A Stop in Time

Rate this book
I've been an outcast my whole life. If my scars don't scare people away, my attitude certainly will. I don't know what I am or how I got the power to stop time. What I do know is, there are far too many questions I need answers to. When I cross paths with a local gang member, his presence unravels a part of my past I never knew existed. At every turn, danger leaps closer, and I realize that stopping the killer will mean losing everything--including the first man I've ever loved. But I should've known better. We were never meant to be anything more than a brief stop in time.

ღ 𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 ღ Is a full length paranormal romance book by R.C. Boldt. Spoken in third person POV's. HIM: The invisible man HERO: Daniel Madrano HEROINE: Mackenzie (Mac) Ford.

Seeing the cover and teasers making the rounds on social media sites had me signing up in a heartbeat. This book pulled me in straight away and still held me in its grasp until the very last page.
I enjoyed this so much, the giggles just erupted so freely and yet again cemented why I love this author as much as I do. These two were perfection, their light hearted banter, their connection just had me devouring this.

Mac has been an outcast her whole life, scars mar her on the left side of her body, from top to bottom, she's covered the bulk of it ink to disguise the worst of it other than the one of her face. Mac has a unique ability to stop time, a perfect escape when in sticky situations. She's been suffering from debilitating migraines, blackout episodes, and has gaps in her memory. She's self taught herself the ins and outs of car maintenance, building engines and restoring them which led her to buying a salvage yard which is her passion.

'𝑨 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔?

Daniel or Danny as she calls him is on a path to seek vengeance for his sister's death, even though it had been many years since the day she'd up and left him with a violent stepfather she was still his blood. Her last words led him to Mac's door step.

He's also the second in command of 'The Scorpions' a notorious gang.

Outstanding book!!!!!! R.C. Boldt is a phenomenal writer and storyteller!!! I've been done with this book for a couple of days afraid of running my mouth too much!!😂 If you follow me and read my reviews you know I can go on and on about a book I've loved and this book is no exception! But believe you me, you do need to read A Stop in Time. The lead female Mac is one of my top favorite characters of all time! She's tough, smart out spoken and snarky as fuck!!! You'd be advised not to dick with her! Because she has bigger balls then most guys! And she's complexed as hell ! But if your lucky you also see that she hides a innocence and vulnerability that she keeps deep inside. Not only does she bare scars on her face and body but also her soul. And the way she's treated by most of locals is heartbreaking. A couple of times I actually shut down my kindle because of so many emotional scenes! This book has angst and soul wrenching pain that I felt like I needed to protect Mac from all the assholes that surrounded her but then in walks Daniel Madrano looking for information about the person that killed his sister. And the mysterious invisible man Jonah points him to Mac as having the answers he needs. Daniel is the second in command to Bronson Cortez the leader of one of the most feared gangs and theirs a reason why he's his right hand. Daniel is excellent at getting info and knowing when some one is lying and he's very good at eliminating loose ends. When he meets Mac he doesn't see a freak with scars! All he sees is a beautiful woman with amazing ink tattoos of clock faces and a personality and mouth that makes him instantly hard! The sexual chemistry and playful banter had me smiling from ear to ear and had me falling totally in lust with this hot sexy gang banger!!! He's not bullshitting about his bedroom skills either! And his dirty talking and good fucking was pure nirvana and lets just say that Mac wasn't the only one constantly wet!😂 This is full of twists and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Without giving too much away I will just say that theirs a lot of different elements going on and yes this book has true evil involved and it looks like between Mac and Daniel looking for answers to who killed his sister theirs also a serial killer who's body count just keeps climbing. And Mac's blackouts are getting worse and her nightmares not stopping. And just when you think you got it figured it Bam! leads you down the rabbit hole and the truth is even more horrible then you can imagine. Thank you R.C.Boldt and ValentinePr for this early copy!!! If you love romantic thrills with just a touch of the unusual and some pretty damn good steamy sex. Check it out! Guaranteed you will be thanking me for this book recommendation! Until next time Luv's💕💋

OUT NOW!!!😉

Damn him. No man has ever made me want to punch him in the junk while simultaneously turning me on.

I have been obsessed with RC Boldt's romantic suspense for years. There's just something about her stories that immediately grab me and suck me right in. But this new world that she created that combines a spark of paranormal with the suspense? I cannot get enough.

While this book shows to be a standalone (and it is), you'd do yourself a favor by reading Beyond My Darkness first. While each book is a standalone, they are set in the same world, and you get the introduction to each character throughout the series. We get introduced to Daniel Madrano in Beyond My Darkness as a secondary character, best friend and second in command to the notorious leader of the gang, Scorpions. We also get a sneak peek into the beginning of his journey at the end.
I’m not gonna sugarcoat this for you; I’m losing my patience with you, Danny.”
The edges of his mouth twitch. “It’s Daniel.”

When Daniel's sister gets violently murdered, he's left desperate for answers and vengeance. The final words shared with him through the help of his friend's woman who speaks with the dead helps guide him in a vague direction with nothing but a name...Mac.

The way this book is written reminded me a bit of the movie Memento. Not in the way that it goes backwards, but there's a vein of intrigue there that I also felt with the movie. Mac suffers black out episodes where she wakes not remembering anything that happened. She's left deeply scarred from a traumatic event that skirts the edges of her memory, but never making themselves knows. She finds mysterious notes that hint at the truth and written in her own handwriting but she has no idea what it means. Desperate for answers of her own, she undergoes hypnosis therapy in her search for answers. But the answers are more troubling than she suspects.

Suddenly, Daniel ends up at her door with questions that she doesn't have answers to. But something about him draws her in. Mac is not a woman that wants a relationship, and Daniel has never sought one out himself. And yet they're drawn to each other like moths to a flame. But neither of them are prepared for the incendiary flame that the truth will bring.

I binge read this book as desperate for answers as these characters. It was magnetic, suspenseful, mysterious, and completely captivating. You know those books that seem to be like a movie reel behind your eyes as you read them? This was definitely it. Spine tingling good and unputdownable. Everything about it worked; the story, the romance, the chemistry, the mystery, and the jaw dropping ending. I was a woman obsessed. Now I'm desperately hoping we get a mysterious someone's book next because OH MY GOD!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: romantic suspense, paranormal twist
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

"...𝘐'𝘮 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. 𝘏𝘦'𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩, 𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘐 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘯𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭."

Seriously one of my favorite reads of 2023! Mackenzie Ford is just plugging along at life. Keeping her head down, using her smart mouth to keep the assholes away, and trying not to be noticed, which tends to be hard to do when half your body is covered in scars. She definitely doesn't want anyone to learn about her ability to freeze time - it's bad enough she's having major blackouts and feelings like someone is watching her. Enter Daniel Madrano. Second in command of a notorious gang, hot AF, and looking for information about his dead sister. He wants to believe that Mac had nothing to do with her disappearance, but whispered words of the dead don't tend to lie.

"𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 ... 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶? 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘯-𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘦𝘥 𝘉𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘺."

I just can't convey how much I love this book! A crazy, intense ride from page one with a storyline that is both interesting and original. Well written with tons of witty dialogue. Mac's smart ass mouth had me cracking up over and over again. Tons of action and twists and turns that had you gripped from until the last page. The chemistry between Mac and Daniel is literally electric at times and the smexy times between them were super hot. I loved both MCs and became fully invested in their story and happiness. I also appreciated how when Daniel messes up, Mac didn't just roll over and forgive him and made him work for it, lol.

"𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵. 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯' 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵. 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘥𝘦 𝘐 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘺 𝘣𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘯."

A Stop in Time is told in first person, told from multiple perspectives. It is a standalone, but I think best appreciated when read after Beyond My Darkness. It's in the same world and I was nervous it wouldn't be able to meet the intensity level, but my fears were for nothing. RC Boldt definitely delivered!

Even though this was a good idea for a book, the memory loss plot line and scientific mind control experimentation, which was a unique idea, I unfortunately couldn’t get into this book at all. I couldn’t get into the main characters relationship as I felt like the relationship building and character descriptions were very lack lustre. I felt nothing really between them, and the story didn’t suck me in at all, I didn’t form any attachments to the characters, so I didn’t care at all what happened to them.

Whilst the writing wasn’t terrible, something was really missing here, it definitely wasn’t for me and I read this quickly to finish. I hope I find a good read soon!

I will be honest. I wasn't sure if this book will cover my expectations from Beyond my Darkness. Well...it totally did. Daniel Madrano finally found his true soulmate.

As Bronson second in command, I didn't know if the relationship with his future love will be as explosive as Georgia and Bronson. Daniel doesn't have the normal job every person on the planet has. No, no, no. His job is definitely not normal. And it led him to a search for his sister killer. It led him to Mac.

I do admit, this whole book was a rollercoaster for me. Every time I went to a new page, I had the feeling that there was something underneath all of this. The story was everywhere. There were twists and turns in every corner and none of it could prepare me for the truth. This was explosive. I honestly couldn't predict it better. But all of that made me love the book even more.

Same as Georgia, Mac has some abilities as well, which are quite interesting. But I will leave you to read the book to find out 🤫.

As a couple Daniel and Mac were perfect for each other. They both carried scars, some visible, some invisible. And of course both of them tried denying the connection that was pulling them towards each other. The heat between them was...OMG...even better on some occasions comparing them to Bronson and Georgia. The smut, the fire... It was consuming 🔥🔥🔥.

And the Epilogue was soo soo good. Almost made me wish that I want to have that life ♥️.

I am sensing that there will be another book coming out at some point. After all, we have a couple of people that I definitely need to see their stories ♥️♥️♥️.

I am soo happy that I had the chance to read Daniel and Mac's story.

Tropes: antihero; memory-lapses; enemies to lovers; revenge; multicultural; tragic past; supernatural powers

Review:

“It’s ironic that the person with the power to stop time wishes she had more of it.”

While Daniel is seeking revenge for his sister passing, he crosses path with Mac, a mysterious woman with the power of stopping time. There is a lot of mysteries to be uncovered in this plot, mainly for Mac’s part. She has memory lapses and doesn’t remember some events in her life. While Daniel seeks revenge, Mac wants to discover what of her life she is missing.

The story in this book kept me in the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn’t wait to discover what was really happening. The chemistry between the MCs was also off the charts (Daniel is a really talented dirty-talker). Both MCs have some annoying characters traits, however, they are also incredibly interesting and complex people. I guess the best quality in the both of them is their resilience and strength to move on even after life putting serious challenges in their paths.

I really liked Georgia and Bronson story and it was also great to see them again. I hope we get Steve’s story next.

GAHHH!! All the STARS!! Once again RC Boldt has blown me away! She writes my favorite Heroines & Heroes! Every Time!

Seriously, close up this non-spoilery review, don’t read the blurb, just go into this book totally blind! Go Now! And grab a book bestie and buddy read it together. You need someone to talk to throughout the entire thing. That’s exactly what I did & it was the most fun I’ve had buddy reading.

I would have finished this delicious book in one sitting if Life didn’t get in the way. I didn’t want to put it down. Edge of my seat, completely RIVETED!!

It’s a beautifully crafted mystery & suspense w/ a touch of supernatural. It’s sexy with the wittiest banter (I need to read RC’s backlist of RomComs cuz she’s funny af!). The sexual tension & chemistry are OFF THE CHARTS! Daniel & Mac are 🔥🔥🔥 together!!

My favorite books are ones with strong badass heroines who can save themselves and bring men to their knees. This is Mackenzie 💯!! And gimme a broken but bad motherf*cking hero who will wipe out anyone & everyone for messing w/ his loved ones. Don’t forget to add in dirty talker, too, cuz holy hellooo Daniel set my book on FIRRRRE!!

Bottom line:
•Go in Blind
•Grab a Book Bestie to Buddy Read
•Clear your Schedule for uninterrupted reading
•Have a moisture picker upper handy for drool & other things.
•Consider reading Beyond My Darkness first because it’s character-connected, but it’s not a necessity.
•Don’t forget to thank RC Boldt for rocking your world. Again.

THANK YOU, RC, for this SPECTACULAR FANFREAKINGTASTIC READ!

I'm continuing my trend with the memory-addled heroine.

So, our female lead here, Mac, has the ability to stop time whenever she wants. With it, she also has these huge gaps in her memories and now currently working as a mechanic in a small town. Daniel, on the other hand, was searching for her sister's killer and clues brought him to Mac.

What started as this unconventional partnership between two unattached people turned into... something that you usually got in a movie. I mean, maybe it was my state of mind at the moment because I totally didn't figure out the twist there. It was obvious. I'll bet you'll figure it out too from the brief summary I just told you.

I guess, the plot aside, it was fine. The cast of these people with supernatural powers is actually awesome. I didn't realize this book was related to Beyond My Darkness. Probably should read that one out soon.

Yikes I'm babbling. What I want to say is that it started pretty much amazing but when the revelation started trickling in, I didn't get so impressed with it. It's probably just me eh.

I haven't read all of R.C. Boldt's books, but let me tell you that her romantic suspense stories are some of my very favorites. If I know that's what she's writing, I go in blind and thoroughly enjoy the journey she takes me on. She always creates worlds that I'm excited to enter simply because her heroines are strong and take no shit. They aren't looking to be rescued, rather they are there to find answers and take down anyone that gets in their way. Maybe a bit of an anti-hero, if you will? Just trust me when I say that A Stop in Time was no different. It's a unique story that had a touch of supernatural which added to my overall enjoyment of the book.

Mac is a woman that is basically an outcast of her town. She is scarred, tough as nails, and knows her way around cars. She keeps to herself, but has questions about who she is and what she does at night since she can never remember when she wakes up. When Daniel comes to town looking for a man named Mac that knows about his sister's death, he gets something unexpected. A striking woman that is sarcastic and has no answers. Daniel needs those answers, but does he need this woman more??

Mac and Daniel had this primal energy about them. Their bodies communicated in ways they couldn't. But they sure could banter. I laughed every time Mac referred to Daniel as Danny and the way he played into the game. He also just wanted to take care of this woman, but they both seemed to want to help one another, especially after Daniel witnessed something Mac can do and perhaps use that to his advantage to finding answers about his sister.

I frickin loved this storyline and the building mystery/suspense. The way the characters developed and put together pieces to solve the mysteries they were looking into was nothing short of magic. The storyline mixed with the growing attraction between Mac and Daniel was the perfect balance for this romantic suspense. I loved the characters. I loved the banter. I loved how the heroine was so kicka$$ but also broken. And I loved that the hero could be brought to his knees for a woman that he thought was there to give him answers.

A Stop in Time is a very unique story that will keep you glued to the pages from beginning to end. There were twists and definitely some blood shed along the way that will keep your interests piqued and wonder what is to come for the characters.
Definitely check this book out if you enjoy romantic suspense. I highly recommend it!

I typically don’t read paranormal/fantasy romance however, RC Boldt is one of my favorite authors and because I love her books so much, I took a chance on A Stop In Time. I’m glad I did considering that I love this book SO much!!

Mackenzie aka Mac Ford has the unique ability to stop time and ever since she made the discovery, it’s a secret that she’s kept to herself. She’s a bit of an outcast in her small town, she’s very guarded and that’s the way she likes it. Unfortunately, she doesn’t remember how she got this ability and she’s struggling to search her memory for answers. Daniel Madrano is on a mission to find information about the recent death of a relative and while doing so, he crosses path with Mac. There are immediate sparks and chemistry between them and although Daniel is a strong alpha male, Mac is the perfect match for him with her feisty attitude and witty dialogue. She definitely gives as much as she gets. They are also one hell of a sexy and sizzling match in the bedroom.

The common theme here is, Daniel and Mac are searching for answers that could lead to their detriment. And let me tell you, once those questions are answered, they are quite powerful and shocking.

This storyline is well written, consistent and heavy with suspense, mystery, twists and turns and that seriously kept me on edge. I was fully engaged in this book and each chapter had me begging for more. Although this book has paranormal/fantasy elements, it also has a perfect balance of romance, angst, tension and steamy sex. Once again, RC Boldt has blown me away with her creativity and A Stop In Time is a five star book that I definitely recommend reading.

Mackenzie “Mac” Ford has a dark past and an even darker secret. Although she suffers from memory loss due to traumatic events, she lives her life as an outcast.

Daniel Madrano, #2 man to The Scorpions leader Bronson Cortez, is determined to find out who murdered his sister. With the help of Bronson’s wife Georgia, he has a name: “Mac.” On a mission for vengeance, he will stop at nothing to bring his sister’s killer to light. But what he finds will ultimately change his life.

5 outstanding stars!!! RC Boldt always writes such amazing female characters, and Mac is no different. She’s a survivor through and through. RC Boldt is also a master when it comes to the twist and turns she sends her readers on, and this book did not disappoint. I loved seeing a softer side to Daniel. I loved everything about Mac. What an amazing book and truly a must read! This book literally has everything! A strong female main character, hot alpha male, tension of the good kind, and a wild ride with crazy twists, and an epic ending.

“I know what love is now. It means you’ll do whatever it takes to make that person’s life easier—even if it means not being part of it.”

A Stop In Time by RC Boldt

READ THIS IF YOU LIKE: paranormal | suspense | multiple povs | short chapters | found family | crime gang | revenge | small town | superpowers

A perfect mix of paranormal and romantic suspense, this book will have you to sucked in from page one.

We have Mac who is the outcast of this small town and keeps to herself because no one wants anything with the girl who has scars. Then we have Daniel who is the second in command of a notorious gang, who is looking for the murderer of his sister. Which leads Daniel to Mac.

I love the sass that Mac gives everyone and the banter between her and Daniel, had me laughing so hard. The story keeps you on your toes, wanting to know who is who and what is going on until the very end. The two main character were perfect individually and together, I mean we do love a good dirty talking hero (don’t we *wink wink*).

Now I didn’t read Beyond My Darkness, while I don’t feel like I missed anything, I do wonder that if I did I would have gotten a bigger picture of the storylines if I did.

This is hard because on one hand I enjoyed aspects of the storyline, the hs abilities, and the relation to Beyond My Darkness (which I loved) but there were a lot of things about the execution that just didn’t work for me. There’s just a lot going on that made it choppy. It’s dual POV, memory POVs, news article and segment POVs, and even a H POV. It was a lot and the flow was messed up because of it. The mystery in the other book was intriguing and well done and here it was just too obvious so it had no real suspense aside from some of the action scenes. I did like the H though and the two of them were really hot together.

This is the second book in this amazing unique series . I can’t get enough and I’m begging the author to write more.

Daniel Madrano is the second in command of the Scorpions. Looking for answers to his sisters death leads him to a intriguing woman.

“You heard the man. Wouldn’t want me to die without the experience of dancin’ with you, would you?”

Mackenzie Ford is a loner. The circumstances of her life have made her dead set against anything more that a one night stand.

“Like I somehow know you, even though we’ve never met before.” A beat of silence hangs for a moment. “Like I can’t get enough of this”—she tightens her hold on me—“of you.”

Daniel is persistent and sexy as sin. Tough as nails gang member.

Somewhere along the way, this mysterious spitfire of a woman became my weakness.

Mac is a snarky and take no crap independent woman.

Life. It’s so utterly precious, because we can never experience the same thing twice. It’s why I needed to do this and bask in it. Because once it passes, I’ll never have the chance to relive it.

Not at all what I was expecting and that doesn’t happen often. If you up for a different read grab this one now.

4.25 stars- A STOP IN TIME by RC Boldt is a contemporary, adult, paranormal, romantic suspense story set in the same world as Beyond My Darkness. This is Scorpion MC member Daniel Madrano, and mechanic Mackenzie Ford’s story line. A STOP IN TIME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several first person perspectives including Daniel and Mackenzie A STOP IN TIME follows Daniel Madrano as he searches for the person who killed his sister. With the help of necromancer Georgia Danvers (Beyond My Darkness #1) Daniel believes the killer is within his reach but with only a two first names to aid in his search, Daniel finds himself in Mandarin Springs, Florida where he will come face to face with his future in the guise of mechanic Mackenzie Ford. Mackenzie Ford is a young woman, hopelessly scarred inside and out, and as such is often ridiculed by the people in the town where she currently lives but Mac has a secret-she has the ability to stop time- and this secret is about to reveal a path of no return. As Daniel is pulled into the world that is Mackenzie Ford, a serial killer is taking aim at Mandarin Springs, and our couple may be too deeply connected to see the truth about what is happening and why. What ensues is the building relationship between Mackenzie and Daniel, and the potential fall-out when the truth reveals betrayal and madness at every turn.

Daniel Madrano is desperate to avenge the death of the sister he barely knows. Having endured years of abuse at the hands of their father, Daniel’s sister escaped, promising to return, but Daniel quickly discovered he would always be on his own. Mackenzie Ford lost everything the day she was nearly burned alive in a fire but amnesia, and the ongoing blackouts find Mackenzie struggling to make sense of what happened and why until a slow awakening revealed a much more sinister darkness controlling her life.

The relationship between Daniel and Mackenzie begins as Daniel searches for a killer, a killer he only knows as Mack. Falling for Mackenzie Ford means quite possibly falling for a killer but a woman who is unable to explain the events of her life including her ability to stop time with a snap. As Daniel and Mackenzie’s relationship builds, the truth will destroy any hopes of a future for our story line couple. The $ex scenes are erotic and passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters include Mackenzie’s doctor and his assistant,a doctor who claims to be aiding Mackenzie in her search for the truth; Jonah, the invisible man; Mackenzie’s assistant Annalee Whitaker; café owner Mammy; Scorpion MC member Steve; as well as the return of Scorpion MC President Bronson Cortez, and morgue assistant/necromancer Georgie Danvers. The requisite evil has many faces.

A STOP IN TIME is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control; madness and murder; acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is intriguing, dramatic and intense; the romance is seductive; the characters are broken, lost, desperate and determined.

What a mind trip!! Boldt's romantic intrigue and supernatural mashup plots are insanely good and A Stop In Time flipped me upside down with all of the mind blowing moments.

I love entering the worlds that Boldt has created in the past few years, the heroines are bold, bright, and completely kickass. She writes these take charge women who never wait to be rescued, but instead, by the pure definition alone, should be the hero, but each of these books run in the morally gray area...so hero, anti-hero...any way you slice it...I love everything about these worlds, the characters, and how the plots all fit together. Her books are addictive and A Stop In Time is another hit!!

Mac, Mackenzie, Ford has been alone for a long time. Her walls are so high and so thick, it's made her snark and sass super strong (I loved Mac's snark...oh my it was fantastic!!) to survive the small town she lives in. Why is she alone? The left side of her body is scarred from a accident and she works in a predominantly male dominated job, but after a life of feeling ostracized she actually prefers being alone, it's easier. It's easier until one man turns her world upside down.

When Daniel Madrano rolls into town asking questions and looking for a guy named Mac, he never pictured a beautiful, strong woman who gave just as much as he could. Especially one who could stop time. Yeah, that part freaked him out for just a moment, but if he hadn't already met Georgia, Bronson's woman who had unique abilities of her own, Mac's time stopping skills would have shocked him more. The part that did amaze him was the connection he felt, the instant sort of bond that drew him to her, one he'd never felt with anyone before and that scared him more than anything.

These two together are, for lack of a better term, magic. The pure sass that Mac gives Daniel, or as she calls him over and over again, Danny, just to get under his skin, is brilliant. Even when she finds out that he's a known gang member, a dangerous man, she never lets up. Her strength, determination is one of the best things I loved about the book, and a very close second was Daniel's tenacity and love for those he holds close.

There were so many great twists to this story and while this book stands completely on its own, reading Beyond My Darkness may give some insight and background into where Daniel comes from and the other characters in his life.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author.
After reading Beyond My Darkness, which is also centered around the Scorpion Gangs, each book is a complete standalone though, she instantly became a must read author for me.
A Stop in Time totally had me consumed and immersed in this new world this incredible author created.
Her writing is so detailed and descriptive for me it was like watching a movie play out instead of reading words on a page.
Mac is barley living life. She loves her work, which revolves around cars.
And basically that’s it. No real friends. No real hobbies. No enjoying going out.
She masks her pain and sadness with sarcasm. While sometimes it’s funny it’s mostly heartbreaking.
I was truly devastated for her.
But she’s probably one of the strongest heroines I’ve come across.
So resilient, so confident even while being very fearful and feeling defeated. She perseveres.
Daniel is a proud man. He was raised in a difficult environment with basically nothing.
And has become a strong powerful man.
He makes no apologies for what he had to do in order to reach what he’s become.
His and Mac’s world collide together when he sets out to find his truth.
Immediately after they met I could feel the electricity between them.
There is an instant power that starts brewing with them.
It just comes to life and is so intense. Palpable and an energy that just deepens with time.
These two are remarkable and unforgettable characters.
The plot and storyline is like nothing I’ve ever come across before.
It’s complex and intricate. It’s suspenseful and sexy. It’s thrilling and enticing.
I won’t give ant details into exactly what in consists of because that will absolutely ruining your reading experience.
Please do not read and reviews with spoilers!
If you do you are going to miss out on all the surprises and all the captivating things going on.
Read the blurb, take a chance and be prepared to have your mind blown!
Ms. Boldt’s imagination knows no limits. Her writing is impeccable.
And she brings everything together brilliantly.
It’s so precise so impeccable I can almost believe this can truly happen.
She is now a must read author for me.
This book is deserving of so much more than five stars.
It’s a one of a kind and it’s absolutely phenomenal!!

A Stop in Time is a superbly unique and absolutely mesmerizing story. R.C. Boldt is so incredibly talented at writing romantic suspense, and in this case the paranormal twist adds even more intrigue and quality to the story. I am in continuous awe of this author's writing skills and the way she can weave twists and turns into a story while giving readers an emotional connection to her characters. Daniel and MacKenzie were two fantastic characters who were brought together by fate and tragedy, and their love story was both gritty and fascinating.

"Our connection is unexplainable; that strong-as-f**k magnetic pull combined with the sensation that we're somehow familiar to each other."

I was a huge fan of Beyond My Darkness and was extremely excited to get my hands on this book. Daniel's story did not disappoint, and I was completely immersed in the story from start to finish. Mac was a unique character, and the author made her so relatable by having her vulnerabilities shine through her tough exterior. I wanted so badly for her to find her happiness after seeing what an isolated existence she lived. Daniel was a man on a mission but was unable to ignore the undeniable pull that he had towards Mac, and the way they somehow fit together so perfectly. There was a lot for them to navigate both with each other and the mysteries surrounding them, and I loved the back and forth banter that was always present between them. The storyline moved in a way where you did not know what was coming next for these characters.

"Sometimes, you have to find the courage to slay your monsters that won't let you sleep at night. And, in some cases, you have to become a unique brand of monster to do it."

The plot of this book was full of twists and had me hanging on to every word. The intimate scenes were very well written, as were the suspense elements. The characters were well developed and had great chemistry, and I enjoyed the way everything came together in the end. I loved seeing the characters from the previous book again, and am very hopeful that there are more books coming in this world. R.C. Boldt is an extremely talented writer and is a true master of this genre. I can't wait to read more from her.

A Stop In Time features characters introduced in Beyond My Darkness and has similar elements of a paranormal/supernatural vibe. Daniel Madrano is looking for his sister’s murderer and the trail has led him to Mackenzie Ford, local junkyard owner and a woman of mystery. Mac has gaps in her memory. One half of her face and body is scarred which she has no recollection of any accident that could’ve caused them. She’s covered most of the scars with tattoos of clocks in an attempt to hide them but she’s still an outcast in her town where she holds her aloof from most of her neighbours. But the scars are only part of what sets her apart. She has another unique ability that she keeps secret from everyone – she can freeze time.

I loved this book and could not read it fast enough. With flawed, complicated characters and a fantastic fast-paced, romantic suspense plot featuring murders and conspiracies I was engrossed from the first to the last page as Mac and Daniel teamed up albeit reluctantly on her part to solve his sister’s brutal murder. I loved their sizzling chemistry and wicked banter, at times Daniel appeared almost bemused that Mac wasn’t intimidated by his gangbanger persona and role as second in command of the Scorpions. This was definitely another five star read from RC Boldt.

Fantastic read right here!! I am speechless, utterly speechless with all the feels and love for this book. The writing and story were absolutely perfect. The character development was so multi-dimensional, and Mac was the perfect example. She was strong, brave, intelligent, smart-mouthed, and didn't take no cr@p from anyone; she was a true gem in my books and my favorite. Then we have Daniel, and let me tell you he knows his stuff. He will have you eating out of the palm of his hands, his presence alone is enough to make anyone weak. And, his caring and protective side is swoon-worthy. This storyline has thrills, romantic suspense, action, plot twists, and spice that's hot. Trust me when I tell you to read this right now!!

Mackenzie, a young woman whose left side all the way down to her left ankle is scarred. She wants someone to love her for who she is. As someone who is also scarred, I want someone as well to love me for who I am as well. Emilia and Daniel had a hard life since their mom passed & Reggie, their father is an abusive, narcissistic jerk. My heart broke when Emilia left and left Daniel behind but promised she’d return for him.

The twists and turns of this book have been absolutely gobsmacking amazing. Mac & Daniel’s meeting in Freebird was hysterical to read but then turned so sweet when their attraction to each other for “one night” was absolutely adorable.

This book was absolutely addictive.. I loved the bonus chapter so much

I was so excited to read this book! RC Boldt writes such original romantic suspense. I was happy to see glimpses of Bronson and Georgia again. Daniel is Bronson’s second in command on the hunt to find out who killed his sister. Georgia uses her powers to ask Emilia who killed her. Find Mac she says.

Mac is covered in scars and is an outcast. She has holes in her memory and somehow can stop time. When Daniel finds her, she wants nothing to do with a gang member. But they can help each other and they have incredible chemistry. This book is hotttttt but also classic mystery and suspense I have come to expect from Boldt.

I devoured this book and recommend you do too!

This story was worth the book hangover. It was fast paced, action packed, and unlike anything I’ve read before. The paranormal element was intriguing and the dark and twisted storyline had me glued to my seat until the very end. I absolutely loved the bonus chapter. It was an unexpected surprise and a great way to end this incredible story.
