The Scandal is an all-new marriage of convenience, age-gap novel from New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby, set in her Single in Seattle Series, featuring Stella McKenna!

Who knew that weddings in Vegas were the real deal? I certainly didn’t when I agreed to marry my co-worker while on a bender in Sin City. Now, I need a quick annulment, which means I need an attorney, STAT.

Honestly, with a name like Grayson Sterling, Esquire, I expected an old man in a three-piece suit. But the guy behind the desk is anything but stuffy and old. Tall and sexy with tattoos and striking blue eyes, I simply can’t take my eyes off him, and I have no intention of declining his offer of a date…and more. So much more!

The conversation between us is good, and the man should win awards for his bedroom escapades. I find myself trusting him in ways I never thought I would—until he breaks that trust.

Gray insists he can fix it.

He claims he loves me.

But I don’t know if we can survive this.

The Scandal is the second book in the second gen series, Single in Seattle. I adored the parents’ series, With Me in Seattle, so it’s always a nostalgic feeling seeing the kids all grown up. The Scandal focuses on Stella, Nate and Jules’ daughter, and an attorney named Grayson. Stella accidentally got married to her guy bestie during a drunken night in Vegas, and Gray is hired to handle their annulment. Because instalove is the name of the game with this author’s books, Stella and Gray literally are attracted to each other at first sight, and so begins their love story.

I enjoyed Stella and Gray’s chemistry. Gray’s family was awesome, and his bond with his elderly neighbor and her grandson was adorable. Of course nothing beats being reunited with Stella’s parents and her entire family throughout this book!

FYI - Just to be clear, the book is advertised as a marriage of convenience, but it is NOT. Stella and Gray do not get married in this book at all so I think that’s a bit misleading to readers and should be made clear for marketing purposes. Also, the third act break up was understandable, but I do think Stella was a little dumb because Gray had her best interests at heart and I’m glad her family told her she was overreacting 😂.

✔️Insta Love Romance
✔️Family Family Family
✔️Little to No Drama
✔️Swoony Hero
✔️Smart, Beautiful and Confident Heroine

I am really loving the second generation of the Seattle Montgomery’s. The Scandal definitely kept a smile on my face. I was slightly confused about the marriage of convenience in the blurb because there is no marriage of convenience but none the less, the story was romantic and cute.

Gray Sterling was perfect- there I said it!! Stella McKenna was confident and strong and a breath of sunshine to read about. They met and off they went. They had great chemistry, great banter and great passion. I love a good insta love romance so the story was delightful for me. The only thing that I had alittle bit of issue was with the little drama that came between Stella and Gray. It was silly to me that it caused such great strife between them but in the end, it all worked out!! I also absolutely loved seeing all the aunts and uncles and cousins. Stella’s parents, Nate and Jules were such a joy to revisit and I also loved Gray’s family.

Kristen Proby is such a feel good writer and her family series always hit the mark for me. The Scandal is a great 2nd book in the Single in Seattle Series and I’m already looking forward to the next cousin’s book!!

#strangesummerreading The Scandal by Kristen Proby ☀️☀️ I’m going to take a break from Proby for awhile. I love some of her books and then HATE some of them. I really didn’t like this one which was a bummer considering I liked the first one of this series. 😒

It was nice.

This author always brings a safe read to our hands.
I've loved this series since the very first book and I absolutely loved Stella's parents' story. So I guess I expected something more impacting for her.

It felt like more of the same.
Insta-love and insta-lust. Feelings that grew exponentially within a week (if that). Little to no drama - unless you consider the teenager-y, childish drama Stella created.
Nick/Her father was right: an age-gap relationship could be problematic, especially if she would resort to acting like a spoiled, martyr-like brat.

And what is with the repetitive "I have lots of cousins, uncles, and famous, rich people in my family, and we love each other and spend a lot of time together"?
Okay, we got it, you are important and your family is the bomb. There's no need to bring this up in every conversation, once is enough.

I wanted to like this book better, because I'm crazy about this author and, I repeat, I freaking loved Julie and Nate's story.
It was a nice read, but it wasn't Fight For Me.

Amazon / Apple Books / Nook / Kobo / Audible

Stella and her bestie accidentally married one drunken night in Vegas. Neither knew the marriage was real until he applied for a marriage license and found oops that he was already married. No matter, his fiancé's colleague, Grayson, at their law firm will handle the annulment. She didn't count on meeting Grayson and falling head over heels for the tattooed alpha at first sight. She didn't count on her father's resistance to their age gap. And she didn't count on him pulling a move she specifically told him not to do.

Grayson's immediately fascinated by his newest client. She's strong, confident, and beautiful, and he wants her. He wants her, but can he keep her? If her father has his way, then no. If he makes the wrong move, even while trying to help her, then no. But there's a lot to be said for his own confidence, his own persistence, and the power of love.

The best thing about The Scandal is Grayson. He's alpha and commanding, but also sweet and swoony af. I absolutely loved him. I am normally not about age gaps in romance, but here it wasn't a big deal, until the difference between their maturity levels became glaringly obvious, and I understood her father's dislike of their age gap. Stella was, quite frankly, acting the spoiled brat at that point, and I kinda wanted someone better for Grayson. Still, he loved her so she got a pass from me. The story, the writing, all on point for this author - with insane chemistry, a ton of heart, low drama, and the most swoony worthy, gorgeous tattooed hero.

I fell in love with Stella and Grayson instantly! I knew I would love Stella because I so love Nate and Jules(her parents)! She is a perfect blend of ballsy, independent and open. What I didn’t realize is how much I would swoon for Gray! Once again KP delivered. Somehow he fits in perfectly with the other Seattle Alpha men in these series.

Their meet cute was quintessential Kristen Proby perfection! I was giggling and a little flushed all at once. There’s a balance struck between these two that shows over and over just how right they are for each other regardless of their age gap. They were meant to be and with each page it became even more clear.

Another 5 Star “Seattle” story that somehow felt so fresh and new even though some of the characters have been in my world for many years. I will never tire off the Seattle Universe that Kristen has created!

I'll be d@mned! What a way to start and what a way to meet! I loved Gray and Stella from the very first moment and to witness their insane and undeniable chemistry at works, it was exhilarating!

Fight With Me is my favourite of the first gen Montgomery's - Nate is my top best book boyfriend list all the way! - so to say that my expectations were high for this one is no joke. Well all my wishes were answered because Stella and Grayson's story was as hot and powerful as her parent's! Plus we got OTT Alpha daddy Nate, at his most intense best in this one,so double wow....!

The in depth view onto Gray's family was such a pleasant surprise and I do hope it's not the last of them that we'll see, specially his awesome sisters - pretty please!!!

I don't know what is it about this world, or Ms. Proby's writting, but I feel so at home with this Seattle gang, and its passionate and caring characters that I could read about them all day, every day. That's how much I adore them, I just can never get enough <3 <3 <3 <3

“Holy shit. I think I just met the man I’m supposed to be with.”

Kristen Proby is back with the second stanalone book in the Single in Seattle series and oh my goodness! Y'all. My heart. Nate and Jules daughter is here with her story and you can't know the excitement I feel about this book. I adoooooored their her parents book so obviously I was overly ecstatic (maybe s bit too much?!) about this book.

The Scandal was everything I needed it to be in so many ways and in allllllll the moments. Stella and Grayson stole my heart and y'all. Their story? Completely blew me out of the water. This trope is a favorite of mine and Kristen didn't disappoint for a moment doing it... and Stella and Grayson? I loved every single moment of their swoony, steamy, all in your feels, and slightly complicated love story.

I can't wait for another Kristen Proby book and for the next beauty in this particular series.

I highly recommend this book.

The Scandal is a standalone romance within Proby's Single in Seattle series.

I'm not normally one for insta-love stories but when it's done right, I really enjoy them. And this is another that I absolutely enjoyed.

Stella finds herself needing to get an annulment and quickly. When she walks into the office of the attorney handling the paperwork, she's knocked back a few steps. Grayson may be slightly older but there is an air about him that she finds absolutely attractive. And Grayson doesn't mix words in letting her know just how he feels about her.

Kristen delivered this story with the perfectly. The pacing and timing of everything is right on the mark. I love the maturity of both Stella and Grayson and it just feeds into their attraction for one another. The secondary characters definitely add another layer into the story and just keep things very well rounded.

Another great book from Kristen!

4.5⭐️

I really loved Gray and Stella's story, especially reading how easy it is for the two of them to start seeing each other. The attraction and chemistry between the two of them are undeniable and I loved how the two of them are not shy about admitting it and taking a chance. And that's how Gray asked her out on a date and everything started from there on. And like I said, it was all very easy for them.

Until Stella decided to push him away. And that's why I gave this a 4.5⭐️ instead of a 5⭐️ because I don't like it when a character thinks they're doing the other person a favour by deciding to end things. Also, who would want to let an amazing guy like Gray go?

Otherwise, I really enjoyed their story.

This Single in Seattle series just keeps getting better and better! I seriously can’t get enough! And I obsessed seeing the OG characters throughout.

The Scandal is Stella and Gray. I freaking love Stella!!! So much of Jules in her from her strong and sassy personality, to her fierce protectiveness of her family. Grayson is just swoon 😍 an alpha Viking with an age gap. I’m done!

Kristen Proby has absolutely nailed this second gen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After marrying one her best friends in Vegas during a drunken bachelor party, Stella McKenna needs a quick divorce and she's recommended to attorney Grayson Sterling. The minute Stella and Gray meet, their chemistry was off the charts and he asks her on a date. I loved how confident Stella was in all aspects of her life and she had no problem letting Gray know she was just as interested in him. Gray was a perfect gentleman on their date and made it clear that he wanted to see more of her. Stella has a huge family and everyone who's read the With Me in Seattle series knows that and the fact that this had to be repeated in this series as well was repetitive. I understand that the Montgomery/Williams clan is close but having all the cousins and parents wanting to interrogate Gray and try to give him the third degree got tiring after a while. I liked that Gray took it all in stride but I would have been annoyed after a while. Stella and Gray spent most of their time together getting to know each other and just having a great time. I do like that we got to spend some time with Gray's family in Idaho and they were lovely. Stella was a successful interior designer and she was working with a difficult client who humiliated her and got her fired but when Gray went and tried to fix the problem for her, she blew up on him and broke up with him. I understand that Stella wanted to protect her family, but she was being dumb for no reason and Gray was an attorney who knew that what happened to her was wrong but she was more worried about her family's image. Stella's family had to tell her how dumb she was in order for her to see reason and go fix things with Gray and in my opinion he should have made her grovel more. I liked Stella throughout the entire book until she started being a martyr for her family's honor and pushing away a great guy for only helping her out. I loved Grayson, he was a good guy and it was obvious to anyone that he loved and cared about Stella. I liked their story, I liked all the cameos from the aunts and uncles and the cousins but I feel like this book could have been longer because there was more story to tell. I did love the bonus epilogue that was in Nate's POV, that man still loves Jules with all his heart and it was great to read. It seems like all the Montgomery/Williams kids are getting their own books and it would be great if these kids could have friends other than their cousins, I get that they're a close knit family but they need to branch out. I enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward for the next one.

Let me start by saying this is one of my most re-read authors. I love her work. Her With Me in Seattle series is a go to re-read for me. I LOVE next gen series as well. This book centers on Stella who is Nick and Jules daughter from the original series. How could anything be wrong here?

It wasn't bad. I'm not sure where a marriage of convenience fit in--it was a drunken dare between friends--- but it still was sparks flying, insta heat, HOT between Stella and Grayson. The two of them date and more. Feelings get involved. My issue was Stella. This is not a new adult romance read. SHe is a well established adult albeit younger than Grayson. But still, good job, good support system. I just felt she acted so much younger than her years for much of the book. There were moments that were good. But there were times I just wanted to cringe and say WTH?

Grayson was the bomb. Loved him to pieces. Loved seeing the ladies of both generations. Loved Nick as always. He is a good daddy. I really felt the first book of the series was better. Not enough dislike to not want to read the rest. Looking forward to all the cousins finding their HEA.

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Scandal, book two in the Single in Seattle series, was another story I just couldn’t put down. First, I love everything about Kristen Proby’s ability to write a series that brings in former characters so we can revisit them. In this “new” series, we get to fall head over heals with the grown children of our beloved With Me in Seattle characters. In this book, we get to Stella, who is the only child of Jules and Nate. She is every bit as sassy and sweet as her mom, and of course, we get to see her protective dad, Nate, who still makes me swoon.

Gray, an attorney and partner of one of Stella’s bestie’s soon to be husband, is hired to assist Stella undo a past error made in Las Vegas, but in true Kristen Proby fashion, becomes the heartthrob that Stella can’t resist. The chemistry is off the charts between Stella and Gray, seeming like the perfect balance for each other, but of course, a catastrophic event occurs for Stella and she may not be able to look past it. Will Gray and Stella overcome the challenge present? You have to read the story to find out how this one ends!!

When a fun pretend marriage to her best friend in Vegas turns out to be very real, Stella finds herself in the office of a sexy older lawyer, Grayson. After their meeting ended, she left not only with an annulment but with a date as well.

Grayson was enchanted by the sweet and sassy women that he met, and he knows that he isn’t about to let her walk out of his life. One date led to a swoony romance, and he will do anything to protect the woman he loves whether she wants it or not.

Grayson is everything you could want in a man and so much more while Stella with the help of her family realizes how special he and the love he has for her is. The chemistry between them is intense as Grayson has certainly met his match in Stella.

I loved the falling in love again. I will never get enough of this author. I know I have a lot to read. I love the small things that make the relationship great. Yes there was an age gape but lovely and so much chemistry. It always make me dream about my falling in love. It was not just steamy but also fun. I laugh aloud a few times. And for drama needed there is also some but I do not think neccessary. Anyway now I love also this couple.

Stella is the perfect combination of her parents, Nate and Jules. I love how Stella finds herself into that Vegas situation and just has fun with it. Gray stole my heart from the very beginning. He may be a little older than Stella, but they just have this magnetic pull that you feel from the very first meeting. I love how close he is with his family. There is something so special about Stella and Gray that keeps you glued to the pages.

Usually, a Vegas marriage, fake relationship book involves the characters accidentally getting married and then accidentally falling in love.

They don't usually involve one of the parties falling in love with their divorce attorney.

Enter Stella and Grayson. Stella is the accidentally married woman, Grayson is her divorce attorney and, you guessed it, they fall in love.

I adore books by this author because, without fail, I enjoy them. they are full of characters I enjoy and stories I love. The idea of getting involved with your divorce attorney (who also happens to be older than her) and the slight twist that it gave to this trope.

I am drawn to books that are well written and have characters I can relate to, that seem like people, and react as I think people would. This one checked all of the boxes, it added in a great connection, and wonderful chemistry between both main characters.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

I want to love this series as much as the original…but I just don’t. How can these kids be the same age as their parents were in their stories?! They lack a maturity found in the original series. I loved Gray who was older, but sheesh not that much and it’s pointed out Nate and Jules have almost the same age difference. There is no marriage of convenience - the marriage was a stupid drunken thing with her gay best friend and Gray got it annulled for them. End of storyline. I do think Gray and Stella had great chemistry, but the instalove was borderline not believable.

Stella starts out as a cool and confident character, but her behavior at the end was eye rolling and not in line with her behavior at the beginning. I would have much preferred an epilogue that resolves the lawsuit and we got the satisfaction of seeing the right people get what’s coming to them.

Overall it was ok, but I just can’t put my finger on what I’m not a fan of here. The magic of the original series isn’t there. Of course it won’t stop me from reading the next book…

I have loved the With Me in Seattle series forever and now, we get to read about all the kids!

Stella is a powerhouse. She is strong, intelligent, confident, and above all, a loyal friend. She loves her family and despite not having someone to love, is happy for everyone around her who does. When she finds herself in need of a lawyer, her friend has the perfect suggestion.

Gray knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. When his business partner asks for a favor, Gray doesn't hesitate. He's used to taking charge in and out of business. And despite not having a special someone, he hasn't lost hope.

When Stella and Gray meet for the first time, sparks shoot across the room. Not only are these two very beautiful people, but they are also confident people. While these characters are strong apart, they are infinitely stronger surrounded by their friends and family.

It's fun to watch Stella and Gray navigate this more uncertain area of their lives. And while I wouldn't necessarily think the situation is a scandal within the book, I did love this story.

I can't wait for more! These are hilarious, sexy, and fun.

To start off this review i need an answer to one question that's been on my mind since i read this book: Am I the only one who wanted to see why that woman was so damn awful to Stella? I mean she had a beef with her because you don't threaten to ruin someone just because or am I mistaken?
The drama/break-up at (almost) the end was so unnecessary. She acted like a spoiled child. Up until this point this book was a perfect 5* read. This dimmed the excitement of it for me. As for grand gestures, I expected and wanted more than »I love you and I’m sorry« for him to forgive her but OK.

Now let's talk about what I did like about this story and this couple.
I adore Grayson. I mean what's not to love; he was funny, established, considerate, thoughtful and would do anything for Stella. I love his connection to his family. I adored him for not backing down from pursuing her before her family. They are a roundy bunch and can be intimidating. Stella was a great female lead up until the (almost) end I describe above. I loved her work ethic, the way she could hold her own with her family and with Gray too. I just wish she didn't act like a spoiled child. I get that he should have asked her, but I didn't find it that offensive to break this off with him at the time.

Overall, this was a great read and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in the series.

Stella & Gray

Stella is an interior designer. She’s up and rising. Landing a billionaire client, she’s in the process of making over her whole house. Her best friend informers her that in his bachelor party weekend in Vegas, they got married. His partner tells them he will have his co-worker do the paperwork and help them get annulled.

Gray is a corporate later and is helping his co-worker with the annulment papers. At arrival of Stella, they’re both so smitten with each other. Right after she signs the papers Gray states she go to dinner with him.

Their first date was magical. They talked all night and ended with an amazing kiss. Their relationship goes to rapid speed. They spend time together all the time, she travels to see him after his mom breaks her hip, he helps her with a horrible client drama.. their story is so fun and perfect. Well until he assumes one thing and she assumes another when an issue with her billionaire client throws a fit.

This was a quick and easy read by Kristen Proby. It is the second book in an interconnected standalone series, Single in Seattle. You do not have to read the other books in the series, to read this one. This was a nice, low angst book to read.

I liked both Stella and Grayson as characters. Grayson had a commanding presence but had such a kind, gentle heart. Stella seemed like a strong, independent woman, but sometimes that was her downfall. I found that Stella's age showed in some parts of the book, but think that she had growth in that area too.

Stella and Grayson had intense chemistry. There were sparks between them the first time they met and it took off from there. This book was very insta-love/lust, Grayson and Stella were in love with each other so quickly. I loved how Grayson was instantly intrigued by Stella, but I would have liked to see more of their relationship develop.

Overall, I liked this book and had a great time reading it. I breezed through it and can't wait to check out the next in this series!

I have to say that Kristen Proby knows the way to this cynical girl's heart, so I pray that she'll never stop writing her beautiful stories! Stella got hammered in Vegas & did what so many do, married someone she wouldn't sober so she needs an annulment like yesterday LOL! She gets Grayson Sterling as her attorney, and he was not the man she thought he would be, nope, he's a super sexy man that she's not going to turn down. Things are going great, and they definitely work very well in the bedroom, but then things take a turn causing a tad bit of drama. Like every book from Ms. Proby, the supporting cast was exceptional which always makes the story better for me because I love to see family actually tell the couple the truth no matter what so it's low on the drama which is a refreshing change of pace. You cannot go wrong with The Scandal, and everyone needs this author in their lives so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
