boss, an assistant, and their forbidden love.

Jarred was once the rising star of the London financial world. But a cruel twist of fate upended his world, and he walked away from it all. For two years, his life has been about forgetting. Now, the patriarch of the Campbell real-estate empire has finally had it with his son’s escapades, and he’s called him home to London.

Rose Murphy had a longtime secret crush on her boss, Jarred, but she’s got an iron-clad rule about no romance in the workplace. Now he’s back, and soon she is second-guessing her principles all over again.

What Rose doesn’t know is the one unwritten rule within the Campbell family, and Jarred is not planning on adhering to it.

But what are the consequences for both of them?

This is a read that I really enjoyed. These characters pulled me in to their lives, the ups and downs involved with trying to hide their relationship and dealing with outside forces, like her ex and his family. Jarred and Rose click so well, I loved their slower burn, the getting to know each other, how well it all comes together. Jarred's family is very interesting and I'm looking forward to more from this series!

This was an ok read. I did find it slow going here and there. Jared could have grown a pair and told his brother and father off at anytime but I just couldn’t understand why he would put up with them as long as he did.

The Campbells are a rich family in England, with many holdings, particularly in architecture and real estate. This story follows the youngest sibling, Jarred.

Jarred used to work in Campbell Investments until his mother's death turned his world on its head. Not able to handle his grief properly, he partied hard for 2 years straight. When his dad finally decides that he has had enough of Jarred's behaviour, he is forced to return to London to work in his old department, but as an assistant. He soon finds that his boss, Rose, is as charming as he remembers and is soon enamoured with her. But the Campbells don't mix business with pleasure, so will their relationship ever outgrow the fling stage?

Rose had always had a thing for Jarred before his departure from the company, and now that he's back and she's seeing him in a new light, her fantasies of him align with her real-time view of him. But he's the owner's son, and she's afraid of what it would do to her reputation career-wise if word got out that she was dating him.

Rose & Jarred's romance was sweet, with a satisfying slow burn. Their chemistry was unmistakable. It's full of family drama and little mysteries that promise answers as the series progresses, I hope.

This is my first read by Gloria Daven and this first book in the series was a great introduction. While it introduced many characters, and name-dropped a few, I wasn't lost as I read. I look forward to more from this series; it already is intriguing.

An office romance! That too boss-assistant, so it's right up my alley and a trope I absolutely adore.

Jarred is the youngest sibling in the Campbell family, a prominent and rich family in England. After his mother's death, he's unable to handle his grief, leaving his job at the family business behind and blindly partying and letting go for two years right. Now his father's had enough and he's forced to come back. Rose always had a thing for him but she has a rule about no romance in the workplace and so does he. But now that he's back, she's seeing him in a different light than before and all her fantasies about him are coming back ten-fold.

The romance between Rose and Jarred was more on the sweet side, something I haven't read in a while since my tastes usually as of late have been on the darker side, and this was a slow-burn. The connection between them was undeniable and the chemistry so evident. The book is the first in a series and it's already filled with family drama and mysteries that make me so excited for the future books, which I'm definitely coming back for.

I’m definitely intrigued by this new series! This was a great start and introduction to a new series and a interesting family. Jarred is back working with his brother after taking a two year break and he is not happy about it. Rose now has to figure out how to work with Jarred without making a fool out of herself. These two definitely have a great connection and fun chemistry. Both Jarred and Rose have dysfunctional former relationships that still haunt them. Jarred and Rose found each other at a perfect time in their lives, they both needed someone to be supportive and there for each other. This was a great fast paced read with so many interwoven stories mashed into one great read. There were definitely a lot of different characters introduced in this book and I look forward to seeing what happens with them next.

This is Book 1 in the London Love Affairs Series and my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and the characters. It is an off limits romance between Jarred and his assistant Rose. These likeable characters and the unique plot make for an intriguing read. It is a slow burn love story filled with drama, steam, family dynamic, frustrating moments, unexpected twists, and passion, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. The main characters share an undeniable chemistry and connection. An engaging page turner with a happy ending.

Jared and Rose have a history of troubled relationships and that definitely has affected them both in different ways. They both had a lot of soul searching to do in this story and it was written well. I found myself rooting for them both.

This is my first read by Gloria Daven so it was interesting for me to see what her writing style is like. I have to say this book felt a bit complicated with a lot of storylines in one book. It didn’t really bother me but it can be a bit too much. I did enjoy this story and I definitely love Jared and Rose. It is a fast paced story – so that for me works in its favour because a slow paced story with so many threads would be frustrating. All in all, it’s a good read.

Forbidden by Gloria Daven is the First book in the London Love Affairs Series. This is the story of Jarred and Rose. Rose is the assistant to Jarred and the Campbell family real estate. Rose has found that she has a crush on Jarred but knows that due to her job and who he is it can't go anywhere. Jarred was once the business star of the business world but that was two years ago. Jarred choose to walkway from it all after something happened. Now in his present day his father has called him back to the family Campbell real estate empire. I enjoyed this book and will be looking for from this series and author.

I ended up reading Alice and Liam's story before reading the first book in the series and was very curious about this lovely couple. Despite, them being side characters in the other books their love fascinated me.

Jarred and Rose's story is really sweet yet slow burn. It was amazing to read them fall in love while keeping it a secret. They didn't just have to fight everyone's judgement but also make their family understand the love they shared.

I am always in awe with the bond these Campbell's share with each other. Cannot wait for the remaining Campbell siblings stories.

Thanks to Gloria for a copy for a honest review 😊.

Good start to a series that grabbed my attention. I can be picky about the office romance trope because it can become a bit cliche. But this book didn’t have that.

Rose and Jarrod are a fun pair and their chemistry was off the charts. Family and past relationships have shaped them but these two deserved to be with one another. I was rooting for them.

The story dragged just a tad but the various secondary characters kept it interesting and am anxious to read subsequent books.

This is Jarred and Rose’s story. Jarred had it all when he walked away from everything, and now 2-years later he has been summoned home and is back working with his brother. Rose has had a crush on Jarred for some time, but she has a stead fast rule about relationships in the workplace. The chemistry between these two is intense and undeniable. This is a good story which is fast paced, and is intriguing, and with family, drama, emotions, and love, which leads to an enjoyable tale. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend this story.

Forbidden is the first in a new series - London Love Affairs. Jarred, the youngest of his brothers, known to England as one of the prominent rich families. Jarred comes back to work for his families business. Rose has already had a crush on Jarred, and now that he is back, she is trying to not make a fool out of herself as they are working together. I really enjoyed the chemistry between these two. Getting introductions to all the family drama and side characters makes me excited for the other books in the series.

Out of the ordinary
This definitely is not your typical office romance. Rose and Jarrod are great characters with off-the-chart chemistry that they are unable to act upon due to their working together. The other characters are also interesting, and hopefully they will be the subjects of the remaining books in this series.
Looks like another addictive series by Ms. Daven. Can’t wait!
