My Arrogant Boss

Rate this book
Finn Weston is CEO of one of the hottest companies around and he’s every girls’ dream guy—every girl except me.

Ever since the day I tossed my champagne in his face at my best friend’s party, we’ve never gotten along. But, hey, it wasn’t like he didn’t deserve it.

After losing my job and being left with no choice but to find another, I came to the awful realization that my new position was to work for the infamous jerk, Finn.

I’ve despised this guy for months, even though he has the body of a god and a smile to die for—and, sure, he’s really easy on the eyes and there are moments when I want to climb him like a tree—but still, I loathe everything about him.

Finn has made it his mission to show me who’s really in charge, but in doing so we’re left with no choice but to get closer. And one night in a hotel is all it takes for my irritatingly hot boss to not seem so irritating to me anymore…

great office romance.

their first encounter wasn't the best and since then they can't stand each other, but now she's his assistant.

if you're looking for a kinda enemies-to-lovers romance with office romance and you want something short, give this one a try, you won't regret :)

This is a nice, quick, easy to read romance.

Kylie King is a new to me author and I really enjoyed her writing technique, the story was fast paced and it flowed really well. Finn and Rachel were likeable characters that didn't like each other. I loved their chemistry and the banter between them.
If I'm completely honest I would have loved to have seen more "hate" between these two. Their relationship developed quickly and I missed the build up and tension. I understand this is a short story but I wanted more. They went for 0 to a 100 in a very short period of time. Now don't get me wrong, I did enjoy their relationship.

Overall it was a very enjoyable read and I would definitely read Kylie's books in the future.

Thank you to the author and Grey promotions for a copy of this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Great short story.

Trent and Rachel are sworn enemies. They just can’t stand each other and the shock they both have when he finds out Rachel will be his new assistant is unbelievable. Yet both of them can’t deny the attraction they feel for one another.

It was a quick read filled with a lot of hotness. I enjoyed the book but not all of the actions of Trent. Still, it’s a great book.

This is part of the West Coast Billionaire Series by Kylie King but can be read as a standalone. You'll love Rachael and Finn's story as it's a great enemy to lovers romance. They definitely got off on the wrong foot and it didn't help things when she threw a glass of champagne in his face. They're forced to be together when her best friend marries his best friend. Then fate brings them together when she ends up as his assistant. Their chemistry is off the charts but their relationship is overflowing with angst, drama and tension from his 'ex' girlfriend and her antics. A cute story that is a quick, easy read that you will enjoy. No cliffhanger and an HEA. I read an arc copy via Grey's promotions and voluntarily chose to write a review.

"My Arrogant Boss" was a fast-paced, steamy novella featuring an enemies-to-lovers romance between billionaire coffee company CEO Finn Weston and Rachel Quinn, a recently unemployed publicist who became Finn's new executive assistant. Work wasn't the only connection between them; they'd actually met months earlier when their respective best friends Aaron and Katie got engaged and asked Finn and Rachel to be part of the wedding party. They'd been enemies ever since that disastrous first meeting, and when she first learned the identity of her new employer, Rachel was convinced that they could never work together. However, her desperation for a paycheck took precedence over all other considerations, so she was forced to give it a try.

The beginning of the story was cute and funny, and I enjoyed the obvious chemistry between Rachel and Finn as well as the fact that Rachel tried so hard to push control freak Finn out of his comfort zone. As the story progressed, however, I started to wish that Rachel and Finn's characters were a bit better developed. For example, why exactly was Finn such a control freak? Also, did Rachel grow up in Los Angeles and is that why she decided to move back there after she lost her job in New York? Where was her family, particularly her parents? She had a couple of conversations with her older sister Pam, but I got the impression that Pam lived in a different city. These details bothered me because I couldn't figure out why Rachel was so dependent on her best friend Katie for financial support, namely a place to stay.

I also found myself growing increasingly annoyed with Finn's behavior and treatment of Rachel. He was in a fake relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Ariel, so that Ariel's father would continue to invest in his coffee company. At the same time, he kept pushing Rachel to be with him and even said he loved her, while acknowledging that he had no plans to call things off with Ariel for at least a couple of months. What exactly was Finn's plan? Was he going to sneak around with Rachel until he was finished using Ariel and her father for their money? That doesn't seem like love to me. It seems like he wanted to have his cake and eat it too.

Overall, I had a tough time coming up with a final rating and recommendation for "My Arrogant Boss" because while I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either. It's a light, quick, and steamy story, but ultimately not particularly memorable for me. I would still give the next one in the series a try.

I received an ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest and fair review.

This novella is a cute, quick-burn, enemies-to-lovers contemporary workplace romance with a dash of forced proximity and miscommunication thrown into the mix.

Rachel Quinn and Finn Weston are the epitome of two people who really seem to take to heart that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. After a pretty disastrous first meeting due to the fact that their respective best friends are seeing one another, the course seems set on these two just trying to be civil on the rare chances they're put in the same room with one another.

Some years later, after their best friends are married and Rachel's PR company goes under, she finds herself now in Los Angeles and in need of a job... like now. She applies for an executive assistant job at a coffee company, not knowing the CEO is... Finn Weston.

To both of their surprises, they work well together. But Finn Weston is a control freak and Rachel Quinn has trust issues. Neither one of them can deny the chemistry that just won't stop sparking between them, though. And, well, traveling with the boss and staying late in the office with him is part of Rachel's job description...

Finn Weston is cunning, manipulative, and ambitious, but that's not all of who he is or who he wants to be. Ms. King writes of his drive and manipulations as a means to an end and not as a way he wants to live out his entire life. Some of the ways in which he handles matters aren't exactly the most flattering to his character, but they're not irredeemable flaws. I actually did like him as a character.

Rachel Quinn is a character I wish could have been given a little more dimension, but I also thought she was interesting and I liked how she tried to push Finn outside his comfort zone again and again, challenging him to break out of his routines.

The book does have that enemies-to-lovers hook that you know and love if you're a fan of the trope, and it's a bitter hook. Ms. King did well to let that hook sink in and simmer for a bit, even if this is a novella and a quicker burn than most enemies-to-lovers stories. And the back half of the story does become very sweet and almost fluffy toward the end.

I'd say that if you're looking for a cute, fast read with some mild spice and a bitter feud with a sprinkling of forced proximity, then this just might be the book for you!

My Arrogant Boss is a short little enemies to lovers/workplace romance by Kylie King. This was my first book from Kylie and I'm a little mixed with how I feel about it.

Finn and Rachel absolutely cannot stand each other but are often thrust together when their best friends are engaged and then later married. A while later, Rachel has lost her PR job and after coming up empty on finding another PR job she starts looking at executive assistant positions. Which is how she finds herself working for Finn. They agree to start over for the sake of their working relationship and their friends- and they quickly realize that when they don't hate each other they are actually perfect for each other.

I really liked this book- the storyline was good, the characters were pretty well developed and presented. The banter between Finn and Rachel was fun and witty and at times ridiculous and petty depending on their moods. Kylie packed some heat in these pages too. Yes, it is short- I started and finished this book in about 2 hours including a couple stop breaks- which created a quick paced story for Finn and Rachel. They had to hate each other, tolerate, lust and more all within a short amount of pages. I think my main grievance with the book is I didn't really get to feel them actually fall in love and it just kind of popped up out of nowhere. They basically went from mortal enemies to declarations of love within a few days or weeks? I'm not against time jumps- yeah I wish we got all the stuff in between but they are understandable at times and I kind of feel like this story would have benefited from having a time jump in the middle just so that we at least get the illusion that more time has been spent between Finn and Rachel making their declaration a little more plausible.

Fitting everything in a short story is hard and while the timeline thing was bothersome to me, I know that is a me issue and not everyone will feel the same. Overall I did still enjoy this book and it was nice to have a quick little book to read and enjoy.

Their first meeting didn't set them off on the right foot, it actually ended with Finn wearing Rachel's drink and Rachel walking away with a deep dislike for the man everyone loves. But now they are about to be reunited, under different circumstances of course, as Finn is now Rachel's new boss. She isn't so sure working for the enemy is a good idea... but desperate times call for desperate measures!

Between the pages of this steamy and mildly tense little page-turner enemies reunite solely for the purpose of business, but find that they are meant for much more. But first they must get over their hate for one another! When Rachel comes to work for Finn she knows she is traveling on dangerous ground, especially after their first meeting, but she needs a job so she's willing to take her chances. They push each other's buttons, test boundaries, and ogle one another when the other is not looking. It's tough to hate the enemy when their so easy of the eyes!!

I really enjoyed this steamy office romance, it brought laughs, swoons, and heart-squeezes throughout! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Oh, Finn. What a jerk on the surface. And he’s determined to remain a jerk to Rachel…until he can’t any longer. Because eventually, all that resentment and anger cracks just enough to show the desire begging to break free. And the same goes for Rachel. She wants to be disgusted and angry, but sometimes she isn’t capable of keeping it up. It’s exhausting hating a man she may very well want, not that she’ll admit it. So when the sparks fly and ignite, it’s fabulous until it all burns to ash. Then Finn has to figure out his real end game, and Rachel has to decide if he’s worth trusting.

I enjoyed the push and pull between these two. Sure, there was some serious animosity, but they were never outright cruel and awful to each other. Petty? Absolutely. But sometime, that pettiness is coming out to play because other emotions aren’t allowed to. And boy, were there other emotions waiting here! I liked how they both had to grow and trust and ease up a bit on their own insecurities before they could be truly happy and I’d love to see more from this author in the future.

Maybe it's not the way to write reviews and this will get me blacklisted or something but I just have to start this by saying I totally think King writes from a man's perspective. This was my first King novel so I can't say it for every story, but this one is very much male-oriented enjoyment. Maybe it's because I'm a female and I want to read a story where the female's world is being rocked, just as much as the guys, in the steamy parts, but I think Rachel only had one sentence where she was having a blast..lol...versus really only hearing about Finn's rocking explosions...so it just felt weird to me. I love male POV for sure and don't mind when it's a balanced experience, but this just wasn't. When you throw in the insta hate/love, a fake relationship that didn't make any sense outside of greed, and not-so-fluid banter it's just an ok read for me. I have looked over King's other reviews and feel like I'm in the minority, so I'm going to give her another go and see if maybe it was just Finn's character that caused this style of steamy scenes.

Finn and Quinn - You'd think they would be a match made in heaven. They're not.

They can't stand each other.

I think what I enjoyed the most about this book was that it was really light hearted. There's definitely drama and awkward situations, but they border more on funny rather than terrifying. Rachel Quinn is attending her best friend's engagement party. However, she spends a sleepless night in the hotel listening to the people next door. It's okay. It's only one night. I love how Rachel is as cool as a cucumber. She doesn't let anything phase her. If she were real, she'd be a cross between your best friend/ partner in crime or ride or die.

Finn Weston is all about living his best life regardless of the consequences. I am not sure I would personally date him, but you can definitely tell he's a ladies man. He can't understand why Rachel Quinn ignores him at all cost until he sees a group text. Instead of laughing it off, he makes a mess of what was just a misunderstanding. If you love a decent grovel, stick around as these two are on a colliding crash course.

Finn and Rachel, goodness these two are enemies at first. Rachel has had enough of Finn at her best friend’s party, so she throws some champagne in his face. Their best friends are together which brings them together. Finn hires her to help him out with some PR for his business. They have no love lost between the two of them as they try and work together. The hostility is so funny that you can see the fire between the words on the pages. They want to hate each other, but when you work so closely together, and chemistry is there you don’t stand a chance to survive the heat.

I wanted to hate Finn for how he dealt with things, especially the way Rachel was treated, but you knew he was doing what he could for his business. Rachel was so head strong, and she wanted to hate Finn but was so attracted to him. I loved the banter between all the characters. This book was beautifully written. It is lighthearted and fun with some push and pull because no love story is easy.

This was a quick and sweet read. Two people who loathe each other but their best friends are married now find them selves in a bastion where he is her boss. They have always had a lingering attraction to each other but it was always drowned out by the hate.

Finn Weston, Is sweet but brutal and doesn’t know how to handle his emotions and seems to think in the same nature as most gas where as he doesn’t always know the right things to say or do. I mean come on, a fake relationship? Get out of it while you can. While I do understand why he did it.

Rachel seems to be down to earth and have her head screwed on tightly. She was in a tight spot and needed a job. I would have taken it also. I also loved the way she approached the whole thing, especially when she told him she wouldn’t apologize because she wouldn’t mean it, YES GIRL.

This book was well wrote and straight to the point.

This is the 1st in a new series and is Finn and Rachel’s story. These two are like petrol and a match, and when they are at a party for their friends’ engagement party, Rachel throws a glass of champagne in his face. Finn is the CEO of a successful company, and when Rachel loses her job, she has no choice but to work as his assistance, and they mutually agree to make amends and start getting along together. These two dances around their feeling for each other until the chemistry between them is undeniable, and they realize there is a fine line between hate/ love. This is a well written story which is light-hearted, and with emotions, animosity, trust, drama, humor, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

3.75 stars for this short and steamy read.

Rachel and Finn despise one another though they “try” to get along for their friends (his best friend and her best friend are getting married), but it’s HARD. While they are always getting under one another’s skin, there is still that definite pull of attraction, but the hatred is stronger.

Months later, Rachel is in the midst of a job search. When she starts her new job as a PA, she is stunned and stops in her tracks because her new boss is none other than Finn…

Everything takes a major turn when a truce is agreed upon and the two actually start to get along. But the past comes back to buy them just as they start to get to a really good place.

This was short, but still had enough of a story that I didn’t feel like I was missing a bunch of information. And the push and pull between Rachel and Finn was pretty hot.

This was a good, quick read. Finn comes across as a jerk but deep down he is anything but. Rachel and Finn have some great banter. They both were clearly attracted to each other from the beginning.

The story did feel a little rushed though. I don't know if I fully understood why exactly Finn was keeping up the charade with Ariel. And I don't know if I bought into how fast they said they loved each other. There was so much focus on the hating each other part that the actual relationship part was really skipped over. I would've loved more of them being together.

Overall though it was a good book.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

While this book was seriously entertaining and had its moments the overall story felt rushed. Finn and Rachel had a great set up, friends of theirs got together and now they’re forced to be around each other. Finn screwed up, was a total jerk, and Rachel never forgave him. Fast forward to now when Rachel needs a job and applies for one at random only to find out it’s perfect in every way except her new boss is…. you guessed it, Finn!

I really liked the story premise but I felt no attachment to these characters. We breezed through their pasts and their problems easily. The climax was also sort of anticlimactic. I liked the language used, it felt very realistic.

Overall it was cute and if you’re looking for a quick love story, this is the book for you!

There is a fine line between love and hate. Finn and Rachel have proven that. Ever since the champagne incident it is safe to say they do not like each other. She is working as his assistant now and they agree they will try to get along. Let the past be the past. Deep down they both are attracted to each other but will not admit it. It is fun to watch them toe the line and not cross it. But what happens when lines are blurred.
This is the first book that I have read by Kylie King and I know it will not be my last. If looking for a quick, enjoyable, and fun read look no further. The characters are funny and witty. Looking forward to what will come next.

Now, this is an ARC.
I try to be honest with every book I read, and let me tell you I laughed way too much and that’s not a good thing when the book is not a romantic comedy, or a comedy.
Now, i get it, the timeline in the book was actually pretty fast but damn! I don’t mind a fast paced book. Even with missing timeframes, but this one has me laughing for a couple of minutes.
They professed their love after a couple of chapters , and I didn’t even seen them actually falling In love for me to see them fall inlove!
If any, this book was a second chance almost type of book. Not an actual enemies to lovers.

What a fun quick read this was! Finn is a business man who loves what he does. When his best friend gets married he is more than happy to be his best man. Rachel hates the best man in her best friends wedding. These two can not get along at all. When Rachel needs a new job and finds one the last thing she was expecting was that Finn would be her new boss. Wow did these two turn hate into lust pretty quickly. Not only did they have great chemistry but they had great quick banter that had me laughing. I really Enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

Imagine having to work for the one person you despise. Well that is exactly what Rachel has to do.
I really enjoyed this book so I was very extremely lucky to get an ARC. I loved the back and forth between Rachel and Finn it was so entertaining. These two say they hate each other but the truth is they have this extreme sexual tension that is so extremely sizzling. I loved how they both had to put their egos aside so they could really see what they could be together. They both had to grow a bit and learn to trust so they could both get the outcome they wanted.

I liked My Arrogant Boss I read a few books by Kylie King and I enjoyed them along with this one . I liked the characters they did frustrate me with how they handled things but over all I loved the end result . This is a short easy office romance that will have you wanting the couple to have a happy ending . The chemistry between the couple was off the charts I liked how they tried to fight the attraction but they just couldn't stop themselves from falling . I can't wait to read more by Kylie king and I hope to see these characters in the future .

Finn and Rachel are enemies, imagine their shock when they both find out that Rachel is now Finn's assistant. Sparks start to fly and they're instant attraction comes to a head. Can these two continue to hate each other or will they let their fire burn?

This was a great short story. If you're looking for something light yet hot, then look no further! My Arrogant Boss is the book you're looking for. This was my first book by Kylie King and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to her next story about Finn's friend Jake.

If you want a quick read that sucks you right in, this would be it!

Kylie King is a new author to me but I loved My Arrogant Boss! There is nothing better then a steamy office romance that didn't start out so friendly from the first meeting. But Finn and Rachel had chemistry and were characters everyone wanted to cheer for throughout this book.

I would definitely recommend this book and can't wait to read more from Kylie King.

I was definitely intrigued by the story because of the blurb. It was a great quick enemies to lovers, office romance between Finn and Rachel. Their first met didn't go as well and that creates animosity between them. Not just animosity but they also have chemistry. So because of that their banter is pretty intense and interesting. The back and forth, and push and pull between them will also pull you in and have you hooked.

Such a fun book. Cam and Finn are such fun characters. I love that they are literally at each other’s throats from the jump but it’s really just lots of pent up attraction. They do turn out to be such a good couple. She is s good match for him. She is spunky, love her personality. Can not wait for Jake’s book.
