Unoriginal, shallow characters, and overused tropes. The cliché, bad boy, manwhore rock star, whose dad didn’t love him enough, therefore, he lacks the self-esteem to make the tough/right choices in life.
The martyr FMC, concealing a pregnancy (although she did make an attempt to reach him) and son for seven years. These two were high school loves, although they didn’t have sex in high school. He leaves town to become a rockstar, leaving her at 16.
They meet up again when she is 21 for one evening of wild passion. He still doesn’t feel like he is enough for her, so he sneaks out in the early hours of the morning, blocking her number.
The story left me with more questions than answers. There is not one comment made about Bristol’s previous sex life. Was she a virgin the first time she had sex with Vince? Did she really not have any boyfriends over the course of 11 years?
They both claim that they have loved each other since high school, but that makes his manwhore behavior even more disgusting.
Really uncomfortable forced sexy talk. Blech
The storybook ending did not make up for the surface level emotions in this story. HEA.

DNF at 36%. I wanted to love this after I saw a TikTok about it. The beginning held a lot of promise. This book has a lot of tropes that I personally love, so it should have worked for me in theory.
I strive to be honest and transparent in my reviews, especially when I give a one star. This one is no different.
Here’s why Sweet Regret didn’t work for me:
1. I found the overall writing style to be quite juvenile and it was hard getting it to flow in my mind.
2. Vince is absolutely and completely insufferable. I didn’t mind the chapters from Bristol’s POV nearly as much as I loathed the chapters inside Vince’s mind. I wanted to tear out my hair when it was his POV.
He’s an arrogant, immature asshole who seems to care more about Bristol’s body than all the pain he caused her, or building a new foundation they could possibly stand on. But seriously, more than half his thoughts are about her ass, hips or boobs. He’s also SO forward and SO pushy and he honestly gave me the ick.
I couldn’t pinpoint one redeeming quality that he had to offer. He was awful in the worst ways that made me truly hate the idea of reading any more of this book, and I can’t force myself to read a book where I despise one of the main characters, especially a dual POV book. I truly can’t believe his character is 29 years old (I’m pretty sure since I believe he’s a year older than Bristol).
3. I don’t know if this makes sense, but taking it back to the juvenile writing style, I felt like the flashbacks with Vince’s dad were just… Cliche. The insults he would throw were wooden and lacked conviction, if that even does make sense. I’m not sure how else to explain it. It was cookie cutter “bad dad” lines.
4. The amount of italicized and cringey inner monologues going on were ridiculous. SO many that I felt like it took away from the overall flow of the book, which I was already struggling to find.
This was the first novel I’ve tried to read from this author and I’m sad that I feel more relief than anything by not finishing it. Like I said above, it had everything I should have liked, but the characters and the writing made it a solid DNF for me.

A second chance single mom romance... But who begs for forgiveness?? Not who you think.
Vince and Bristol were lovers without actually telling eachother their love, before Vince leaves our girl Bristol, they have sex with "no strings attached" and that leaves Bristol pregnant.
Vince leaves to live the life of a rockstar, blocks Bristol, fucks around, drinks around and he is just thriving while Bristol is left alone with a baby in her belly, trying to be both a father and a mother to her child.
When they meet after 7 years (the 7 years that Bristol counted🙄) Vince knows nothing while Bristol knows everything, since only thing Vince didn't do on camera and the public eye is fuck but who knows?
She does not tell Vince that he has a son named Jagger (ew wtf is that name) and rightfully so... This girl called him like a maniac to be left on his voicemails, and no peep from him for 7 years. AND HE GETS MAD AT HER FOR NOT TEELING HIM.
BITCH.
Vince has a bitch of a father on his deatbed and he exposes the kid that Vince does not know (yet) to the media, and thats how he learns.
You would think he would grovel, but no, SHE DOES💀 Like, wtfff???
I stare at her. At the only person I’ve ever truly loved and, for the first time in my life, I know what true heartbreak feels like. Because she just shattered my heart.
Bitch do you know what real heartbreak is?
It's being left alone with a child in your belly while you are technically a teenager, having your number blocked after getting tapped for the first time to be left PREGNANT, and oh, that "you were counting." comment. FUCK. YOU. VINCE. What did you expect, that she would tell you that she had your son while you announced publicly that you would rather die than have children.
So our girl Bristol grovels.
HELL NO.
Bristol is not the one who should seek forgiveness. Bye.
The only quote I liked was this;
“I never charged my computer so I was forced to sit next to you and use yours. I may have flunked a few tests on purpose so I had to keep seeing you. I might even have driven you crazy playing a beat on the table with my hands so you’d be forced to reach over and grab my wrists to stop me.” He laughs. “And that touch might have made this sixteen- year- old hard as a rock under the table where we were sitting together.”
All of that to leave her and to come back like nothing happened.
Let's never have the FMC grovel again. Thank you.

5 'Your different is your beautiful' Stars!
Without a single doubt, one of my top favorite reads of 2023 and one of the best works by K. Bromberg! I did devour Sweet Regret in half a day and I am so-not-sorry about it because it's just THAT GOOD. Kristy is on my top auto-buy authors' list and she has never failed to deliver. This second chance, rockstar standalone romance is such a delightful treat. A great couple, an adorable kid, amazing secondary characters, a whole lot of chemistry and steam and the whole shebang of feels. And some cameos from beloved characters as well!
So yes, Vince and Bristol and their love story is one you cannot miss, especially if you love Bromberg's books. This couple and their journey will keep your attention from start to finish and the second chance is so beautiful to read. I loved these two, getting to know them and their stories, how their love keeps going after so many years and how it evolves together with being parents of little Jagger. It was so emotional, so beautifully written, sexy and just perfect. Make sure to check Sweet Regret out, I highly recommend it!

4 Vince and Bristol (and Jagger) Stars
It's been a while since I read a Rockstar romance so I was very keen to start this one with secret baby, second chance , childhood sweetheart tropes all wrapped up in a dark and brooding guitarist. Adored by millions and loved by one. Sign. Me. Up.
I'm definitely up for that...
It gets off to a strong start and there is a good deal of tension building up to firstly, Vince and Bristol meeting again after seven years , then to the big reveal of Jagger which I have to say was done spectacularly well. My heart was skipping beats. In between this you have a truly damaged soul which is Vince and it is a result of his abusive childhood. Each time the book had a dark moment, it was beautifully balanced with something funny or the pure delight that was Jagger. There is a scene where Jagger explains why his Daddy isn't in his life;
My Dadda loves me more than the world, but he wasn't ready to handle all this awesomeness." Jagger says with a sheepish but bittersweet smile on his face. "Maybe someday."
Cue the crying...
As a Hero, Vince left me a little conflicted at times. Did he win me over in the end? I think so, yes. But at times I really didn't like him. I felt sorry for him and what he had experienced himself and there was very well written character development but yeah , at times he was hard to like.
Bristol is a very likeable heroine and I loved that she still navigated her own course to her dreams of being a lawyer despite all the set backs and the unexpected events. She always kept Jagger as her priority.
Speaking of Jagger - he's very cute. Child characters are tricky to write well but he is beautifully crafted and brought to life in the pages of the book. Watching Vince build a relationship with the little boy he had not known about was enough to give me all the feels.
I hadn't realised that the book before this , Sweet Ache , has been on my TBR and kindle since 2015.
These are the real and trying issues faced on a daily basis by avid bookworms! I shall rectify this soon and read the story of Vincent's bandmate and best friend, Hawke.
I enjoyed this passionate , sexy and emotional rockstar romance and would recommend to anyone who is a fan of these tropes.
HEA? More HFN but it is a beautiful ending. I hope the other two band members get books too.

I loved the Synopis of this book. But this was utterly disappointing to me. This was the first time that I believed, that the h was correct in hiding her pregnancy from the H. Because if this was real, and I was her, I would've done the same. 🙄🙄
I understood the whole troubled childhood, abusive father etc that Vince (H) had and was going through, but he did not deserve Bristol (h). He didn't deserve chances after chances from her, he was just so self destructive. 🙄 Also I got that he had issues to do with his childhood in his twenties, but then he was 30, WITH THE SAME ISSUES. With the same self destructiveness, that it was just annoying and frustrating to read about. Such a miserable idiot.
Also he had the cheek to be angry at HER for hiding their son from him, like she never tried to tell him in the past. Like he never blocked her number, walked away from her so many damn times and left her feeling like shit. 😒😒

I’m fairly new to K. Bromberg’s books, but they just get better and better as I read them. This one was no different!
Sweet Regret was packed full of emotion, heartache, spice, and adorable moments. It was the first rockstar romance I’ve ever read and I absolutely LOVED it. Ngl, the whole time I was like picturing the One Direction members and I’m not complaining at all 😌
Vince and Bristol’s characters were so well written and their chemistry was undeniable from the start. I had a few favorite moments/things: 1) Vince’s character development!!! Love to see it 🥲 2) What’s better than a “my wife” moment??

I’m fairly new to K. Bromberg’s books, but they just get better and better as I read them. This one was no different!
Sweet Regret was packed full of emotion, heartache, spice, and adorable moments. It was the first rockstar romance I’ve ever read and I absolutely LOVED it. Ngl, the whole time I was like picturing the One Direction members and I’m not complaining at all 😌
Vince and Bristol’s characters were so well written and their chemistry was undeniable from the start. I had a few favorite moments/things: 1) Vince’s character development!!! Love to see it 🥲 2) What’s better than a “my wife” moment??

Meh, it was alright but I didn't care for the surly rockstar stomping his foot because things didn't go his way and even less for the heroine intent on confusing selfless and doormat.
I liked it but I've read better and more entertaining second chance romance with a rockstar.

this book covered my favorite trope and i liked it a lot at first then it started to get repetitive. she gives him the cold shoulder, they talk abt how much they loved each other as kids, they argue, they have sex, they repeat. i felt like the couple made no connection as their present selves and they rely solely on the connection they had ELEVEN YEARS AGO. they kinda just reminisce abt their past and get upset w each other the wholeeeee book.
i hated how he was so angry at Bristol (fmc) when he found out abt their kid, Jagger. Vince (mmc) blames her for not telling him abt the kid since they reconnected a few weeks prior and gives her the silent treatment despite the fact that the reason he missed out on SIX YEARS of his child’s life was his fault???? then SHE apologizes to him when he’s the one that blocked her number and never sought her out again for seven years!!! bro literally admits that had he not found out abt the kid he would’ve smashed her then dipped… AGAIN. and he still can’t fathom why A) she didn’t jump at the opportunity to tell him abt the kid and B) why she doesn’t believe him when he says he finally wants to be w her.
also not that i agree w bristol not telling him abt jagger sooner (or at all considering he found out from the press.) i do think she should’ve told him and she had multiple opportunities to do so but i also understand why she didn’t do so. i also don’t think he was justified in being that angry towards her considering how he felt abt fatherhood and his track record of leaving her behind.
imo they treat the mmc (vince) like a child and let him get away w so much. he treated his best friend like crap and barely apologized to him and the best friend just brushes it under the rug like nothing happened.
ALSO i hated how bristol’s mom kept telling him how much of a good man he was when she literally saw how he broke bristol’s heart not once but TWICE. what is so good abt that man???? also wtf she was tryna guilt trip bristol into telling vince abt the kid but she picked up the phone when vince called and told him to forget her number!! AFTER THE BABY WAS ALREADY BORN. damn if i didn’t know any better i’d think bristol’s mom was the one in love w him all these years.
but yea overall it just didn’t feel like vince made a connection w both jagger AND bristol. basically there was a whole lot of talk and no action. he TOLD them (and us) how much he supposedly loves them but did not in fact show us. the whole book is literally them arguing, talking abt how much they loved eachother for the past 11 years (despite bro sleeping w how many other women, but of course it was okay bc he was thinking of bristol the whole time), and continuously sleeping w eachother despite their hundreds of unsolved conflicts.
side note: if i found out my ran thru high school sweetheart / father of my child slept with countless women while my nickname was tattoo’d on his body i would go absolutely insane. that was not cute to me at allllllllll

Sweet Regret was simply incredible! Reading Vince & Bristol's story had me all up in my feels. To say I loved this book is an understatement. From the characters to the storyline, there isn't much not to love. Sweet Regret is a story of heart break, love, and healing! Vince was made to believe he was nothing and deserved nothing good in his life which led him to leave the one good thing in his life. Bristol was left to pick up the pieces. She is so incredibly strong. She built a life that she could be proud of but fate had different plans when it threw Vince back in to her orbit. There was a mountain of hurt to overcome but the climb was well worth it. Watching Vince heal had me in tears. It was beautiful watching this broken man overcome all his demons to become the man that Bristol has known was there all along. These two are magic together!
I would love to see this book on the big screen! It is truly a beautiful story and just might be my all-time favorite Bromberg book!!

Vince Jennings would have stayed with his first love forever if he could have but a troubled upbringing made that impossible if he ever wanted to make something of himself. Going their separate ways was hard but the only way to be who they are today. Now a famous rock star Vince hires a new manager. Imagine his surprise when his first love, Bristol Matthew’s is the one assigned to him. Can he stay focused on the music or will making Bristol remember how good they were together be more important? Wow, I could not put this book down. From the very first page it just drew me in to Vince and Bristol’s story. The sweet moments, the sad and yes, the steamy ones too make this a must read second chance romance. There is also a little surprise but I’ll let you find out what that is on your own. My heart broke for all that Vince is going through. He is definitely one swoon worthy rockstar! I also enjoyed seeing Hawkin and the other guys from his former band, Bent. Whenever they’d seen each other since, they’ve still had undeniable chemistry. So when Vince turns up to be the newest client at Bristol’s management firm, he’s shocked to find she hasn’t hit the goals they’d both planned on.
🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: It seems like I am always praising K. Bromberg‘s writing, but there’s a reason for that. Whenever she goes for a trope, she always produces a story that’s so much more. So if you one of those people who can’t stand a secret baby, you might want to reconsider on this one.
I’m a complete sucker for an angsty rockstar romance, and this hit all the right notes. (See what I did there?) Bromberg wrote two characters who struggled daily to just get by, albeit in different circumstances. And you are totally rooting for them to find their peace.
I even liked how the secret baby angle was handled. It wasn’t the cause of a third-act breakup, it was an emotional new beginning that took time and emotion to get through. And the result was the ultimate swoony happy ending.

Before going into Sweet Regret, I’d only read one rockstar romance and it was a disaster to say the least. It was enough to make me give up on the trope before ever getting proper exposure to it.
I can now proudly say that I am a rockstar romance girlie.
As a strong protector of my peace, I loved how messy it was. The angst made me giggle like a little schoolgirl. I was living vicariously through this couple that couldn’t stay together to save their lives. Did I root for them to be together? Well, I didn’t not root for them to be together. But I enjoyed every second of their desperate pining for one another.
Vince was so toxic. The flags were burning red. But once again, I don’t love the drama, it loves me. That being said, you need to go into this with an open mind just for the prospect of enjoying it. There was a little character redemption for him at the end, but only after he learns about Bristol’s secret. So if that is an aspect you won’t be able to look over, then it may not be the read for you.
”I’ve been trying to fuck her out of my system, so that all the women blur together, and I can try to forget her.”
While there may not be any other woman drama or cheating, Vince does sleep around during the period of time he and Bristol were apart. I mean, a lot. His excuse is that he was trying to get over her any way possible. There’s a lot of self-sabotage with him bringing himself down to the point where he actually believes he is incapable and unworthy of love.
I’m sure by now we are all well aware that I can be brutal with my reviews. So, if I can look past his behavior and choices, chances are you probably can or will too. Though I will say, actions speak louder than words. While I personally would never ever let a man treat me that way, there wouldn’t be a story if she didn’t.
Bristol is an independent girl boss. Say what you wanna say, but truthfully, I stand by the idea that her making the decision to keep Jagger a secret was the best. Would I sleep with his father after having him, knowing I have no intentions of sharing his existence? Probably not, but it was for the plot. While I, like Vince, wish she stood her ground with her boss, a lot of us women have been there, done that. It’s a lot easier said than done.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a secret-baby trope before, but since we’ve already established I’m here to see the show, I was definitely eating it up. Jagger is also just the cutest kid ever. Those scenes at the lake house were my absolute favorite. I loved seeing the bond he shared with Bristol and eventually, Vince. Don’t even get me started on that epilogue. It sealed the deal for me.
I once again would like to bring attention to the talent that is writing supporting characters that are just as, if not more, loveable than the main characters. Simone and Hawke, Bristol and Vince’s best friends, balanced the couple out perfectly. They were the voice of reason. The people that will tell it to you straight no matter what. Simone is without a doubt a girls girl and her witty commentary made me love her all the more. Hawke is a rock of a man, someone you want to lean on in all of your days, darkest and brightest. He was there for Vince despite the many questionable decisions he made during a time of pain.
I want more. More of Vince. More of Bristol. More of Jagger. More of this universe. Just more of everything, in the best way possible.
As my first book from this author, I can now rest assured knowing it won’t be my last. Adding her entire backlist to my endless TBR as we speak. After coming down from the disappointment that was my last read, it was a pleasant surprise.

this. book. my heart was in its grip since the prologue. i loved this book. i loved this book to pieces, my gosh it was so good.
bristol and vince were high school sweethearts. they had already made some plans for the future, but because of his troubled life at home vince couldn’t wait any longer and needed to leave town thus breaking both his and bristol’s hearts. fast forward some years later and vince being a superstar rockstar he and bristol see each other for the first time since their goodbye. the connection they once shared is still there and there’s no denying it. they share one unforgettable night, but once again vince walks away. seven years later and surprising both bristol and vince they once again come face-to-face, this time in the form of work and bristol being assigned to vince. there are so many emotions running through both of them and its hard having each other so close and yet so far away and not being able to truly be together.
bristol and vince have a lot to unpack before they can think about a future together. they both have faults and a lot to make right. the one constant is the undeniable connection they share. they make each other a better person and are each others missing piece. i loved their friendship and their banter was top notch. i couldn’t get enough of them and just loved them to pieces.
sweet regret was an emotionally charged, heartbreakingly beautiful second chance romance with an abundance of feels. i couldn’t get enough of bristol and vince and of their whirlwind of a well fought second chance. they both deserved all the happiness in the world and i’m so glad they made it through.

It has been a minute since I listened to a rockstar romance that actually had me swooning over the MMC!
Vince and Bristol were meant to be from the moment their story started, and it never let up. I could feel the pull they had for one another even after years apart. It was a constant. The way their personalities caught fire when they were around each other kind of left me awestruck a time or two. Like, there was nothing that could stop their spark from igniting. Nothing except their own regrets anyway.
Bristol's regrets were buried not only in the past but in the present and quite possibly the future, but Vince's regrets go deeper. From a father who never loved him enough, to a mother that left when he was young, Vince vowed never to be like them and letting go of Bristol to protect her was the only option.
As their adult lives come crashing together like a storm will Vince and Bristol be able to overcome the secrets that were kept as well as the secrets that were just revealed or will their love just be a Sweet Regret.
Ryan West is a new to me narrator, but he did such a good job at the broody rockstar, and we all know I love Stella Hunter. She never fails to deliver the best performance every time.
For a girl who isn't a big fan of rockstar romances this one completely had my heart from start to finish. You can't go wrong with a second chance romance with a curvy heroine after all.

Ryan West is a new to me narrator, but he did such a good job at the broody rockstar, and we all know I love Stella Hunter. She never fails to deliver the best performance every time.
For a girl who isn't a big fan of rockstar romances this one completely had my heart from start to finish. You can't go wrong with a second chance romance with a curvy heroine after all.

I usually enjoy a Bromberg book, but this wasn't it for me. I think I found both of the primary characters to be annoying - the MMC just dips and leaves, yet had the plan of doing the same thing, with the FMC...then treats her like a groupie. The FMC is supposedly headstrong and competent, yet ignores her work and has no self worth. Too annoying, too many flashbacks, and too many repeated lines/thoughts by the characters. It just wasn't going anywhere!

It was just so boring? The characters didn’t have anything exciting about them, the plot was very typical, the second chance romance aspect was for a poor reason, I think that trope needs solid, valid reasons for why the split and why they didn’t work so we have something to delve into when they reconnect
Also the child was called Jagger and I just could not

Vince and Bristol always had an undeniable chemistry, a loved that’s survived every since high school, but there’s things that have kept them apart…things in his past that caused there distance for years and years,
And then they get another chance, a second chance, but that doesn’t work out either, heart wrenching as it was, it still wasn’t meant to be in that moment of time.
Seven years after that…Bristol decides to fill in for her friend and colleague when she asks, so she goes to work just expecting a new client and nothing earth shattering, and shocking,
But what she finds when she gets there is her first love and the man who let her go—twice.
It’s a shock to her system, she’s goes through anger, and hurt, and so many feels when she sees him, she doesn’t know if it would be worth giving into there chemistry once again when she knows he’ll leave again,
And especially when she finds out he’s her new client…
She had a secret she’s keeping from him, something—or someone, that she needs to keep in mind, jagger was such a cutie, I truly understood why she didn’t tell him when they met again,
I fully understood her reasoning, the secret baby trope always annoys me in the sense that the girl never has a good enough reason as to why she didn’t tell him or “try hard enough to” but she did…and I fully am on her side.
I will not lie…I hated Vince, I hated him for more then 90% of the story, his reasonings as sad as they were…didn’t feel like enough of a reason to continue to abandon her, he claimed to love her when I saw non of it in his actions.
I truly couldn’t with him claiming he’s slept with tons and tons of women to try to forget her…(I really don’t like this add in authors put in) I also hated how he made out with a women in front of her…and kept thinking is she was jealous, and then was shocked when she stormed off hurt? Okay anyway.
Besides those two gross moments, I loved the book, the writing was easy to read and I loved Bristol and jagger, and her mom!! Gosh I loved her so much.
I definitely recommend you guys check this out when it releases! It had me in the feels and I got through it in one sitting 💗

I was super excited to read this book because I do enjoy the tropes in this book (rockstar, secret baby, second chance) from time to time, but it unfortunately missed the mark for me…
Mostly, I could not get over my dislike for the MMC. Vince was much too cocky for his own good — not in a good way — and it sometimes felt like he took the FMC Bristol for granted and thought of her as easy 😀 They also had a relationship when they were younger that seemed really sweet, so I wish I could have seen more of that because it was a little hard to see where their love stemmed from to begin with. And for me personally, it’s one of my least favorite things when the MMC of a book sleeps with anyone that breathes, while the FMC barely gets any action as they spend years apart, so that bothered me a bit as well 🙃
But the part I did like about this book was the growth I saw from both characters, especially Vince. The moments that he had with his son and Bristol towards the end made me emotional, and I can’t deny how sweet they were 🤧 It was just difficult for me to get past the dislike I had for him during most of the book because he had spent almost that entire time being a huge red flag 🚩 I understand that Vince had a difficult life/past, but I don’t think it excuses all of his actions, and a part of me still thinks that Bristol deserves better 😅 Perhaps more groveling would’ve helped LOL.
Overall, this book frustrated me for the most part, but I was definitely entertained and couldn’t put it down 😆 I think I would still recommend it to someone who enjoys the tropes of this book and is also a fan of high angst. And even though this was my first book by this author, I would still be open to trying another one in the future 🥰
