Clover is all about. Clover is restarting her acting career that she had put on hold for her ex. She's cast in a new show of her old childhood castmate Veronica Miller is producing which is being filmed at a studio lot that Joar owns. Joar makes it his business to go to the lot to see Clover for himself but dresses down to disguise himself. They end up getting stuck in an elevator overnight where Joar discovers just how much his type she is. Clover who starts to panic about being stuck in the elevator & Joar helps her calm down instead of letting her know who he is & why he's there. They have a night of fun while stuck in the elevator not knowing who their true indentiities are. Once Joar reveals who he is, Clover wants no part of him but will he convince Clover he is one of the good guys & win her trust & love and give him another shot with her. Joar creates the Hate Date list to do with Clover but can he get her to agree. This was such a great story that I couldn't put down. So glad I discovered Kaylene, love all her books.

Having followed and loved the Less Than Zero series by Kaylene Winter, I was excited to see what she would come up with how. The Hate Date is a sort of spin-off from her previous series. The Hate Date features Clover Calahan who appeared very briefly as the lead in Ronnie's new TV series. I sort of remember it, but couldn't have told you what her name was or much about her until this book.
After being completely screwed over by her now ex-husband, Clover is determined that any future relationship she has will be with someone completely different. Unfortunately, the man she finds herself unable to resist is very much like her ex. Joar is determined that they will be together, never having felt a connection to a woman like this before, but if he wants Clover than he has to prove that in the things that count, her really is different.
I liked Clover and Joar as a couple. They worked well and there was certainly plenty of heat, spice and chemistry. I rolled my eyes a little at their names to begin with, but got over that pretty quickly as the story progressed. The Hate Date was such a great enemies to lovers story. Joar runs multiple companies and is use to always knowing what situation he’s headed into. That changes when he meets Clover. She is the current ex wife of the man Joar is determined to take down. Even though Clover has been a victim of her ex husband’s shady dealings, Joar thinks she’s involved. He quickly realizes his mistakes, but Clover isn’t so quick to forgive. The pace of this story is perfect. You gets glimpses of Ronnie in this story as well. Overall I’d highly recommend reading this book!!

I love that this story is tied to Ronnie and her struggle with those crooks who made her life hell. Clover’s life hasn’t been a bed of roses either, in fact she had been married to one of the very men, Ronnie went after. Now her life seems to be looking up, she’s divorced, Ronnie has cast her in a new production she’s directing and she’s ready to date. Her Mary is insisting on it. Her problem is that she’s tired of dating the same type of men, rich, handsome and controlling. She’s over it, so Pax her new BFF is going to help her. The other story playing out, that she has no clue about is about to make his presence known. They haven’t met yet but I know that when they do, Joar is going to rock her world. Unfortunately he believes she’s a criminal like her husband and he’s going to try and bring her down. This book grabs you from the first pages and it’s hard to put down. Joar is rich, handsome and it’s hilarious the stuff going through his head. He’s a self made billionaire with no family and a sad background. Clovers life wasn’t any better than his but together they are beyond awesome. I don’t think JJ had ever been in love and he’s pushing fifty, but with Clover he’s like a teenager in love. It’s freaking adorable these two, he’s never put anything before his empire. Not anymore, he’s all into this relationship, she comes first. This is truly a love story, extremely romantic and I loved it. I’m giving it five stars and highly recommend it.

This book is Kaylene’s first departure from her LTZ rockstar series (although they exist in the same world) and it did not disappoint! Both Joar and Clover are not looking for a relationship. Clover is fresh off a divorce from her cheating ex-husband. Joar is the consummate bachelor, focused entirely on his work. Their paths cross when Joar takes over Clover’s ex-husbands company. He needs to figure out if she has his client’s money and knew about her ex’s shady dealings. Joar orchestrates a couple run-ins with Clover to get a feel for her. The attraction between these two is instant and boy can you feel it come off the page! When an elevator malfunctions, they find themselves trapped for the night and their explosive chemistry cannot be denied. But then Clover finds out who he really is and wants nothing to do with him, while Joar is convinced she’s the one. He sets on to take her on a series of “hate dates” to prove he’s worth taking a chance on.
I loved these two! Clover was the epitome of a strong, take no crap, female MC. She had no problems standing up for herself and demanding what she deserved. She put Joar in his place when he needed it, but also allowed him to break down her walls when he earned it. Joar made assumptions about Clover and that bit him in the butt. But this dirty talking man knew what he let get away and would not be deterred from making her his. Joar pulled out all the stops with Clover to atone for his actions when they first met and he was so swoony while doing that. I loved how the relationship between these two grew! The dirty talk, the spicy scenes, the explosive chemistry and the banter between them was all fire! I can’t wait to read more from Kaylene and this growing expansion to her world!

I loved this book so much. It is told in dual first person POV, full of back and forth between enemies to lovers, spicy chemistry and a HEA. I loved to get a glimpse of the members of LTZ and their significant others. It was great to see the other perspective of filming as well.
I was excited to read Clover’s story. My heart went out to her with everything that she had been through, but I was also so happy for her to finally get to have an amazing experience in the bedroom and other places. I loved that she got the chance to come back to her career and get to be a lead in a show that somewhat resembled her life.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about Joar. At first I disliked him for jumping to conclusions, but then I saw the tension and chemistry between him and Clover and how he opened her world to new experiences and liked him again. Then his doubt came back over and over and I wanted to shake some sense into him. In the end, he won me over.
I absolutely loved Jose’s idea of the Hate Date. It is a great idea as a way to get to know people, face your fears, have new experiences and make memories. I can honestly say I will probably never look at an elevator the same way again though. 🥵🥵 I think that may have been one of my favorite things about this book aside from the hate date idea!

I really enjoyed this unique twist on the billionaire and Hollywood tropes. This one felt so much more realistic, like it could have come right out of the news. Joar and Clover have instant chemistry that shocks both of them. They were absolutely explosive together, and that keeps them coming together when everything else is pushing them apart. Their relationship is way too intense for Clover, and she panics for a bit but then takes sensible steps. She speaks up and says what she needs, and I admired that. Joar does too, and he learns a good deal about listening during this story.

Hate Date by Kaylene Winter is the story of Joar and Clover. He’s just made a huge purchase…and the previous owner had issues. Joar believes the owner’s is ex-wife, Clover, was involved. This is a twisted, absorbing story that left me breathless!! Joar is a bit quick to judge, but, his heart is in the right place. Clover is just devasted, disheartened, and a bit jaded by her experiences. When the truth comes out…can either of them handle the repercussions?
I love flawed characters!! These two are flawed…but, in understandable, believable ways…the question is…they these flaws be overcome…and can the characters forgive?

Holy cow! It's love in an elevator and Steven Tyler has nothing on Clover and Joar because the chemistry is instant and off the charts.
The story is told in dual, first-person perspectives. Clover is done with rich arrogant men in suits. Her slimy husband cheated on her with her best friend after Clover gave up her acting career and her hope of a family. Her career is her top priority now and so far so good. She has found a great role to put her on track. Joar is a billionaire who buys floundering companies and turns them around, think Richard Gere in Pretty Woman. He grew up in foster care and went to college where he met his roommate and Clover's ex, Harrison Finklestein, who screwed him over. Payback's a bitch because Harrison's shady deals have got him in hot water and Joar is taking his company. And, he's positive Clover is complicit.
She's got cold feet, and he's all in. It's the opposite of their normal routines so the confusion is genuine and the jumping to conclusions is a problem. But not before they meet and spend all night in a broken elevator screwing their brains out. Hawt! Unfortunately, Joar was hiding his true identity, and guess who finds out?
I love seeing a strong, confident, arrogant confirmed bachelor lose his heart and his mind over an honest, kind, and sexy woman who knows what she wants. Joar has been alone as a powerful businessman for years and it's hard for him to let loose of the reins in his personal life. What I like most is that they grow as a couple realizing their strengths and the habits and routines they need to change in order to be partners in everything.

He's too much like her ex-husband – a suit-wearing, rich, powerful business mogul – and he wasn’t totally honest with her. Aside from the fact Joar and Clover can’t seem to keep their hands, and other parts, off each other (rabbits don’t get as busy as these two do), this romance has a lot to recommend it. I loved the growth of the two main characters and how they were willing to compromise and work things out. I loved that Clover stayed true to herself and that an old dog like Joar could learn some new tricks. Humorous and heartfelt, with tons of steam and a little drama, this one is a terrific reading escape.

Thank you Valentine PR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC! I’m sad because the description for this book really excited me but this just wasn’t for me. The language was so very weird, like I am a huge smut girly but the dirty talk was cringe and just not correct. The main characters were also so cheugy? Like I do not need to know the brand of everything you own? I don’t need to know that you’re packing your clothes in your Louis Vuitton luggage or whatever or that you only have your Cartier watch on instead of your apple watch like that’s weird and doesn’t add anything to the story. I don’t know I didn’t have a good time and if I’m being completely honest I skimmed 98% of the book and a pained expression on my face 100% of the book. The progression of their relationship wasn’t very developed, it was also very insta-lovey. I don’t know maybe I’m just not a Hollywood trope kind of girl, I’m certainly not an insta-love kind of girl so there were a lot of forces working against me. If you’re into:

Except Clover isn't having it… She finds out who he is and things spin out of control. Then the wooing begins. He wants Clover to give them a chance, so Joar takes her on a "hate date" to show her how good things can be. And he continues to show her who he really is with his time, his attentiveness, and his persistence.
Clover is so assertive and sassy Oh my dog! She is determined not to repeat past mistakes, so she is sure to voice exactly what she does and doesn't want. I respect that. But as he chips away at her flawed reasoning, her beauty and strength shines through even more!!
I absolutely love Clover and Joar!!! Their spiciness is 🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵 and I am here for it!! They grow together and I love how much their journey as a couple helps them to grow as individuals. Kaylene Winter (the author) is amazing at doing this in her books and it makes the characters so much more authentic.
Love seeing some 'Less than Zero' peeps here. (Less than Zero is a series by this author following a band (Less than Zero) through so many ups and downs. 'The Hate Date' is definitely a standalone, but if you like mega spicy rock star romance, I highly recommend them.)

Meet Clover a child actress/pop star who gave it all up for the love of a man. A man who she's just found out is cheating on her with her BFF and so Clover after confronting him and showing him the evidence (kindly provided by said BFF) walks away ready to reinvent herself and reclaim her career.
Which is how she meets grumpy, suit wearing, billionaire Joar. Who has just crushed her ex-Harrison and taken control of his company after its revealed he has been stealing from his clients.
And he's exactly the type of man Clover has sworn off.
Yet, Joar believes Clover is involved in her ex's misdeeds and is determined to get close enough to her to find out. But it doesn't quite go to plan. As once Joar lays eyes on Clover he's hooked and the pair spend eight hours trapped in an elevator having the hottest, dirtiest sex of their lives.
Only Clover has no idea who Joar really is and when she finds out she wants nothing to do with him.
So, Joar creates a hate date in order to get Clover to go out with him, and it works.
However, their romance is far from easy as both have big trust issues and don't wholly believe the feelings they bring out in each other are real or will last forever. But they can't deny the sex is AMAZING!!!
And with sooo many spicy moments, great characters and some pretty awful ones. Yes, I do mean her ex! This was a great read. That had me completely hooked and it was the perfect story to introduce me to author Kaylene Winter and I would happily recommend The Hate Date to all. 😊

First I want to thank the author for allowing me to read this book as an ARC.
I was really excited to read this book and the prologue had me on the edge of my seat.
After about 60% in, I got really confused. I felt like the book was moving so fast and left so much room for questions.
I felt like there was so much going on but nothing going on at the same time. The book felt very rushed and too many things were happening making me very confused about the storyline.
It never actually dove into their relationship, just talked about sex and out of the blue fights that led to “breaks” every month. I didn’t understand it.
Maybe it is just me and I need to read it again to give it more or a fair chance. These authors spend so much time and put so much heart into their craft and I know that not every book is for everyone but I feel horrible when I don’t love a book.

As a big age gap junkie, this book had no trouble enticing me into reading it. I have to admit though that I struggled a bit at the start because while my heart was just breaking for Clover, I honestly didn't like Joar that much. In fact, I felt he was quite a jerk...but my oh my, how things do change!! Lol Regardless of how you my view him initially, this man is so going to steal his way right into your heart. These two truly take you on a fun and emotional journey that is filled romance, heart, feels, humor, steam, drama and twists that will have your heart aching, chuckling out loud and leave you sappy, smiling and swooning. This is my unbiased, unsolicited review.

I really enjoyed this book! I’m not surprised though, Kaylene Winter has yet to let me down. She’s an actress in the middle of scandal, he’s a billionaire who’s found himself entangled in that same scandal. This was so deliciously spicy. I almost feel like I was reading three mini stories as I read this. There was before the elevator, the elevator and after the elevator. I’ll never look at a stranger in an elevator the same way again! I loved the development of JJ and Clover’s relationship and all the twists and turns that lead to the ending. This was so fun to read!
