Runaway Ranch #1

Tame the Heart

Rate this book
Keeping my heart guarded all my life has never been an issue. Until he saves me in a bar fight.

Charlie Montgomery is one grumpy rancher. Calloused hands, stubborn heart, the definition of a true cowboy.

He dislikes me from the second we meet. Warns me away from his tiny town of Resurrection, Montana. Well, what he doesn’t know is I’m armed with a bucket list and a secret. There’s no way I’m leaving. I’ll just keep my distance.

Only in a small town that distance doesn’t last for long. Because I owe him a Work for him for three months and help him save his home. Runaway Ranch.

But our close confines mean I see what’s under all that strong. I see the real Charlie Montgomery. The man behind the rugged rancher who yells. Beneath his dark beard hides a rare smile. Beneath his mile-wide chest beats a tender heart. One that slowly starts to beat for me.

And instead of running back onto that open road, I run towards Charlie instead.

But a hidden danger is lurking. Someone who doesn't want Charlie to save his ranch. Someone who is out to get us both. And I could lose more than my heart this summer—I could lose my life…

What is it about me lately that all I seem to pick up is the dreaded dead-ex trope? Over & over again and there is no warning from Author or reviewers. Why not? Is it too much to ask for someone to mention this so that those of us who hate this trope can avoid it? Sheesh!

Spoiler Warning....

I only got in about 15% before I gave up and DNF'd because hero is all about still grieving for the dead Fiancée whom he loved with all his heart and doesn't want to move on from. There's a bunch of memories and POVs of how her death was like a physical pain and blah, blah, blah while heroine has a heart defect which she inherited from her mother & grandmother who died in their late 20's and she wants to live a full life and has a rosy/sunshine attitude and apparently willing to accept someone's leftovers.

Yeah, not for me but those who like this BS, all power to ya.

This was a great read. I really enjoyed it, and I didn't think I would based off of how I felt about Babymoon.

Ruby has the same illness (SVT) her mother and aunt died from and is struggling to live her life the way she always wished for and plans to do just that. She could die at any moment, and this prompts her to create a bucket list and check them all off.

During her travels she ends up in a small town and stumbles into what will become her entire future.

We also meet our MMC Charlie, and he is one of the owners of Runaway Ranch along with his brothers. A decade ago, he lost his fiancée who was killed by a horse during a competition, and this stops him from truly living too, he is distant, and his main focus has become the ranch.

Enter Ruby.

She throws his entire life into a spiral and despite how much he wants to be without her, he cannot stop himself from falling for her. I cannot blame him as I loved Ruby, of course she has her flaws but there was something so naturally great about her. Charlie our resident grump, cannot even stop himself from smiling and wishing for a life with her.

They both keep their secrets though; he never speaks about his dead fiancée, and she never tells him or anyone in town about her SVT.

They spend the summer hooking up, but it quickly becomes more despite their attempts to keep it casual. Ruby is helping the brothers with their marketing and social media presence as the underlining sub plot is about the ranch being in trouble after a controversy breaks out with a viral video. Ruby, whose job was once a social media manager is able to help them out and fix up the issues and create a steady future for them.

She finds out about what happened to him all those years ago and why he is the way he is and this prompts her to make a hasty decision but thankfully, there is no third act breakup, she does attempt to leave before the summer is over and to stop him from hurting if he ever found out about her illness and the possibly loss of another woman in his life BUT he shows up right on time and stops her from doing so.

I appreciated how we didn't get a clear fix for her SVT and this is something she is still living with but is able to join medical experiments to help her even more. Also, happy we didn’t get the ''she's pregnant'' trope and complete disregard for her previous explanations that pregnancy would not be a wise decision...though we do get them becoming parents as they have the mystery sister-in-law of Charlie (a girl we have no idea and which brother she is married to) give them a child via surrogacy.

The brothers will all obviously get their own books, and we have a few hints on one particular couple which should be fun to see it unravel as they had the biggest tension and angst during this book.

I really enjoyed this one, it was a nice getaway from some darker books I have read. I liked both Charlie and Ruby and cannot wait for the remaining books!

I really love Ava Hunter and her small town romances, so I was so excited for this one! And I loved it from the start!

The heroine has a heart condition, so her family has been very overprotective all her life. She finally decides to take her life into her own hands, makes a list, and hits the road. She finds herself at Runaway Ranch in Montana and strikes a deal with the grumpy owner that she can help with social media and bring them customers if she can stay. I really loved the hero and how closed off he was because of losing someone close to him in the past. The hero and heroine have huge secrets they're keeping from each other, but they won't tell without the other telling, so they continue to start falling for each other while hiding the biggest parts of them.

I loved the setting of this book and how fun all of the side characters were. I can't wait for all of the other books in this series! I also really loved the dynamic between the hero an heroine and how they didn't want to admit that they actually were falling for one another. If you want a cowboy opening his heart again on his ranch he runs with his cowboy brothers, definitely pick this book up!!

It’s very rare, but sometimes it happens. Sometimes I know within the first 20% if it’s a five-star read. This was one of those times.

📔 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼: Tame the Heart by Ava Hunter, book one in the Runaway Ranch series.

📚𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Grumpy/sunshine, small town romance, just for a summer, cowboy romance, love after loss.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Ruby’s heart condition has always held her back from living her life, so runs away from her family. The next stop on her road trip? Redemption, Montana… where she meets Charlie, a gruff cowboy who owns a struggling ranch. As much as he doesn’t want to admit it, she might be just the right thing to turn his fortune around.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: The only downside to this book is that I started it at 7:30 p.m. and now I’m running on less than 2 hours of sleep.

I applied for this ARC because I really enjoyed Ava Hunter’s summer release, Babymoon or Bust. The Runaway Ranch series is new, so I thought I’d take a chance. And man, am I glad I did.

It’s not a spoiler to say Ruby has a heart condition, because it’s legit in the first chapter. And normally I’m not struck by a sunshine character with a secret, but the way Ava Hunter wrote her, it was impossible not to love her too.

But man, Charlie stole the show. From the absolute line in the book where he first saw Ruby, I knew this book was special. And as his POV went on, I was just enamored by him. Cowboy. Grief stricken. Complete bad boy who fights in bars but then also brings Ruby sunflowers.

I loved everything about this book. And one thing Ava Hunter did REALLY well was set up the next books in the series, because I’m completely hooked. Huge bonus points for an extended epilogue that makes you want to fill in the blanks.

I don’t say this lightly. But, I know we are all sad Elsie Silver’s Chesnut Springs series is over. And maybe we don’t have to be sad, because this is a legit contender to fill that void.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🌻₊˚⊹ On the ranch, I’ve always known you can’t tame the wild. And I now know I can’t tame Ruby’s heart. All I can do is love it.

I'm back in my cowboy romance era 🤠 I loved this so much! I read it in two days, I was hooked from the start and although it's far from a perfect book, I'm willing to ignore the unnecessary drama because this was so good.

Small town romances will always be a favourite of mine, I just adore the cosy and wholesome vibe, the tight-knit community, the simple life. And when you throw in cowboys, it gets even better. I'm a nature girl at heart, so the setting for this book was absolute perfection. I'm still waiting for my cowboy to pick me up and take me to his ranch. Life's so unfair sometimes 🥲

Ruby has a health condition that prevents her from living life to the fullest, but she's willing to take any risks if it means she can finally live. She decides to go on a journey and do all the things she has always wanted to do and it leads her to Runaway Ranch, where she meets a grumpy cowboy who needs help to save his ranch.

🌻₊˚⊹ “I don’t have a chance with you around, do I? You’re gonna ruin me.” I give him a flirty little smile. “You afraid of me, Cowboy?” His handsome face sobers. “Deathly.”

This book has a plot besides the romance and it was so entertaining. I'd say it falls under romantic suspense, there's a bit of a mystery going on, nothing crazy or shocking, but it added some nice drama to the story. It's not fully resolved, so I'm curious to see how it plays out in the next book.

🌻₊˚⊹ “Sunflower. That’s what you are.” Turning, he pulls me onto his lap so I straddle him, his big fingers tangling in my hair. “Resilient. Beautiful. My sweet sunflower.” A ragged breath shakes out of him like he’s in disbelief. “You got me living, Ruby, and I haven’t done that in a long time.”

જ⁀➴ Ruby is a very optimistic, live in the moment kind of girl. She is a sunflower, as Charlie calls her. I loved her, she's so sweet, but she also had a feisty side that I loved to see 🤭 she annoyed me a bit because she kept her condition a secret from Charlie for so long, but I understood her fears. They made so much sense and I like how her health issues were handled.

🌻₊˚⊹ She tastes of sunshine and flowers. I want to breathe her in deep and keep her there. This girl’s gold. I can’t stay away./I>

જ⁀➴ Charlie is my perfect grumpy man, because underneath that surly exterior there's a heart of gold. Not only is he so damn hot, he was so good to Ruby, he listened to her, he respected her, he treated her so nicely. All in all an amazing man in my eyes 😌

🌻₊˚⊹ “I’m gonna make this good for you, Ruby.” Without missing a beat, he tugs my hips closer to the edge of the bed, and I lie back down. “So goddamn good I’m gonna ruin you for every man who comes after me.”

ˋ°•*⁀➷ Ruby and Charlie are so perfect together. Their relationship isn't a slow burn, but it's definitely not insta-love. It starts as a physical thing (the spice was good 🥵) and slowly evolves into something more intimate and romantic. It's a case of she falls first, but he falls harder! There is some miscommunication, but it's not because they don't talk to each other. It's mostly because they both have their demons and secrets and are afraid to fully reveal themselves to each other. Sometimes it was a bit frustrating and there was some unnecessary drama, but it wasn't horrible. I think they're so cute and I was so happy to see them happy and in love 🥹

🌻₊˚⊹ “I love you, Ruby,” he says when he pulls back. Visibly overcome, he presses my hand over his heart, and his piercing blue eyes stare into mine. “From this heartbeat until the last, I am yours.”

I loved the family moments with Charlie's brothers, I need these men in my life and can't wait to read their books (I really hope there is a book for each brother).

I would recommend this to anyone who loves small town romances and cowboys, it's so good 🥰 If you like the Chestnut Springs series, I think you'll enjoy the Runaway Ranch series.

“On my knees for you, baby,” I drawl. “You like that? ‘Cause that’s how you’re always gonna have me.”

This was so wholesome I really needed it.

I love my cowboys/ranchers grumpy but with a heart of gold and this grumpy x sunshine, small-town romance serves that and more.

The free-spirited Ruby Bloom has a serious heart condition but that didn't stop her from committing to a bucket list and embark on a getaway that led her to Resurrection, a tiny town in Montana and there she meets Charlie Montgomery, a sexy rancher and one hell of a grump.

Sparks flew from the moment Charlie saved Ruby from a bar fight and while Ruby falls first, Charlie falls harder but both are haunted by something that might come in the way of their happily ever after.

So expect some angst because it'll get angsty.

But it's not only the romance that made this book so good, the Montgomery family dynamic was a lot of fun and I love the bond between the brothers and how they always have each other's backs.

I also appreciate how Ruby's condition was handled which is a heart condition called supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). It wasn't swept under the rug nor was it a plot conflict that had to be resolved. It's a condition that she must live with her entire life so I appreciate that wasn't ignored or magically healed.

If you're in the mood for a sweet and spicy small-town, cowboy romance then this is it!

✨Tropes to expect:
— Sunshine x Grumpy
— Employee x Boss
— Age gap (26 x 34)
— Small-town/Ranch life
— Spicy

Trigger warnings: this book deals with a health condition, grief, mention of death of loved ones.

This. This is the type of romance I'm always on the search for. Now listen, I love pining and yearning, as most readers do. And author's know this, so they always include lots of it. The problem I often find though, is that authors write in so much pining and lovey-doveyness that romance books often lose momentum and any sense of conflict. I found this to be an issue with Rope the Moon, as the story stalled and became repetitive. However, in Tame the Heart, Ava Hunter perfectly balances all the yearning and romantic desperation with interpersonal and broader plot-related obstacles. So yes, Ruby and Charlie fall hard and fast, but there's still angst and a reason to keep reading after they get together. I also found them both to be quite well-written characters. And their connection felt very genuine. Lastly, I loved that even though this book includes a widow, he never compares the women in his life. Overall I highly recommend this book and I'm reinvigorated to continue the series. If you like books with pining and yearning, but still want that feeling of there being real stakes, give this book a try!

Two things that made me want to read this book immediately was the fact that this was a small town romance and we had a grumpy older cowboy. From that point on, I knew that I needed to read this and I'm glad that I took a chance on a story like this one.

Ruby wants nothing more than to live her life without pause. Living with a heart condition has taught her that time is precious and you have to live life to the fullest. A good way to start is doing a cross country road trip and making lasting memories. Stumbling in a new town, Ruby decides to stay for a while but by doing that, she crosses paths with a grumpy rancher who's life is more than complicated.

flat-line-heartbeat

Charlie Montgomery has been through hell and back but he's content with his life now. Being a ranch owner for the past ten years hasn't been easy but along with his brothers, they're doing good. Until one incident threatens to derail all of their hard work and put a target on their backs. Knowing deep down that the next few words out of his mouth is going to change his life and his ranch, Charlie agrees to let a newcomer handle his social media management. But what he doesn't expect is to fall for a woman who's only temporary.

Crazy-Realistic-Hammerheadbird-size-restricted

I really enjoyed this story for the most part. I loved seeing the day to day life of the ranch and I really liked Charlie's brothers. They added more to the story and along with it being an emotional read at times, they were there to balance a few things out.

The only issue that I had with this one is that the story did drag a bit and it was too long. I also didn't like what a certain character purposely chose to do because a lot of things could have been avoided.

If you're looking for emotional small town cowboy romance, then this one's for you.

"petty reason you are dnfing a book?"see book quotes bellow...

..."And how small is she? If I held her in my arms, she’d what? Barely come up to my shoulder?

She’s delicate and small in a bright yellow sundress that hits high on her slim thighs. Big blue doe-eyes. Bee-stung lips. Slight, elfin features. "

.....
No, just no...
And yes I hate dead ex trope, but I still can read books with it, but this description of heroine I just can't....sooooo I will pass on this one

I had high hopes for this book. I enjoy cowboy and small town romances but sadly this didn’t work out for me. The writing along with the female character Ruby felt very young despite her being twenty six years old. Her behavior and dialogue was just off for me.
I needed more tension and build up between Ruby and Charlie but instead it was very insta-lusty. It went from talking to doing it in a couple of chapters.
Ruby’s secret was dragged out.
The only thing I liked was Charlie and his brothers.

Ruby has a heart condition (SVT) that caused the death of her mom and her aunt, which has made her dad and brother extremely overbearing and overprotective. She realizes that she could literally die any time and she hasn't even lived. So she sets out on a journey alone, exploring places and checking off her bucket list which is how she ends up in Montana and meets Charlie – the grumpy cowboy.

Charlie owns Runaway Ranch and runs it with his brothers. He's closed off and grumpy due to his past and they get off to an awkward start when he asks her to leave town as soon as he meets her.

But when a video goes viral on social media, putting his business and ranch at risk, he reluctantly accepts Ruby's offer to work on a social media campaign to do damage control and save his ranch.

As they spend more time together, they can't help but be drawn to each other. Ruby is only here for the summer, and Charlie doesn't know if he's waiting for summer to be over or to keep Ruby here forever. However, they're both hiding secrets of their own, and someone out there is targeting Charlie's ranch, and things get more dangerous.

Review:
This started off good with Ruby trying to take her life into her own hands and live for once, and was good till like half the book. Then it kept dragging on with so much going on and Ruby constantly delaying the inevitable, that is telling Charlie about her condition.

It looks like Charlie's character tries tooo hard fit the cowboy narrative. And we get it, he growls.... a lottt... He growls for everything. If you had a drinking game based on each time he growled, you'd be drunk in no time. I get that he's grumpy and broody, but he doesn't have to keep growling for everything to prove that.

Too much going on plot wise. With the ranch and the DVL guys causing trouble to screw up the reputation. The attack on Ruby.

Ruby was too goddamn immature. She hid her heart condition (which could have totally killed her) from Charlie even when it kept getting progressively worse. Even after she sort of passes out after sex, she still doesn't tell him. She could have literally died. And knowing Charlie's past with how he lost his fiancée, it's terrible to keep that from him. She says yes to marry him but still hasn't told him about her condition knowing there's no cure.

Even when she finally reaches a point where she can no longer hide it from him, she still risks her already fragile heart to ride a horse, especially when she isn't even in the right state of mind.

And there's a new trial for her SVT but she didn't go cause "oh I'll have to leave the ranch and stay at the hospital in California for a month and I'll be away from Charlie"
Bitch how dumb are you?????

There was no bonding or anything going on between the FMC and side characters/girls from this small town to have a girl gang or to say that she's made friends for the first time. Like they barely even talk.

Could've been 100 pages shorter for all the unnecessary drama and dragging out her secret till the end. It got reallyyy frustrating after the 65% mark.

Side characters were good and fun to read about even if they didn't have much interaction with Ruby, and I did enjoy the progress between Charlie and Ruby and how they fell in love to some point. But certain aspects just got me super frustrated.

tame the heart is the first book in the runaway ranch series, and I’m so excited we’re going to get more books in this world.

it follows ruby as she’s taking a road trip to start living despite her heart condition, and charlie, the grumpy cowboy who owns runaway ranch with his brothers.

this book is a classic grumpy x sunshine take and I loved them both so much. charlie is also going through so stuff but he was sooooo good to her. their meet cute was literally him saving her from a bar fight. and he helps her finish out her bucket list. I also loved the family saga set up with all the brothers at the ranch. I’m so excited to continue this story!

it’s sweet, steamy, and heartwarming and the two of them were just what they needed.

Tame the Heart is a small town, cowboy, grumpy x sunshine romance and the first in the Runaway Ranch series.

Ruby has a heart condition (SVT) and is always treated as fragile by her overprotective father and brother because of her health condition. She works for a luxury travel company doing their social media and online content, but has never even left Indiana. When the story starts it’s her birthday and she has a bit of an existential crisis and wants to just live, really live. So she takes off on an adventure to live and we catch up to her a month later when she finds herself at Runaway Ranch. There she runs into grumpy rancher Charlie. After he helps her out at the bar, she offers to help him with the ranch’s social media after a video is circling about the ranch’s reputation. Ruby is supposed to be just there for a few months before she heads off to her next destination in California and soon her and Charlie find themselves giving in for a “just for the summer” fling while he helps her with what he assumes is her bucket list.

I really liked this one! I had read the 2nd book in the series last year and had been meaning to go back and read this 1st book in the series, so when I saw it recently got an audiobook (and is on hoopla), I jumped in! I liked seeing Ruby and Charlie together, their time as he takes her around so she can take photos and make social media content for the ranch. They both keep things from one another for quite some time, but it makes sense since they’re assuming it’s just a summer fling at first. Her health condition definitely comes in to play in the story, she keeps it a secret for a while because she doesn’t want to be seen as a burden. We get a bit of a suspense element to the story as well! This series has been my fav thing I’ve read from this author.

First Impressions
Tame The Heart is the first book in the "Runaway Ranch" series and this is a series and a author that has been all over romancelandia and I honestly put this off because I was worried that this author was a bit overrated and I can tell you right now she is worthy of the hype. This book won my heart in every way and I couldn't put this one down. It kept me up all night all and man I am tired but so blissful over it lol So you can always tell that its a good book. Tame The Heart is a book that will really dig deeper into issues and have you face up to certain aspects that will put you through the emotional ringer.

First Line
Hearts, flowers, and sunshine are some of my favorite things.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Charlie
The Heroine: Ruby

Summary
Ruby loves her family but she is desperate to live her life before she dies young. She has a severe heart condition that killed her mother and her aunt. And she knows that she will probably die before she reaches 30. So she comes up with a bucket list of what she wants to experience and leaves her family to do so. She starts to travel across the country, and finds herself in Montana in a small town and runs into Mr. Grumpy cowboy....Charlie. Charlie has suffered his own share of pain. He lost his fiancee to a horse falling on her in front of him, he was once a professional rodeo athlete, and changed his focus when he bought the Runaway Ranch, and his brothers just seemed to follow him there and they build a stable ranch and experience they could give to others. But their ranch is in danger, and Ruby offers her services in exchange for a place to stay. Ruby and Charlie start to work together in an effort to change the dialogue of the ranch when it suffers an attack of social media cancellation and a big mogul trying to take over the town....but through their work together, they start to connect to each other. But Ruby is hiding a big secret, one that could take the man she loves away from her...

What I Loved
Tame The Heart was BRILLIANT!! This book was such a masterpiece and I couldn't get enough of this book. I literally was so swept away by the dynamic between Charlie and Ruby. I really felt for Ruby, she is in such a bad spot and her journey just had my heart tearing up over it. To know that you are going to die soon and must live your life and just want to experience life was just so beautiful in seeing her growth and journey here. I really resonated with the heroine and even though I wish that she had expressed the truth earlier to Charlie, but you still understand why she is hesitating. Her family treated her different from her medical condition and she didn't want Charlie to do the same to her. But Charlie knows that something is wrong with her, and I really enjoyed how the truth of it actually comes out. You see this catalyst that is building and you are on this journey and even though you know its going to break your heart, you become so easily invested in Charlie and Ruby's journey and their connection was sensual but powerful and impacts you in such a unique way.

What I Struggled With
Not much......I probably would have liked Ruby to share the truth before she started to have severed issues on the exterior. You can see that she wants to, she just keeps getting distracted by other things.

Overall View
Tame the Heart is a romance that was grumpy sunshine perfection! It was emotionally tantalizing, traditional values focused, and a love story so endearing and vibrant!

Steam/Spice Explanations

Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.

Thank you Ava and Valentine PR for this arc!

Please pick up this book if you love Elsie Silver! We meet in Resurrection Montana at Runaway Ranch hanging on by a thread. Then you have Ruby trying to accomplish her bucket list and doesn't stay anywhere longer than a couple months.

Ruby and Charlie have a grumpy sunshine relationship. Their backstories are 🥲 I teared up so many times during this story. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series!

Who doesn't love a good cowboy romance!

"I crush her against me, desperate for this girl who’s wrecking me from the inside out. Her heartbeat mingles with mine where our bodies join, and for the first time in a long time, I feel sunshine in the darkest parts of me."

Tame the Heart follows Ruby and Charlie. The two of them are total opposites but they have one major thing in common, their secrets. I love the grumpy x sunshine trope and Ruby and Charlie fit it perfectly. I love that the grumpy cowboy fell for the sunshine girl and when he fell, he fell HARD. Ruby is a total ray of sunshine. She's loveable, fearless and I absolutely adored her character. Charlie is such a protective and grumpy cowboy. I thought Charlie and Ruby balanced each other perfectly and did so much to help each other. The character growth they both have is so beautiful and it's 100% because of the relationship they form and the journey they go on together. This book is emotional, sexy and you're bound to fall in love with Ruby, Charlie and everyone at Runaway Ranch. I adored Charlie's brothers and I love Fallon so much. I'd for sure want to read a Fallon and Wyatt book but I'm definitely intrigued where Ava will take the series. ❤️ There's also mention of the brother's baby sister Emmy Lou who is originally from Ava's Nashville Star Series. I'm hoping to read the series soon!

Thank you so much Ava Hunter and Valentine PR for this ARC!

It started off decent. Some of the scenes didn’t make sense with what they were doing and phrases were very repetitive. Her dad and brother are super protective of her having SVT yet she says her and her dad had a NIGHTLY routine of saltine crackers with PB and chicken noodle soup 😳 even someone without heart issues that’s a crap ton of sodium. Ruby’s character was really annoying to me. The first time they had unprotected sex she was drunk and had an episode of SVT and still didn’t have the smarts to tell this man she could literally die. I feel like she’s selfish. And who tries to pet a random horse, just to fall into the cage, and stand there like a doofus until he risks HIS life to jump in there with you to get you out. I feel like it was trying way too hard to be “country” the nicknames repeating over and over I was over itttttt.

This small town, cowboy romance was so cute! I love grumpy sunshine so much! Their relationship is only for the summer and no strings attached. Ruby is there to save a cowboy and complete her bucket list. She’s not meant to stay in a tiny Montana town, she’s leaving in a matter of weeks to continue her travels. Rugged and gruff Charlie is still reeling from the memories of heartbreak and dealing with a struggling ranch. Two complete opposites come together in a heartfelt way tumbling head over boots in love.

some things stuck out to me that lowered my rating.

- too many plot points that left me in a spin and will they/won’t they between Ruby & Charlie
- (see above) Very long… I started skimming the middle oops
- Felt like something I had seen or read before. Like pieces of Yellowstone, Elsie Silver and Devney Perry. I know tropes are used by everyone but some things were too niche
- A lot of repetition- like her rose gold hair and how tiny/petite she is…

I’m excited to read more about Charlie’s brothers & the rest of the Runaway Ranch crew.

Was not expecting the spice! 2.5 🌶️

Upd: змінила оцінку на 5, літня атмосфера Монтани мене не відпускає

In my ✨cowboy era✨
