The Resurrection

Rate this book
From the moment Danny Black met Rose Cassidy, he knew she’d be the death of him. But their electric connection and twisted love gave him a purpose beyond ruling Miami with his iron fist. Faking his own death and disappearing to St. Lucia was the only way he could escape the deadly underworld that brought them together. But his seclusion was sabotaged when a notorious assassin lured him out and made him an offer he couldn’t ignore.

So Danny was forced to decide whether to remain concealed and pray his enemies didn’t find him, or re-emerge and take back control of his town. His future.

James Kelly’s sole purpose was to find and kill the man who ordered the death of his family. Peace would never be his until then. Beau Hayley, a scarred former cop, was the key to his mission. He was supposed to kill her. Instead, he fell in love with her. Forced to accept that he could no longer fight his war and keep Beau safe from their enemies, he sought out the only man who could help him.

But by resurrecting the infamous Brit, James unwittingly started an even bigger war.

Two lethal men. One shared goal.

Keep their women safe.

And survive.

But only one of them can come out the other side alive.

PHEW!
🔥

That was ... something.
I loved reading it. I loved seeing our darlings again. But it was also so very sad and heartbreaking and dark and hopeless. But of course we also hope all through the book that we'll all end up happily on our island again in the end.
Who knows... I'm not telling you.😎

The other two books were very dark and murdery already, but I had the feeling that we got a tiny bit too many very bloody and graphic torture moments this time. I don't like mafia books in general - if I read one, I need to really love the bad criminal guy to love the story. And I do love our two guys so much - but they were a tiny bit too sociopathic-happily-tortury for my tastes this time.
But still - I loved reading it. It was exciting, dangerous, suspensy, mysterious and of course also adorable and funny and super sexy!

This is a really great dark romantic series!

I so need a Miami/St. Lucia-based TV show now please!

Tiny little rant - as always when a British author writes American characters - it's one of my book weirdnesses. Jodi is British. Our heroes are British. All perfectly fine. BUT... our heroines are not British. So I would've wished for an American editor to fix all of the girls' British words and expressions - and there are a lot! Especially the ALRIGHT or OKAY question that an American would never ask without an are you or just a you. But don't worry, I'm the only one bothered by that!

THE RESURRECTION was a perfect + suspensy + sexy + exciting + heartbreaking addition to this great dark romantic series! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Danny + James - these two are MINE!
.
.
DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING LINES IF YOU'RE SUUUPER AFRAID OF S P O I L E R S
- it's not a real one but a tiny little bitty one: Some of you might want to know if there will be a happy end this time... and I can't tell you that - it would totally ruin your reading pleasure. But ... no. Ugh. But ... Hm. 🤣
.
.
.
.
.
.
Maybe I could say that we haven't heard the last from this world?!? Was that too s p o i l e r y already? Or I could say what my face looked like after reading the last page? → 😱

#1 The Brit — 3.75 stars
#2 The Enigma — 2.75 stars
#3 The Resurrection — 3.5 stars

ok, i had contradictory feelings towards the heroines in this book. while i cheered on Rose in her book (The Brit), she was quite insufferable here. i wasnt really a fan of Beaus stubborn arse in her book (The Enigma), but she was finally behaving in a way that preceded her old moniker, Lara Croft, and i was up for it. meanwhile, the Hs kinda just stayed the same. i loved Danny like always, and i didnt really have opinions on James like usual.

Rose was feeling particularly salty about Dannys “resurrection.” i wished she’d just get over it already and enough with the “i want us to live a normal life” BS. Danny was in his element, and he was kickass as a mafiaboss. i loved the partnership between him & James, and the friendship forming between Rose & Beau. this book was told through the POV of all these characters, but i always found myself more interested in Danny/Rose chapters.

this book was just as action packed as the other two, but i feel like the plot dragged - which made sense in the end cause apparently this wasnt gonna be the final book like i thought. i enjoyed my time reading this series, but i also was ready for it to be over. *sigh* i hope instead of giving these characters a mundane HEA, please give them a mafia worthy ending where they become the most feared royalty in the underworld or something.

This is one of my one click authors and she did an awesome job told this book in 4 point of views amazing she could keep up with all those conversation between the main characters. What do you do when two Unlawful men team up together to catch a person who have destroyed their families. Should Miami be afraid? The answer is YES, especially when the Danny Black the Angel Face Assassin & the Enigma team up together. The only people these two are afraid of is their women Rose & Beau and they will do anything to protect the women they love. All I can say is get the book, so many move parts it will keep you on the edge of your seat from the 1st page to the last. The cliffhanger is nail biting and can't wait to see what and how Jodi Ellen Malpas will top this one.

"We're no longer hidden by death. We're no longer invulnerable. We have someone to live for.
And we need to be careful."

Ok, I'm pretty sure this is a case of, it's me, not you...

Without going into the plot and revealing spoilers, I will just say that Danny Black has been living off the grid and has been presumed dead, as we know. But after some of the events that transpired in The Enigma, he believes he's being forced out of hiding.

While I didn't dislike this book, I struggled with really getting into it. I felt like the heroines were the ones with the real balls in the story and Danny and James were just caricatures of their former selves.

I don't mind stories like these usually. Ones that are not about an HEA but instead about furthering a plot. Going into it, the idea reminded me of J.A. Redmierski's The Company of Killers series AND my all-time fave J.M Darhower's Sempre series. Both of these series did what the author is doing here. But in both of those, I was invested the entire time.

I found myself getting super annoyed by Rose repeatedly, where she was my bad ass bitch in the first book. I was past the halfway point of this book before I finally felt like it was keeping my attention...I don't know.

Maybe it was the 4 POVs, maybe it was the overall flow. I just couldn't connect.

In the end, while I loved the idea of this book and I enjoyed a few parts, overall, this one was just ok for me.

Interested in seeing where this series goes next.

I was provided with an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Resurrection is book 3 in the Unlawful Men series and my god we get Danny Black (back from the dead) and James Kelly (The Enigma) in one book working together Jodi Ellen Malpas you have gave us alpha male overload!!
It's fast, it's thrilling, it's extremely red hot and it has plenty of mafia style action.
It's told from 4 POV which works really well, it's enjoyable to read how all these different characters bring something different to the table to make this dysfunctional family.
My only problem is we have to wait until January for book 4 after that cliffhanger!!!
For escapism and alpha overload them this series is definitely what you need 📚

**SPOILER-FREE REVIEW**

‘I’m the only man in this world who can love her. Therefore, I’m the only man in this world who can hurt her. Because true pain only comes from loving someone. It’s a lesson we’ve both learned, and we both live by. She’s my beginning. And she will be my end.’

The Resurrection (Unlawful Men #3) by Jodi Ellen Malpas was simply outstanding; it was magnificent. We fell in love with this series in THE BRIT , we were wowed by THE ENIGMA The Enigma and now, well, we’re completely bowled over by The Resurrection. What an amazing series penned by this Author. There truly is no doubt now, this is our favourite series by Jodi Ellen Malpas and The Resurrection is now our all-time favourite book of hers. Incredibly well written, in fact, it was stunningly flawless, The Resurrection captured us from the first page, kept us riveted throughout, and had us on the edge of our seats with the dramatic twists, the vengeful suspense, and the unadulterated passion. We couldn’t put it down, The Resurrection played out before our eyes as we went on a rollercoaster journey with Danny, Rose, James, and Beau. To have the proverbial ‘balls’ to write a four POV story and for it to come across so incredibly fluid and effortless, well that is not a simple feat, but Jodi Ellen Malpas nailed it!

‘We’re no longer hidden by death. We’re no longer invulnerable. We have something to live for. And we need to be careful.’

We’re not going to go into any elements of The Resurrection as it would be unfair to spoil it for potential readers who are yet to pick this series up. What we will say is, pick this series up, now! For readers who love their organised crime tropes, their anti-heroes, erotic passion, angst, and drama, do not hesitate, you must pick up the Unlawful Men series by Jodi Ellen Malpas. It’s a must-read that will have you ‘bum to seat’ as you devour each installment, immediately grabbing the next, needing to know what could possibly happen next! And if you have already read The Brit and The Enigma, wow have you got something amazing in store for you when you pick up this third installment.

“We bagged ourselves murderers. We’re living the fucking dream, Rose.”

The Brit, Danny Black, and The Enigma, James Kelly are without question two of our favourite anti-heroes. These men are magnificent in their own right, but when they join forces, they are out of this world. We’d love to be the meat in this sandwich! But let’s not forget Rose Cassidy and Beau Hayley, two strong, passionate, and feisty women who give as good as they get and love their men with their entire beings. A love that is entirely and wholeheartedly reciprocated. The sexual chemistry is explosive, yet also somewhat toxic!

“Oh baby, you’re one of the only people in this world I would never kill, and yet I want to kill you the most.”

“Make it bloody.”

This magnetic foursome’s journey to unmask The Bear and end him as well as the incessant hold he has over them all is one of violence, suspense, and drama. We cannot stress how well-written this particular storyline was. We felt it like we were there, experiencing it, living it. In fact, it felt as if we were watching a movie. Alongside we lived the personal journey each couple goes on which is one of healing, love, and passion. Intermittent humour breaks up the dark with perfect comedic timing. It’s dark in every which way, it’s emotionally enticing, it’s scorchingly hot and utterly compelling. If we could give this wild ride of a book more than five stars we would, in a heartbeat! Is it too early to call out that we’ve found a favourite read of the year in the third week of January 2022?

“You’re bringing more hope into my world. I don’t want to hate, baby. I want to love and be loved. Treasure and be treasured. I want life, I want you…”

What a ride!
What an insane ride!
The Resurrection by Jodi Ellen Malpas was such an intense, suspenseful, dark romance.
The Unlawful Men series by JEM has been an addictive read for me…Hello Danny and James! In The Resurrection, we get to read the power house of that is Danny and James, destroy the villain The Bear.

I’m trying really hard not the spill the spoilers here but OH MY GAWD!!!! The Resurrection is dangerous, brutally ruthless, explosively passionate and viciously intense. And the twist and turns kept me on my toes for the entirety of the time.

I LOVE JEM’s books so much and this book just proved why she is my go-to one-click author.

JEM dropped the ball on this one. I love the men, but she totally screwed up the women.

We pick up at the end of the last book after Beau has been shot and she lost the baby. James Kelly (The Enigma) has enlisted the help of Danny Black (The Brit) to provide a safe place for her to recover. Most of the world still thinks Danny is dead, but the enemy James was hunting, The Bear, now knows that Danny is still alive. Danny and James combine forces in order to take out a mutual enemy. Those two are awesome together. Two sexy killers are always better than one. Beau and Rose become fast friends, as well.

The gang heads back to Miami and back to the mansion where they're joined by Esther (Danny's mom), Daniel (Rose's son), Lawrence/Zennia (Beau's uncle), Brad Black (Danny's cousin, strip club owner), Otto (James's righthand man), Goldie (James's righthand woman), Ringo (Danny's righthand man), and the Viking Twins Fury and Tank (a great addition).

There is some action in this, but not as suspenseful as the other books. The lack of action is more noticeable because the book is so damn long. The big issue is the women. We don't get strong Rose and Beau we did in the previous books. We get crying train wrecks who make me want to drown them.. All they do is nag and mope and make their situation a million times worse. I didn't enjoy them at all in this book. I especially hated Beau. She refuses to defend James to her dad or Ollie. She pretty much takes a stance of "ignore them and it'll go away". Then in the epilogue, when we should get the HEAs, she acts like an utter twat. I wanted to slap the spit out of her mouth. Rose has a ton of her own annoying moments. Drove me crazy.

It's really the guys and the sides that kept this one going for me.

Did I say HEA? No..... we get a cliffy - which pissed me off. That said - I still want to read more of Danny & James.

Again, Audio is stellar. And the SEX there's a ton of it and it's magnificent.

"We're no longer hidden by death. We're no longer invulnerable. We have someone to live for. And we need to be careful."

After reading The Brit and The Enigma I was pumped up to see Danny & James in action together and this book did not disappoint! It was everything I expected- dangerous, twisted, highly entertaining, filled with suspense and some great twists and turns that had me questioning everyone's motives. This was my favourite book in the entire series and honestly is was so sweet to see Rose, Danny, Beau & James together and more than that, I liked to see Beau in action and finally putting her FBI training into use. I loved that they formed their own special relationships and together, they grew to become a huge happy family. I loved all the side characters- Brad, Esther, Otto, Goldie, Daniel and the entire gang! I'm not going into the details of the plot because then I would have to spoil some secrets. Trust me, you'll have a much better experience if you go into this book blind and learn what happens as the book progressess, without getting spoiled beforehand.
Overall, this was like an action packed cinematic experience (with four pint of views) that had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put this book down at all, I just wanted to know what happens next and I couldn't even decipher when it reached the end, but is it truly the end? ;-)

Must be a case of "it's not you, it's me."

I really liked the first 2 in this series but this one took ages for me to get into. Like over half way before I felt interested. Not sure if that's because of the 4 povs and it just didn't flow aswell. Also I found myself getting annoyed by Rose and I loved her in the first book.

The ending was great, so I'll be back for the next book.

This is one of my favorite cast of characters. Their found family and the couples, Danny and Rose and James and Beau, are so phenomenal.

Overall, for this book, the pacing was too slow. I wanted more movement, more suspense. The plot dragged, and I really felt like with how The Engima left off, this one would have been on the go the whole time.

I still love this series as a whole, but this one, the pacing was too slow to keep my interest.

This was only good in the sense that we got to see Danny and Rose however and that’s a huge however, this is an extremely long, boring and pointless book. Don’t waste your money honestly.

I swear to God this could have been written better but she ruined it.

I found this so cheesy and stupid.

Literally every scene was Rose & being kept in the dark about anything related to the “plan” which is the reason for the book. Scene after scene of poor Rose begging Danny to just tell her what’s going on. Over and over and OVERRRRR again we have to hear Danny be sexist and treat his “little wife” like a little idiot.

There are alot of sexist jokes in here as well.

Every chapter kept grating on my nerves! Now there’s a book 4? Lmao when this ended in a cliffhanger I said good luck. This author is absolutely out of her mind.

I have no idea why she wrote this book. This entire book was cheesy joke after cheesy joke of all 4 of them being depressed and fighting their battles in inner monologue form.

I love books told in multiple POVs. Not this one.

The more I read the angrier I felt. I wish this would have been fun and exciting like book 1 :(

This became so stupid and corny like some bad lifetime movie. Shoot a gun, bad guy winks, makes a corny joke… ugh

Who is the audience for this though? The Brit was so good how was this SO BAD?!

Bad bad bad this book is so and. The plot, the writing, the stupid cheesy one liners, the frustration levels of how the men treated the woman like sexist jerks they are.

The way this author wrote the way a husband talks to his wife makes me scared for what she believes in TBH.

Why on earth did this entire book consist of:
Rose: begs her HUSBAND for god sakes to ask her what’s going on
Danny: lies belittles her and laughs in her face
Corny joke, sex scene, more cringe corny one liners.
Me asking myself why the author did this.

Then more corny things until a stupid cliffhanger. Lol

Screw this book so much. I couldn’t hate a book more to be honest. This was so cringe every step of the way.

Cringe!!!!! Cringe the entire time. I need a shower from the corny lifetime movie writing of this dumb book.

Jeeze this series can't get any better!

I mean theres going to be literally no surprise in this review. The Resurrection was everything.

📚 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Mafia romance

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Danny "The Brit" has been forced out of hiding by an immediate threat, and teams up with James "The Enigma" Kelly to take back Miami, all while dealing with their fiery, woman-warrior significant others.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: I don't know if I've ever been more impressed by a book. How do you move to a surprise third book, and write it in FOUR POVs without losing a bit of the passion and story excellence that I found in the first two books? I'm simply in awe.

If you've been here awhile you know I'm a huge fan of this series. It's one of only two mafia series I've got on my top tier reads list. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁 was the story of Danny and Rose. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗺𝗮 followed it this fall with the story of James and Beau. Both books were absolutely incredible. Really great plots alongside super compelling characters, along with some top tier spice.

I had my doubts on 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, but was obviously proven wrong. All four main characters get their time in the sun. Their stories progress flawlessly. It felt so good to continue their stories. Their individuality is preserved. It's honestly awesome to see someone write like this.

So here's the deal. You can read either 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁 or 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗺𝗮 as standalones. But I'm 100% recommending reading all three, in order. None of them end on crazy cliffhangers. They end on a sane evolution to the next book. And now with the surprise edition of a fourth book? I'm kind of shook.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 4.5/5 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

Well, well, well. Ms Jodi Ellen Malpas came to play!!
Be ready for some insane violence, dark humor and some fun interactions between our fearsome foursome in the 3rd book of Unlawful Men!

The Brit is book one and Danny and Rose's story. The Enigma is book 2 and is James and Beau's story. And The Resurrection is book 3 and JEM tells this story in 4 POVs. From Danny and Rose and James and Beau. And she does it seamlessly. You must read each book in order as they are a continuation from the previous books. Book 3 brings all the characters together after Danny and Rose being off the grid for 3 years in St Lucia. James brings them back to Miami to take down The Bear, the ultimate villain mafioso. But the Bear has many others he has doing his job, so he's making their return more difficult than they want. How will these 4 fair in the game of taking down these animals?

"Monsters can't be tamed.....But they can hibernate and resurface more powerful"

Oh my! Well, I'm going to keep this one short. If you thought you knew what to expect after reading the first 2 books, throw all your preconceived notions out the door and be prepared for anything.
The first chapters took some getting used to. 4 POVs is a lot to take in, but JEM was able to distinguish each character with very different personalities. When all was said and done, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. We needed to hear from each character.

The Resurrection is filled with the ultimate violence, sex, love, protectiveness, personal growth and a lot of banter that had me laughing. Yes, these dark and cold mafia men and their women made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. I loved seeing Rose and Beau connect and form a friendship that neither one of them thought they would be able to have. Their relationship was a standout for me. Then there was Beau and her growth. I finally got to see a part of Beau that I wanted to see before. One killer woman that could play with the big guys while still working through her demons.

With all that said, I was 100% invested in this story. It took me a few chapters with all the point of views, but once I was in...I was in. The Resurrection is a story of revenge, love and family. The plot is insane with a steady build up, the character development was on point for each person and the twists kept coming. AND That ending?! WHAT THE WHAT?!!! Mind unexpectedly blown.
If antiheroes are your jam, stop what you're doing and read this series!

A wild ride

Phew. What a WILD ride! Malpas clearly left plenty of breadcrumbs in the first two books, because this masterfully sews two different love stories together and advances the suspenseful element in a big way. Full disclosure: I struggled with this story for at least 100 pages at the beginning. It felt like all of the progress these couples made in their respective books was just GONE, and everything felt pretty bleak and desolate. Which... yeah, was an intentional choice for the story. But it certainly wasn't what I wanted. I'm really not a trilogy kinda girl, and - since there was no mention of this being an ongoing series when I started reading - I'm going into this one kicking and screaming. Because that's really what this is; it's ESSENTIAL that you read The Brit and The Enigma prior to starting The Resurrection... and the series ain't over yet.

I'm going to try to avoid offering spoilers, but I suggest skipping this review and jumping right into the book if you want to go in completely blind. This story picks up right where The Enigma left off, with both of our couples dealing with the fallout of recent events. James and Beau thought they had found happiness, only to have it torn away. And Danny is forced to upend his life in paradise to get back in the game. No one is happy about the situation, and it threatens to tear both couples apart - especially because Danny is breaking Rose's trust by coming back from the dead. Forced to team up, these two brutal killers discover that they've met their match in each other... and that could either be their biggest advantage or the thing that finally takes one of these powerful men down.

If you made it through The Brit and The Enigma, then neither the violence nor the steam will surprise you. There is plenty of both, with a SIGNIFICANT focus on the suspense. With two established couples at the start of the book, this wastes no time heating up in a variety of ways. It's INTENSE and violent, with complex characters and developed relationships that are full of intimacy. I loved how this tied everything together and then had its own vibe, which kept me on the edge of my seat in the back half. What I struggled with the most was how these characters buckled under the pressure, showing the worst sides of themselves in ways that I thought we'd moved past. It's not always enjoyable reading, but it IS excellent writing from Malpas, and I started fully connecting once things took a turn. It was the back half that shined for me - once these couples work out their differences, I loved how they became stronger together. And the suspenseful element? Had my full attention by the end. Yes, this ends on another CLIFFHANGER, and I would love it if another couple were at the center of the next book (maybe Brad and a mystery woman?), but there's definitely more story to tell. All in all, this ended up being another fantastic addition to a stellar series, and it certainly won me over along the way.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
OMG, I can not wait for everyone to read this one. You will not be able to put it down, except for work and sleep. And maybe not then.
What happens when The Brit and The Enigma collide, you get The Resurrection. Somehow, someone finds out that Danny Black is alive and his world on the island is compromised. So they must go back to Miami and find out who is after him now.
There is so much going on, so many people after Danny and James but who is "The Bear and why is he after them? That is the big question but you will have to read the book for answers.
This story is filled with murder, mystery, romance, cold-heartedness, intrigue, and best of all love.
This author has once again shown that she can write a story that you can picture in your mind as if you are watching on TV. Malpas has grown into this world of dark romance and is only getting better with each book written. I can not wait for more.

5 star Review The Resurrection ( (Unlawful Men #3) by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Oh my stars, I am not sure where to start with this review. If you thought the first two books in this series were intense then you are in for one heck of a ride with The Resurrection.
This book was everything I was expecting and so much more. Jodi Ellen Malpas has certainly made her mark with the Unlawful Men series. I am the first to admit that I am not a huge fan of Mafia romance but Ms. Malpas quickly changed me opinion with the first two books and this one has cemented it.
From the first chapter I was invested in The Resurrection and spent a lot of my time on the edge of my seat waiting to see what she had in store for Danny Black and Rose Cassidy as well as James Kelly and Beau Hayley, both couples we met in the earlier books.
Danny and James on their own were formidable opponents but when they join forces they are on another level as they come together to hunt down The Bear, a man who is determined to destroy both the men and the women they love.
This is a raw, intense, at times violent story that will keep you on your toes. The banter between the characters was witty and the friendship that was forged between Rose and Beau was interesting.

The Resurrection (Unlawful Men #3)
By Jodi Ellen Malpas

**ARC REVIEW**

Where do I begin with this book?

I can’t believe all this was in Jodi’s head! I mean this is just madness to think she can come up with this mind-blowing literature for us to read and devour in just a few days!

What to expect with this book: we have guns, we have revenge, we have the thrill of the kill, we have a mission, we have love, and we have family. I can no longer listen to the song ‘Don’t let me down’ by the Chainsmokers without thinking of Danny & Rose.

The Brit, aka Danny Black, marks himself as the alpha in this book with his wife Rose by his side. Not to forget the dark presence of The Enigma aka James Kelly and his girlfriend Beau by his side too. Both men with their achilleas heal, their women. Their mission is most important so that they can get back to St. Lucia to live out their lives in paradise.

We find out more information on ‘The Bear’ and his crime umbrella and get to understand how dangerous The Brit and The Enigma really can be, especially when combined.

There are lots of sexy moment and swoon moments in this book too which I loved. Danny and James really are in love with their ladies, and it was done in such a macho, swoony way that was both hot and adorable. Dangerous men do have gooey centres and it made me love them even more!
Set in the POV of all four characters, you really got to know how each was feeling and how much love and desire they each shared. Rose and Beau both play significant roles in this book, and I really enjoyed being in their head.

Another great read by one of my favourite authors.

Resurrection is the concept of coming back to life after death…

‘Whether I like it or not, I’m being resurrected.’

…soooooooo Danny Black aka The Brit has been resurrected in his fine glory and back with a monumental bang! In the Resurrection, we are not treated to two pov’s, but four! Yes Jodi has spoilt us big time with chapters from our four main characters and I felt this was a brilliant way of keeping the story going at full pace.

I definitely enjoyed the longer chapters from Danny and James in this book. I found in The Enigma that James was too much of…well an enigma. So in this book, we really get inside his head and what really makes him tick. He and Danny make an impressive team together.

Beau definitely grew on me more in this book after The Enigma. Her friendship with Rose felt very genuine and they were great allies together. Rose is just as feisty as ever and she really knows how to rile Danny Boy up. Their relationship is still equally passionate and toxic as ever.

‘I’m the only man in this world who can love her. Therefore, I’m the only man in this world who can hurt her.’

It was also the first time reading a Jodi book that I nearly threw my kindle lol but JEM made up for it with that epilogue…dun…dun…dun 😱

So to conclude, like with The Brit, The Resurrection always has something happening and is pretty epic. Expect lots of suspense, passion, brutal killings, laughter, and the constant suspicions of who is the frigging Bear!

Who is he?! 🐻

Wow
I’m not sure I have words to describe how I’m feeling. This series is intense but nothing could prepare me for book 3 The Resurrection. If you think Jodi Ellen Malpas doesn’t do dark, raw and gritty, think again because this book deserves every five star rating and I’m sure there are many us wishing we could give it more. I was intrigued as to where we would go with this book because we have met Danny Black and Rose Cassidy as well as James Kelly and Beau Hayley before and all I’m going to say is this book is one epic read that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
Danny and James are strong, formidable individuals but when they join forces to hunt down Bear, a man who is out to destroy them and their women they become unstoppable.
This is a story that will take over your life, it’s raw, it’s powerful and at times it’s violent but the banter and the friendships that this author weaves into this gritty tale takes this story to another level. Im so excited to hear this isn’t the end because I understand there is book 4 coming in the Unlawful Men Series.

Is it too early to start calling this the best book of the year? Cause it seriously is. It takes a genius to plot a story like this one, and Jodi has proven to be one once again. Cold and bloody, but romantic and hopeful at the same time. This is a dark romance unlike anything I've ever read and it's a pure masterpiece! Jodi is the master of writing absolutely unpredictable storylines that are full of suspense. Can´t wait for more!

My emotions are a bit all over the places right now. It's taken me 4 days to complete this book. It's big so bloody big. I love a big book as long as the plot is action packed and full, This book is so full. Reading this I feel like Jodi went in HARD. lol. She gave her readers what they wanted with this one.

Anyway.....
I obviously love Danny and James and my guy Brad. I’m still hoping Jodi writes Brad’s book. I picture him having a lot of fun with a lot of woman lol.

So this book has 4 pov, I thought it was great that Jodi wrote all four povs. Danny, James, Rose and Beau but out of all of them I loved James the most. He struggle to understand what Beau has gone through mentally. (Some men are just dumb fucks I swear lol.)
It was like she was made of glass and he was waiting for her to break, being there to pick up the pieces But imo she wasn’t. One of my favourite parts was when she became that person she once was. Loved that there story wasn’t straightforward, it made there story have elements of realness. They had real struggles compared to Danny and Rose.
I will say I found this book to be more men heavy, even though the woman had pov I didn't get lots from them mainly Rose maybe because I read The Brit a while ago and Beau was still very fresh in my head, well more fresh.

I found Danny to be top alpha in this book. Not that the other men weren’t but Danny personality came across much stronger than James. Which I actually prefer.
They are completely different men, living in the same world. Jodi wrote them perfectly. Jodi writes these men effortlessly.

“Miami isn’t ready for the both of us.”

They formed a bromance, the banter between them both was brilliant and even the banter between all the characters, I enjoy to a point. I’ll get to that.

Jodi has written a dark mafia story which has some bloody moments, some of the best sex I’ve read fire and some really funny moments between friends.

This book was heavy mafia. The plot is so full on and she’s not even done yet lol.

The reason for 4 ⭐️ is because I found the woman to annoyed me. They constantly refer to the men as killers, assassin and murders which obviously they are but it was like the woman said in a non serious way. Sometimes the men did it as well. I wish they were all a bit more serious. Don’t get me wrong I love to laugh and Jodi is hilarious with some of the things she put in this book but sometime I just thought WTH.
Also the names of the other guys in the book, dodo, the fox, the hound, There's a few more I just found to be strange and not funny.

Apart from those parts I loved the book. I love that Jodi has turned to the dark side she has done it so well and I hope she writes many more dark books.

I have to mention Goldie, Love her. I hope we get to know her more in the next book. I know she's a side character but I really liked what we have got so far.

“I just want to love you and feel that love back.”

Y’all this series is so good!! I loved the pacing of this story with the action, romance and steam! The interactions between Danny, James, Beau and Rose were gold! And I enjoying the smaller moments as well as the mafiaesque thrill ride! As with the other books, I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was the “good guys” and “bad guys”. I loved the continuation of the other two stories and the recurring supporting cast. I absolutely love these characters and JEM has me fully invested in this world! Can’t wait for more!

Oh my goodness me... I am in awe of Jodi Ellen Malpas!

I have absolutely devoured this book and it is oh so amazing! The suspence, the twists, the unexpected and the love... Just amazing!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who hasn't met The Brit or The Enigma!
In this book they join forces to confront The Bear. Do they succeed? Do they get their happy ever after?

Only one way to find out!
